Yeah...
I just can't stand Hammerdins. It's like having an easy button. They're almost indestructible if made correctly...that is, unless someone has found a nice build to counter it. 
I never did get any of the really good items on my own though. Since I tend to treat people nicely, I got hand-me-downs quite a few times from veterans.
Annihilus included! 
I'm hoping Diablo 3 is as good as I think it's going to be.

Yes, Hammerdins can be quite annoying, but if they are on your team and you are on a hard level, then it's just great. When I played, i was a Tesladin (Holy shock plus Zeal), so I wasn't as powerful as i could have been, but I was still alright. When I tried a few duels at some stages, I got my arse handed me when versing a Hammerdin.
And Annihilus is wicked.  And I'm really looking forward to Diablo3 as well.

Doom it's just that seeing that stuff brings back so many memories... I've lived in Korea for 5 years before I came to Japan and lol.... korea is like Diabloland. I've spent countless hours playing that game with friends and I had the most epic items and characters ever xD.
My my... this game really has taken it's place in my childhood.
Ahahaaha runewords were so freakin overpowered^^.
EDIT: heehe specially that crown of thieves... I had it with 10~15% life steal my Pala was immortal the moment he his Schaefers Mallet hit something ^^. But yeah that was when I was still a noob (and even before there were Hammerdins~~~~ ahhh good times).

It didn't stop anyone from using them xD.
My my... ethereal 6 socket weapons/armour was hard to come by... and then you'd have to create characters like mad to get that Soulstone of Mephi destroyed in Act IV so that the high runes would be sure to drop... holy cow this really takes me waaay back.

Like every decent item, arreats can be worth nothing if bad roll, or a fortune if perfect/perfect eth. The funny part is that it doesn't have almost any effect on the char. People are paying for something that doesn't really matter (like the difference between 150% ed and 200% ed)
And the trade system sucks mainly because of d2jsp and other sites which made people super-rich with jsp bot, and then, introduced "forum gold" which gave the botters ultra-unfair advantage over the other ones at the start of each ladder, because FG doesn't vanish at the start of each season. So the difference between rich and poor/legit increases every day
I was very rch myself due to a few lucky finds, had a perfect hammerdin (yeah, perfect gear.  including a crafted ring that was most likely more expensive on jsp or generally on bnet than 99% of your combined lifetime gear in that game ) and swam in high runes.
And you know what?
It was so boring. I ended up giving the stuff for free on some forums, even that damned ring. Who cares.
But yes, I will play Diablo III, and I can't wait. D2 is a dead game to me, tho.

Yeah I was one of those botters lol.
You don't know how many sick uniques you can get from just one week of botting pindle.
However the best item I ever got was legit.
I was rushing someone and a magical necro wand dropped.
+3 poison and bone
+2 poison nova
+2 necromancer skills
+6-7 strength (I can't remember what it was anymore)
The thing was probably worth probably 20 hrs. Then I quit lol.

Not since they nerfed pindle's dropchart in one of the patches (can't remember which). It is still possible to get good stuff but it happens less often.
Nice wand. If it was +bonespirit instead of +poison nova, it would be tons of HRs.

Yeah, I got heaps of free stuff from one of my friends. They gave me HOZ, Fortitude, Enigma, and plenty of other stuff, they even gave me some HRS which were legit.

Legit? I don't think so ;p Most likely permadupped so they act as legit, but they aren't one. I have found one HR in my diablo career myself (Lo rune), but it's normally next to impossible to find a HR.
