Elvin said: Oh.. I don't think you'll do much with 15 sp. Imps have 13 init so they are 30% faster than your hero, even if you are lucky with the random starting atb I doubt you'll ever play first.
As you noticed in my last comment, I was off.
I don't understand how each is assigned Init though. Kraus Imps or Familiars, which drain mana, are always high on his Init list, and I can never start before him.
With this the case, how do I Hit & run Nuke his ASH? if he drains my mana before I cast anything? This I'd like to know!! My only other idea... 7x 1 Archmages each able to cast Fireball! if I get 2-3 those cast from Archmages cause his imps drained all my mana... I can still DENT, maybe, his army capacity!!! but if his demon with CHAIN fire attack comes first, than one shot will kill HALF my archmages anyway!!
Again... I feel a loss...
ANYWAY!!
It's late for me, I'm going to bed!! Will contemplate this more tomorrow!! Hope to see some more comments when I get on tomorrow!
Watching Rio2016?? GO USA!!

L.23 Wiz. Att/Def/SP/K/M/L/Mana = 4/8/26/20/3/2 & 200/200.
In this shot, she currently has (All Units mentioned are the upgraded versions, I can not recall all their names); 705x Grems, 28x Rakshasa's, 21x Djinns, 180x ArchMages, 153 Obs Gargoyles, 83x Golems, 47x Titans.
Next shot showing next screen shows her Skills if your interested. She Has Advance Artificer, Advanced Sorcery, Expert Destructive Magic, Expert Enlightenment, Expert Summoning Magic, Expert Leadership.
You have managed to mess up quite a lot, Jhora with those skills is terrible for lategame. Hit and run is nice but wont do much against huge armies. What you need is Dark magic + Defense and hopefully attack + tactics too. Logistics + swift mind would be great too, sadly you dont have it either.

Concluding... I'm at a loss??
A learning exp I say! Again, MY FIRST full game, as I only started with Campaign before this!
HOMM V is much more difficult than I expected it would be! I need catch up in the learning curve!
Mainly, trying to read the guide, I don't understand what is mentioned about knowing what Skills you will have late by seeing what spells you have up front.
Second, I didn't know it's best to focus on only few casting skills. I thought knowing more was better, I like variety! What I didn't know was there is a Cap to Skills to know for the game.
So the question is... how to take this and move forward? Especially cause I never like to play the same race 2x in row! Again, I like variety! So, leaving this game, and starting a NEW, I probably will not go for Academy next time. As much as I hated facing the Inferno Hero, and how bad they beat me down in any fight...
...I'm actually considering my next RACE to be Inferno! I'm intrigued by their FIreball casting demons, the chain attack, the mana sapp... to name a few!
However, I love Dragons, so I may try out Dungeon Race next! Who else has Dragons? Necro, the Bone Dragon, right? Is that the same?
Is it really a Dragon? Just cause it's called Bone Dragon, doesn't make it a Dragon, does it! Just curious!!

The Sylvan faction is much more easier than Academy to control on "Heroic".
Split your army in the stacks 5 + 2, or 6 + 1, or something, where 5 or 6 stacks is a high initiative blockers, and 1 or 2 stacks is a shooters. Feed the blockers 1 by 1 to the 2x2 creatures, and shoot them down (that because I do not like to play a Sylvan/Haven etc.. because I do not like to sacrifice the 'living' in-game creatures ). Then wiping out the map.
In the fight with opponent -
Better to select you racial enemy from the opposing faction. If there a Magic oriented hero (look for it in the Tavern), just charge and kill his troops.
If there a Might oriented opponent Hero Idk, IMHO - Fortress might oriented Hero will wipe out your army with his Rune of Charge + Rune of Resurrection in the late game.
And if you will face Academy in the late-game, this is a bad news for you too, because of their mini-artifact Academy is a very strong in the late game. In additional Academy magic oriented Hero, can puppet your troops like a crazy... But Academy is a hard to play on, so usually you will find no good Academy players .
P.S. What is happening in the Rio - the Olympic Games, or something? O.o
I do not like a 'military-stuff' pc-video-games.. :*(

Heroic is just my name here...
My common name everywhere I go online is Dman. I always add something to it pertaining to the online community I'm on.
On the game, I'm on Easy setting (#2) now with Sylvan. I think I was on Normal with Academy! Thought I'd do better than having an ally!! If you'd like to discuss the strategy with me on my Sylvan game though, visit my thread just for that! see my status at it's latest of game including helping me defeat a Neutrally Gaurded Necro City, unclaimed by any player, defended by only 3 neutral creatures, no Fortification, no Hero... I can't seem to break them... see my other thread linked above for more details on the new thread!

Academy the best race?. ) Don't make me laugh. That faction can't do anything at the beginning or even middle game.Attack and defense stats are hard to grow and that flying genie is relentlessly attacked, which is bad since it's a level 5 creature.
Sure it's fun to play with them and in later game they are very strong, but until then it's like fighting in the desert.

Competitively speaking, their best time is early and midgame. They excell at it if you are any good with them.

Agreed. Academy is the only town I've played extensively in H5 as it's the only one that wasn't brutally snowed by Erwan and Ubisoft. Nathir is a bomb. Jhora meanwhile, which the OP seems to recommend, isn't that great - takes a lot of levels for here bonus to make any sort of relevance.

Why would you ever prioritize buying Djinns anyway? It's ranged creatures like Gremlin Saboteurs, Battle Mages and Storm Titans that makes Academy worthwhile.

Starting with magic school is bad for academy, you want to keep your opponent guessing what magic you have. Destructive magic is good for early and maybe midgame, so your opponent will do all he can to repel an early rush.
