Yeah!
What an awesome idea. I don't own a DS either but just seeing it in the shops would not only make the game famous and widely owned but it might even trigger a re-release. not likely but one can always hope . I'm writing an e-mail now.

Well the screen is kind of bigger then it looks when your using it. That said you could use a button to highlight everything or something.

NOTE: if nothing has been tapped, the top screen displays the town view.

yeah, but what about the list of heroes, and the amount of resources, marketing and artifact traders though? And the most important thing is: What will it be like when in battle? an supreme archangel is as small as a dot of ant?

You seem to be forgetting the zoom ability. And I suggest the DS has full 360 Degree turning ability so that you can view from aerial or have a rearview of a shot from an archer. Usually people who own DS's adjust to the small pictures that are in the screen. I don't really think it'll be that bad.
AS for the resource bar and every thing, I suggest it runs on the side vertically, along with the end turn buttons and day/week/month icon. If you want the detailed information, just hover over it with the stylus. Well I have the thought, so I'll just post the touch screen set-up for adventure map, city interface, recruitment screen, tavern screen, etcetera in-town screens, and the battlemap.
Adventure map- The top screen will contain the actual adventure map, while the touch screen will have:
> The Resource Bar along the top.
> The town and hero list shortcuts at the bottom.
> The End turn buttom at the lower right hand corner along with the accompanying buttons.
> Mini map has the left half of the middle.
> The Right middle is unique. It is the "drawing board". It is basically a rough non-graphical view of the top screen. This lets you draw movement paths and destinations and all other crap. Whatever is drawn on the bottom is plotted on the top screen. That way the top is where all the graphics are as it should be.
Town Interface- The top screen will have the graphical town with all the fixings, the touch screen will have.
> Just like in Pc, the bottom half inch or so has the visting/garrison army.
> Along the top is, again, the resource bar, however, it is pushed to align left.
> In the empty space to the top right, the view rotate circle. Very self explanatory. Push the cardinal left/right/up/down, but the 3-D rotate (looks like two arrows circling around each other) is different. The x-axis circles the view. the Y-axis zooms (should say Z, but). There is no y-axis rotation.
> The middle screen is the Left and Right Wheel buttons (Left-tavern, market, magic guild etc and Right- construction recruit etc). It is with the normal left and right circling the leave button.
Template for Left Wheel buttons-
As they are not really important places, they pop up as a screen in the touch screen leaving the top screen still town view.
Template for right wheel buttons-
Since they are rather important, they change both screens. The top screen will be like the left side in the Pc game (graphics). The touch will be the right side. Simple and easy.
If not the most important thing, the Battle Interface. To not decrease the mobility of the interface, it will be fine tuned. To increase the top screens ability to show the battle field, during the battle it will always show the battlefield minus the ATB bar. During tactics, the bland non-graphical view will let you move units. the bar will be at the bottom, and grid will take up the rest of it. The unit stacks will be defined as a numbered dot corresponding with a number on the unit bar. The random formation button will not be there, as nobody uses it.
The battle itself will be simple. All graphics are on top, as always. The touch screen is set up rather differently. The ATB bar runs across the bottom. it look the same as PC, including the attack description box below it. The unit options buttons circle. Is the upper right. It contains all the defend, wait, use ability, spellbook, and menu buttons. The upper left has the bland-view grid with the dots. However, the dots are different. The active units dot is highlighted a brighter color from the default whatever color you are. Draw its movement or select the attack. To do the melee/range trigger, just hit the special button to the right then attack. Push once and it greys showing its on, or change you mind and push it again to turn it off (no longer greyed). It will work rather well.
thanks for reading, I like the way I said everything.

Yeah, you would think people offering them FREE ideas (not even royalties) companies would jump all over it. Of course if I was a company, I gladly accept free ideas (though I would have the person sign something stating the idea would be totally free). I've sent very good ideas to companies, with a signed contract stating it would be absolutely free (though in some cases I did ask they put my name on it hehe). Like your idea, the ones I sent were ideas everybody seemed to love (without telling people who's ideas they were, under the guise of a survey, the ideas tested well).
I think lots of people would like to see things like even h5 : tote portable (I know I would). Perhaps they are first talking with nintendo to see if it is viable before getting back with you.

Xarfax111 that was very insulting. This thread is to discuss freely the possibility of a Heroes for DS. Just because it was created around something that without our influence would never happen, does not mean its stupid. Also, I fail to see just what is funny about it. People post ideas freely, and for your information, Ubisoft has not totally rejected this idea. Correspondence takes time. Please, I ask you nicely, don't post insults on here. Okay?
Now, onto things I was going to say, isabelyes, maybe Heroes 3 style and factions, but I don't think it should be the game on DS. But that's Ubi's decision. Since I've never played Heroes 3, I don't know what the plot is. Can you describe VERY BASIC details about it?

King's daughter marries foreign King. King is killed by trusted and loyal Knight, then is raised by Necromancers. Daughter returns with an army, allies with Elves and Wizards, beats Kreegans and Necromancers, then kills traitor and undead father.
And it took seven campaigns too.
