First, note that I just corrected my answer on Eternal Light:
With Eternal Light, once Haste (or any other Light Magic blessing) is cast, Slow (the opposite curse) can not be cast on the unit. The unit becomes immune to the curse.
- blinding attack and fear attack:
both take the TotalTargetHP after the strike. The difference is that fear attack only works on attack (and so does Mark of Fire: only ranged attacks - not melee, not spells), while blinding attack (and Crippling Wound) works on retaliation strikes as well. Btw, Crippling Wound works on melee and ranged altogether.
Bash (and Paw Strike) take TotalTargetHP before the strike. They only work on attacks (not retaliations).

Holy...Yeah eternal light seems better from this viewpoint
You sure are dedicated and your work is appreciated.
Edit:
Paw strike seems to trigger more often when moving before attack instead of attacking an adjacent target(same hp stack).Am I right or is my luck playing tricks on me?

Ok, I have some questions (I have more than these, but I don't want to seem pushy ):
-During my play of Inferno mission 3 I was unable to use Consume Corpse on the Emerald Dragons. I don't understand why.
-During the same mission I fought Earth Elementals. I thought that Elementals are unable to get morale but in my case they DID get morale, how is this possible?
-There is one funny thing concerning the Tavern (also noticed in Inferno 3 ). Say you have one hero who is visiting town any you save game. If you than build the Tavern you will ALWAYS get the same two heroes in it no matter what, and loading game cannot help with that. However, the tricky situation happens when you own a hero AND a Tavern and than save your game. If you now buy a second hero the 3rd hero which will appear in the Tavern next turn is "random", but the brackets are there for a purpose. I tested some times, and it would seem that the POSITIONS (!!!) of your heroes on the map somehow affect which hero you'll get the next turn. So, if you move your hero to a different spot, and if you know the mechanics of determining the 3rd hero, you could actualy perhaps force the game to offer you one exact hero, depending on what you wish. I am not sure has anyone even registered this, but it's a funny thing, and I would be happy if someone could explain it.
That's it for now

i just wanted to mention that in the manual it is stated that godric and deirdre double the bonus of blessing and howl of banshee. actually, initiative boni/mali are still 10% - otherwise than stated.

As Vlaad pointed out, we are organizing a collective print order in France, to be able to print the manual at an affordable cost. "Affordable" here means 31.50 euros for printing and shipping inside France, plus fees depending on the payment method (for instance 1.37 euros for paypal).
I outline the fact that we are not selling a printed manual here: we apply the exact production+shipping price, without taking any benefit (that's why someone ordering a copy has to pay for any additional fee).
If anyone living in the european union or swiss is interested by the printed french or english version, the price with updated shipping cost is 35.20 euros. Orders have to be placed before february, 5th. It is possible to pay through paypal (with visa, mastercard...), in which case the total amount is 36.70 euros (including paypal fees). The recipient account is manuel.heroes5@gmail.com. Of course, the manual version used for printing will be the latest (2.1).
You can send me an email at manuel.heroes5@gmail.com for any question or particular request (other payment method, other country, other manual language, multiple copies...).
(Edit: the order period is closed.)
However, I advise you to compare the price to a local printing service, which may become cheaper due to no/reduced shipping fees.
Here's the direct link to photos I took of the sample copy I used to check the printing quality:

Unrelated to that, I didn't have time to investigate Rainalcar's interesting questions yet, but I'll definitely get back to them as soon as I can.
@Kane: Thanks. I'll check that in 2.1 and fix it.

Hey Rainalcar, looks like doing our speed runthrough has gotten us to see some of the finer side of game mechanics (even if we can't figure out exactly what they are). I also noticed this and had to make use of it during the Dungeon campaign (to get Lethos to appear in my tavern). Sadly, I have no idea how you could even go about figuring out the specifics of the formula the game uses for this issue. I kind of get the feeling that hero positions just change random numbers that are then thrown into a random seed and this produces the hero choices in the tavern. Of course, this is just speculation.
Count me as also interested if someone can figure out this algorithm.

Two questions:
Blackbear riders attacking adjacent enemies never seem to knock them back. Should they have to walk some tiles for it to take effect? If so the manual didn't mention it.
About dwarven luck it wasn't that clear. You get a 'reloll' with the resistance ability(15%) or with the collective resistance you have from creatures and artifacts too?

Hey since we are asking questions
What does Master of Earthblood (+4 to Earthquake) help? There isn't any correlation according to the manual to spellpower and damage done by earthquake...
Also I find pretty annoying that Dwarves have in addition to 3(!) creatures a hero ability that is affected by Soldiers Luck and some factions (Academy) have NO creatures that are affected by it NOR abilities. Well, that wasn't a question, but i needed to let that one out

@Elvin:
yes, there will be more details about Black Bear's Paw Strike in the 2.1 manual (next week). In short, they get one chance to trigger (with the usual formula 25%+-...) per tile walked to the target. So, if they don't walk, it can not trigger. Soldier's Luck gives them 2 chances per tile instead of one.
About Dwarven Luck, it gives 2 chances to resist a spell, with the total creature's resistance. Magic Resistance increases that resistance by 15%, but others factors are taken into account as well.
@Shauku83:
With the Tremors ability (War Machines), Earthquake also damages the creatures behind town walls in a siege. The damage depends on Spellpower (10+5*Power). That's where the Master of Earthblood's +4 bonus kicks in.

So it would seem. True, some of the stuff is pretty weird (consume corpse failing - with just a bit of misfortune this could have ruined my run ) but it definitely happened. Now I have to recall the 2 or 3 questions I had left out .

The english and french 2.1 manuals are available on the download page. The other language versions should follow in the next few days.
Among the additions, you'll find the Runelore section in the Racial Skills, but also the updated Training and Necromancy sections. Duel Heroes now have their war machines indicated, the power appears in the creatures tables, all 2.1 changes (should) have been included... I'll post a more detailed changelog later.
The pdf file now has bookmarks, making navigation easier. It also now comes in the classic high quality version (50Mb) and a reduced-quality light version (8Mb), suitable for screen display on low bandwidth connections. Both files have the same contents and features.
Finally, the (high quality) files are somewhat smaller than older versions, due to the use of pdf version 1.6 (requiring Adobe Reader 7 or Foxit Reader 2.0) instead of 1.4 (Acrobat Reader 5). If any of you is experiencing problems, let me know. Of course, I suggest you first update your pdf reader if you can.

Some things.
Banshee special gives -10% to initiative while in the manual it sais -29%. A bug then?
I recall you said attack would give +20% damage in the previous verion too. The description ingame sais 15%.
You can't learn magic from your own units yet arcane intuition sais from any unit.
Distract sais -20% instead of -15% of initiative.
About absolute protection and nature's luck...Would the dwarves get -1 luck due to deadman's luck or not?

There are indeed 2 bugs in the manual:
- Banshee: with the Banshee special, Banshee Howl reduces Luck and Morale by -2 (instead of -1), and Initiative by -10% (as usual).
The manual incorrectly says "-20% Initiative". I've been meaning to fix this one, but I forgot.
- Arcane Intuition: in 2.1, spells cast by own creatures are not learned, while the in-game text says so. If I'm not mistaken, they were learned in 2.0, and the desc didn't mention it. Both have been fixed, leading to a still incorrect statement.
These 2 are errors in the game, that are fixed in the manual:
- Expert Attack gives +20% melee damage (incorrect in-game text says 15%)
- Distract (Sorcery) decreases ATB of the enemy caster by 0.15 (not 0.2)
And to answer the last question:
- yes, a runemage with Absolute Protection has -1 Luck from Dead Luck, when facing a ranger with Absolute Luck. Absolute Protection only applies to the attacks from the enemy units, not to the Luck of own units.

The 2.1 manual is FANTASTIC! Awesome job. I am going to print the whole thing out on glossy photo paper. I have never seen such a beautiful, comprehensive, complete, and logical game manual for any game .... ever! You are a true artisan and genius - thank you so very very much
