Ah ok. Good idea indeed. Do I have another version, because in my game was able to berserk Dragonking and bring him down to a few units with hit&run?

Well I'm sure I never used sacrifice because I don't like to lose troops if I can avoid it . I don't remember Angel delight castle fight but vs the Dragonmaster the key spells were "clone" and "force wall" on my own blinded behemoths. Only difficulty there was to trick the AI not to sacrifice all his troops to bring back the red dragons.

Yes, I was sure I forgot something (early stage of the game). I generally rush to main wizard town to get the resurrection spell and outrun main ennemy wizard (except one game where I fight him on first town in defensive siege). I wanted to point to the fact that once we have the spell resurrection there are no more loses if we take the right and sufficient army .

Anyway the beauty of this game is that there are multiple ways to win or it will be a boring game otherwise

hehe, force field. That is the best spell in SOD/complete. Too good that in WoG will never works without sphere, as AI always casts dispel if used. It changed a bit our habits.

Badge of courage? Ah ok, I remember playing that version too, I used Conflux heros with phoenix to make the dragons kill their own units until a point. (and a good implosion too)

Was long to make him weaker.

Hi!
So far this map was going relatively smoothly, but at this point I feel really stuck

It's the end of month 8, and I've taken Rampart, Towers, Bloodthirst, Strongholds in the middle, and 3 of the 4 Ramparts, but I don't see any way to defeat the last purple hero:

Me (75-68-53-62)
1675 Grand Elves
244 Behemoth
749 Wyverns
1368 Gorgon
732 Hydras
210 Titans

Enemy63-67-69-70)
800 Gold Dragons
2K Unicorns
3K Dendies
4K Pegas
5,5K Elves
6,5K Dwarfs

Any tactical advice? Or was I moving too slow?

dragon flies are more effective in this type of fight than not-Upgr behemots. You need to block the gate and disable elfs for one turn. Golds will be gorgons meat. You have too many troops and not enough retaliation fodder.

You need to get 1 rust dragon from that dwelling to be able to start first

Month 8 in rampart area is very slow. This should be done month 6 latest....

Any ideas how to beat dragonmaster in newest version of the map (SOD)? I was looking for hints, but it seems everyone was referring to older versions, tactics like: anti magic arch devils, force field and clone ancient behemoths.

In last version of the map i have, he has 10k enchantners, and is immune to blind, berserk and fortgetfulness.

(1200 azure)


This army was only for tests, I have tried to use sacrifice meat (5k of low tier units stacks). Tactics with arch devils and behemoths protected by force field doesn't seem to work, his units are faster than anti-magic arch devils (not to mention about azures random fear ability), and enchantners that cannot be eliminated with magic, so each turn they kill about 1k behemoths..

Any ideas what strategy could work?
Tried to teleport behemoths into the castle next to enchantners, so they will take damage only from one enemy unit at time, but then all his dragons are attacking my meat for sacrifice, and i can't ressurect behemoths.

Some people advised to use phoenixes or dragons to weaken him attacking him the way dragons 2-hex breath attack will kill his own creatures. But if you use two hex big unit, it can't cause breath attack retaliation to hurt enemy, I can do it only with small units as dragonfly or efreet (which are not immune to slow and much slower). If you look at the screenshot for example, if i use goldies or phoenixes to attack black dragons (so they should retaliate to manticores) they won't hurt manticores.
Also i can't get access to tavern, with all locations on map visited and all knowladge artifacts my knowladge skill is.. 89 (missing 1)

I finished the game in my own way
I like to explore everything very closely so i took my time in the map... i defeated red and next thing you know some Mr.Buttkick guy shows up and i killed him... got his orb from him and finished the game

I think this is a big problem. You need secondary heros to destroy that beast. Are there any ways on map to sell creatures for experience and reload if not get the +1 missing?

Can you upload your save? I would like to try that battle, never played this version.

@lemonboy - As far as i know this is not the way map supposed to be finished, unless you are using outdated bugged version of map, when that hero is weak because of exp overflow (low stats). He should be much stronger than dragonmaster (with 99 all stats) thus impossible to defeat.

As for tavern - how these heroes are supposed to help me? None of Dragonmaster's unit can be berserked. Maybe a strategy with 7 stacks of fast units to weaken his dragons?
There is that structure monsters->exp on the map you are referring to, on the desert. I need to try that.

Time limit for this version is 18 months, so 3 more to go.

This is btw another difference of this map version, that only few secondary skills are enabmed.

Btw what kind of kamikaze would work best here? Which units to use.

edit:

Altar of Sacrifice is useless, i need 15M exp for another level, even sacrificing my entire army from all towns would barely be enough..

I saw legions of manticores on map, as well as millions of wanderer monsters. Defeat them before using the sirens (not the altair), I bet it is doable.

It was easier to start from earlier save file, and just pick +1 knowladge instead of power from one of towers.
I will try to send some heroes now.

I loaded save and after 1h managed to win battle, around 4800 ancients survived, everything else was dead.
Want to tell you my strategy or u will wait until i do something with better result? But, i think 4.8k ancients should be enough to finish the map.

Teleport ancients in front enchanters round 1 and kill them. Don't touch ammo cart, it will help u. As soon as you can, move arch devils to the place where enchanters were (if they are dead, ressurect them). Cast force field bellow ancients at first opportunity.
Many times this wont work, cos u will prolly left with not enough ancients before u can cast force field. The best scenario is when ancients are first attacked by rust dragons. Rust wont kill to much ancients and they will prolly survive round or 2, maybe even 3, which is enough time to cast prayer and haste on arch devils, so they are faster than azures.
It may take u some time before u manage to win, but i think it is better than buy 87 scouts to hit and run Dragonmaster.
Bad thing is that u cannot blind, so it is very hard to ressurect. Maybe if u get lucky, Dragonmaster can left with weak last stack, so you can ressurect fodders for sacrifice faster that he kills them.

ok i think i have figured how to save all Behemoths:

Use few enchantners, and there is chance they cast mass haste. I need also stack of Sprites (7k). Then i can park these Sprites right below ammo cart, and then when i will have arch devils + behemoths protected, Sprites corpse will be also protected by FF. 7k sprites sacriifce should allow to ressurect all behemoths

Maybe this is even possible without lucky mass haste.

Final battle is little disappointing though. 9999x7 dragons, orb of vulnerability + armor of the damned. Easy fight with titans+elves behind force field.

Maybe beting Sentiel before getting orb, or even before dragonmaster would be more challenging?
