Yeah, but academy needs skills to play, and a lot of luck with the guilds/map luck too. It's easy on paper, but in the game, it's not as fun as most of people say it is. even MMR needs a lot of practice to be efficient.

But, i think, with all faction practiced at the same level, what faction that can stand a chance againts the broken MMR

warlocks can: well, my warlocks can. A midgame strong attack blows MMR freaks away every game. Although I play hardcore warlocks - I completely don't care for my army and what it does on combat field. It defends all the time, while my warlock does the job. Sounds noobish, but it's actually the best you can do with this town IMO.

Things don't look so nice if you face Havez with flaming balista madness. Sure, you can go 7 stacks of 1's hit&runs but its very risky.

Ballista has 1100 hp, but still it can be destroyed like everything else. What't the problem?

The problem is that you need two turns to destroy it and meanwhile all of your units are dead.
I wish warlocs had death cold oh i wish they did what would be awesome!

That's exactly why I rush with my warlock's creeping and leveluping: he needs levels. My spells quickly exceed 1k damage ( my main one, that is..), so I don't have to fear about warmachine specialists anymore.

Just don't tell me that you get 1,1k+ damage spells week 3 day 1 because i've played enough with warlock to know that this can be done that fast practically only with lucky spell which is not reliable weapon.
Hmm ok perhaps implosion too but i think you still need +50% artifact for this.

Week 3 day 1, 1k spell damage? if not lucky spell+booster, i think that's impossible

Depends. It can be implosion or chainlightning, to be exact, and even if it can't do 1k damage, there is still chance through lucky spells. Not to mention that reaching flame arrows is not easy (doesn't it require attack skill? If so, 2% chance per levelup for attack for wizards makes it not very scary. I don't remember, honestly.)

Despite what manual says a lot people say that its much higher than 2%. Of course lucky spells can kill it but you can get max 50% chances for it so its not reliable and getting all those skills necessary for that much damage is VERY difficult that fast, but i admit its possible.
By the way that was my point when i was saying about it in the other topic. Some factions need to be perfectly played and be uber lucky just to beat average start of other factions , i hate this.

well, yeah. That's quite a balance problem. The relationship between factions in early-, mid-, and endgame differs a lot, and it technically shouldn't. Too bad it lies in the core rules (the way magic works) so it can't be "balanced" by, dunno, reducing gremlins' growth by 10 or so.

feluniozbunio... please give it a rest ... you are dungeon player, and since academy counters dungeon so well, you call it overpowered and that's just cowardish attitude. Better find some strategies for countering Academy instead of whining about how overpowered academy is.

It is interesting to compare this poll with the best faction poll started in June '06. That poll has:
Dungeon- 10 (12%)
Necropolis- 26 (32%)
Academy- 11 (14%)
Sylvan- 16 (20%)
Inferno- 2 (2%)
Haven- 16 (20%)
After the most recent patch, Necropolis has gone from the hands down best, to one of the worst in popular opinion (I disagree and think Necro is still a powerhouse now, maybe even more than before). Academy has done just the opposite, from one of the worst to the best.

I'm sorry Towerlord but try to beat good Academy or Dungeon player on rush maps not playing dungeon or academy yourself , good luck with that. Like I said in other topic, academy vs dungeon is hard matchup but its the win still can be pulled off by any side so there is no problem here. Other factions can just die in rush games to those 2 castles and thats the problem.
I have been playing all castles and i don't want to favor any particular. I happened to be in chaotic clan and im not going to play lowlife castles like necro or inferno so i play dungeon which is good. I like balance and i can see (like most of players here) that academy is above average.
While Inferno can be competitive, the new Necro is a big joke. Its only weapon is frenzy and puppet master , nothing more.

Actually I have a very close game with Valentin ( Academy/ Havez vs. Necro/ Nadir) ... MotN + spells with necro seems to be very effective in rushes. I'll give more details about it when it is over. So it is not only Academy and Dungeon, it is also Necro ... and I think Sylvan with rain of arrows / avenger / Icebolt lightning bolt + mighty Treants can be surprinsingly effective in rushes. I tested it once against Dungeon and it worked really ok. Haven has its rush solution in Vittorio(and training cavaliers) and Inferno and Deleb are not to be neglected at all!

Ok you are right ill cut the crap already Its really getting boring and this my last post on balance issue. It's just my opinion about the matter and believe me or not its not that i don't handle with academy and want it nerfed, that was a joke only.

The Necropolis is currently the most underrated faction in the game. Used correctly it can easily be the most powerful faction. When the patch changed the Necro every got on the "Necro sucks" band wagon, not unlike the "academy sucks" band wagon that went around before MMR. It's amazing how quickly people will jump to conclusions just because they read a post somewhere where someone said they weren't as good, or played them once and didn't work as well with the old strategy. Don't knock a faction (or strategy) until you've really tried it.
