Were they in a prison?
Was the dead man a "worker" at the prison? If so, was he the director?
Was the dead man a prisoner that was trying to escape together with the living man?
Was the dead man supposed to help the living man in his escape?

Were they taken hostage?
Did the dead man have any relationship with the living man (family, friends, enemies, etc.)?
Assuming the dead man lived, was he also dying from lack of oxygen?
If not, was he controlling the air pressure (pumping, etc)?
