Archliches have 16-20, similiar survivability, cheaper dwelling, better spells and 3x3 attack, and they are still not imbalanced. Why such an inferior unit as rune patriarch would be imbalanced?

magma dragon with rune of speed and then rune of battle frenzy...

But not againts player using fast faction like inferno, sylvan, also haven and academy, academy is slow faction, yes, it's true, but with mini arties, their inititative and speed can easily match inferno and sylvan, and even dwarf mighty rune is hard to match academy mini arties + MMR, either MMR rush or MMR late game.

In theory, paladins with training are the most powerful. How obout practice.. gee I really have no idea..
Hmmm, level 21 Klaus with full joust makes ~damage*2, luck gives on average *1.5, Retribution+Attack gives *1.5 so it's like

Pala damage = 2*1.5*1.5*ADdifference*damage = 4.5*ADdifference*damage

So 1 paladin deals on average = 25*4.5*ADdifference = 112.5*ADdifference damage. That means that in a Klaus vs Klaus battle, assuming that each of them has 100 pala in one stack, the stack that strikes first will simply remove the other.

I've seen it in practice. Dude, it's ridiculous.. the paladins kill everything in 1 hit. Even if divided to two stacks.

Its not only paladins. I got a game where(after 2.1) where marksman killed all my hydras with 1. And if he split them in 2 stacks He would still kill them all because he got luck on that hit. (i know he was killing them without luck because we were playing in hot seat mode)

The imbalance about the rune of charge is that there's a chance not to get it. And if you don't get it, and play against another Fortress which got it, you can just start over.

Fortress is weak because other factions are stronger. They each have their own counters...

Haven- I'm sure Doomforge already said enough about Paladins.

Sylvan- Master hunter and Druid Elder are powerful shooters. Ancient treants' defense is nearly as high as that of magma dragons'. With their initiative...fortress can't do much.

Necropolis- Dark spells with high spellpower means nightmarish puppet master and frenzy. With their high growth and necromancy, even huge losses seem little to them.

Academy- The only faction that might have a bit of trouble handling Fortress.

Dungeon- Even with Dwarven Luck and all the resistance thingies, surely you can't be so lucky all the time... Their spells are the perfect counter for Fortress creatures' terrific defense, since spell ignores defense...

Inferno- Nothing is more depressing than seeing all your creatures start very far behind on the ATB bar. With high initiative, almost all Inferno creatures have time to gate. In the end, the high-damage gated creatures can nearly already wipe out the whole fortress' army.
