Is there any way to get single player scenario maps besides the 5 that the game comes with? I wanted to make a randomly generated map as a single player scenario, but it automatically throws them into multiplayer.

It's in tote but it's not a 3rd upgrade, you just can choose an alternative upgrade. From base unit you can get upgrade 1 and upgrade 2.

They do ... in some cases. Personally, I don't like the looks of all new upgrades. But they're not better than the existing upgrades, they're about even. It's just that their specialties are useful in other ways than the standard upgrades. It gives more choices, more strategical options.

some questions about the demo vs TOTE
Questions about the TOTE demo & the real game.
Hello everyone,
I haven't bought Homm5 yet, but it looks really awesome from what I've seen so far in the TOTE demo. I'm not sure why people complain about the movement or the fact that it looks like Warcraft of Anime....anyways, I'm not here to discuss that. I would like to know a few questions about the Orc Campaign.
1. Is the demo campaign part of the campaigns for Stronghold in the TOTE game? or is a seperate mission.
2. Is it possible to find Tears of Asha in the demo, and how do you go about finding them?
3. Is the AI improved in TOTE? I know a lot of people complained about the AI in this game. In my opinion the AI is fairly good, I can't even get it to fall for the old strategies I'm learning to use in Homm3.
4. Anywhere I can read more about skills? It seems you can get 5 basic skills which branch off into other skill trees. Do they have more info about this around....especially for stronghold?
(btw, I really like some of the new skill ideas...at least they seem cool when you look at them. It seems like almost every skill is useful now, and they even added useful bits to somewhat mediochre skills from previous versions.)
5. Aside from Diplomacy...are there ways to increase the odds that some armies will join you? I can't seem to get some to join my army...even though it's been a long time (in term of game weeks) since I encountered any. I'm guessing some are just programed to stay hostile (like ones guarding a portal) no matter how much bigger your army is. I thought that perhaps it also helped if you are able to build the units in your castle..or if you have room in your army.
6. Are all the other scenarios/campaigns as cool as the one in the Demo? I'm sure I'm playing pretty badly, but I'm really enjoying the challenge so far...although it's taken me quite awhile to beat the main red hero, Benedikt (I think that's the main). I beat him once, but lost everything except a few cyclops

1: it is in the campaigns
2: In orignal homm 5 demo you can, but not in TotE demo
3: I know it cheats, but i don't know how
4:http://www.celestialheavens.com/viewpage.php?id=520
5:i don't think so. it was maybe an artifact, but i don't know.
6: many maps are cool, yes

Guarder already posted some answers, but I will elaborate on them a bit more.
1) Demo mission
Yes, it is in the campaigns. It's the third mission in the second campaign.
2) Tear of Asha
It's not possible to find it in the demo. The Tear of Asha is similar to the Grail from Heroes 3, and such is also the way to get it. If a map holds a Tear of Asha, it will also have a number of Obelisks on the map. Visit each to uncover a part of the puzzle map (which contains up to 36 pieces, by the way - but if there are less Obelisks, more puzzle pieces will be opened at once). And just like the Heroes 3 Grail, once you know where it is, you move a Hero to the exact location, wait for the next day, and dig it up.
3) I can't really comment on it, I think it's fairly ok. However, there are still oddities in its behaviour and sometimes does things that a human player would never do.
4) Guarder posted a useful link, but the main site to which these forums belong also have a truckload of information. More details about the game (base, and the expansions) can be found here.
5) The expansion TotE features a Crown of Leadership Artifact. It doubles the effect of Diplomacy, as well as the effect of the three basic Perks that belong to that skill. Other than that, I don't think there are ways to increase it. Monster stacks out on the map can indeed be programmed from always joining (like the 10k Black Dragons that wish to join a Hero with just a peasant) to always fighting (like the peasant who fights against a Hero with 10k Black Dragons ), no matter the odds. And for the cases of likely to join and unlikely to join, there are also the odds that the monster may fight or flee instead. I am not sure if having the same faction Hero as the make-up of the troops influences the chance to join when it's applicable. Most stacks that guard important objects or locations are set to "always fight"; most stacks that are just out there somewhere have a chance to fight, join or flee.
6) I found the maps to be cool, interesting, challenging (without it being artificially so) and a lust for the eye. Much better than the original game, in any case.

5:i don't think so. it was maybe an artifact, but i don't know.
3. How does it cheat?? I'm not saying it cheats, but it doesn't always fall for the same tactics that I have heard about from H3. For instance, when I was going up against a pack of Pheonix, I split a stack of Warmongers so I had 2 stacks of 1 and the main stack of Warmongers..then I set the 2 (so it was like 30,1,1). I hoped by placing them in front of of my Archers, Wyverns and other more valuable units, they would absorb the 1st attack of the Pheonixes. But no matter how I arranged them, they almost always hit my Archers, Wyvers or other stacks of units. If they did attack them, they would usually only hit one..and I'm assuming it's because taunt worked.
4. Thanks for the link..but there seems to be a broken file..I didn't see any skill wheel...just that "unknown" file type icon.
5. I do have an artifact that helps. plus I have diplomacy and a large army. But maybe I didn't have the artifact at the time I was hoping units would join me though.
So does anyone know how much bigger your army has to be to get an "true Neutral stack to join you?" (By true nuetral I mean one that has the default aggressive setting..not always fight or always join)

The most annoying is that it has the map opened right from the start, so it will know where you are and what you do. As such there's a great potential it will rush you as soon as opportunities present. I experienced this (being rushed by the AI) many times.
As to how it will react in a fight, it has an order of priority on which to fight first (ranged, tank, flyer) depending on the game level you play. This is consistent regardless the stacking of your army. Here the order goes as written in the manual:
Easy/Normal: move straight towards the enemy units, targeting melee units, flyers and shooters/casters in this order
Hard: moves its stacks depending on the positions on the enemy units, avoiding to be reached first, and targets flyers, shooters/casters and melee units in this order
Hard: moves its stacks depending on the positions on the enemy units, avoiding to be reached first, and targets shooters/casters, flyers and melee units in this order

The link provided by guarder is OK, maybe you had a slow connection, just hang on a little bit. Or you can check the skill wheel in the manual linked above, though it's not in a handy Flash app as in the one in that link. Alternatively when you have bought the game, all fan-made stuffs will be there (the manual and skill wheel).

You really need to check the manual It's in the Advanced Game Mechanics section in the manual.
