Quote: Can we count arrow turrets as creatures since they're static and independent of castle type? I know Ballistics lets you control them but you're only ever going to have 3 turrets and the damage will never be particularly high.
technically arrow towers are the same creatures - they have their own number in creature list, they can be given some abilities, and so on.
Quote: <off topic>
Can you kill a catapult using arrow turrets before 1st attacker turn?
</off topic>
only if you give them enormous values for attack
i myself hate having peasants in my army, when i am unable to covert them to skeletons, and magogs, because they are tend to kill allied units

I 'll vote for the Minoutaurs.
Ever had the bad luck to spot a nice treasure/artifact guarded by them and you have just the perfect army to beat without any losses.
You attack them, wait with your archers and of course they get morale and bye bye archers. Not to mention the additional losses you get after you kill them with your melee troops.

Not ballistics, but artillery.
The most annoying are efreets if you are against them.
Oh yeah - I knew that. For some reason I have something of a mental block with the whole Ballistics-Catapult, Artillery-Ballista thing. If I'm refering to using the Ballista I tend to think Ballista-Ballistics.
Face, this is palm. Palm, this is face. Now that you've been introduced why don't you spend some quality time?
On Topic
Efreets? If you're referring to Sultans then yes they're very annoying, otherwise not such a problem.

I think the most annoying creatures (regardless their level) are the gran elves. While harpy hags are also annoying, there are flaws which allow you to "control" somehow their moves. But the gran elves will just annihilate you on first week, if placed in sensible locations. You will pull your hair if they even get morale. And if you are playing with castle, just give up.
Surprisingly, the best town to take them is fortress, seconded by stronghold/rampart.

Yes, Grand Elves are a true pain in the ass. The most annoying part is that you know they are SO fragile, and yet they manage to slaughter your armada.
Golems are IMO extremely annoying to fight, mainly due to their slowness and toughness. They are pretty hard to bring down, and can carry quite a punch.
Mighty Gorgons are also a nightmare. I'm just praying to the gods each time they act.
Lastly, creatures like Dendroids (Entangling), Unicorns (Blinding Atttack), Medusas, Scorpicores, Basilisks (Pietrifying/Paralyzing Attack) are awkward opponents.

Golems are nothing else than armored zombies. Dumb, slow and easy to lurk around....

I didn't said they're fearful combatants, they're just annoying. There many ways to deal with them and they are not too dangerous, but they are very annoying for me. I never said they're strong: hard to bring down as hard to kill (they require some hits to die).
Zombies are also very annoying IMO, it's a matter of taste mostly.

Golems and zombies, due to lack of morale, are the best creatures to level up quickly. I always pray to have those in the starting area.

I know I'm a noob at this game.
I never said anything about their usefulness, power etc., it's just that they are annoying for me to fight them. They could give you 10K exp. each, the COMBAT is very annoying.

1. Dragonflies .. GLARGH, JUST DIE YOU SILLY PESTS!!!!!
2. Cyclops, these guys are arnold schwarzenegger in Game-form since they withstand a lot of damage (and their macho headmovement when they take damage is so intimidating that you start crying)
3. Magogs, because you ALWAYS end up doing damage on your own creatures, somehow!

The most annoying creature is that one against your plan and development will not work. Starting with castle, grand elves are a pain. Starting with stronghold, golems can be a pain early.
But the gold/black dragons can be veeery annoying sometimes. You could fight 100 hydras with one archangel and shooters but 100 dragons will let you half dead, even with very strong army. They have speed and you can't change that, they are immune to slow so you just lose units, and there are no chances you can survive with 100% of your army. Dragons rule against human.

..so what? Send in some scouts with tactics and some (about 4-6) of them will die before you attack them with real army. Try that with wandering Archangels or Archdevils.

Do I miss something here, because I don't get your point. I don't think having several scouts with tactics often. What you mean?

If your main has tactics you could use same tactic as used by shakti when fighting fast creatures.
I guess it depends on map how easy it is to produce lots of scouts with tactics.
i suppose salamandre were talking about 10 dragons not 100 since xarfax mentioned decimating the number of dragons by 4-6.
If you have powerstacks and tactics it shouldnt be to difficult to block them first round and force the dragons forward same round.
If salamandre meant 100 dragons im just happy that it doesnt occur often in real game . Perhaps in single player campaigns.

I think that you suggest to use "upgraded stack" bug?
1) not fair to use bugs, this bug is mostly banned in online games
2) tactics doesn't matter
3) can be done only for unupgraded guards with upgraded stack inside. So, your example (Archangels or Archdevils) will not work.

I have no idea about you are talking guys. All I said was that it is more annoying to fight a horde of dragons than other level 7 units. It is not about how you win but with what casualties you get out from there. So I conclude fighting dragons is more annoying. I don't remember very well the setup of block guards on templates but I think you will agree with me that it is harder to break in the middle fighting blacks/golds than all others.
Someone can explain me that "bug"?

I would really like to know what you mean by that because i dont know that bug either. But i was thinking that xarfax thought about decimating dragons by their own firebreath as mentioned in the tactics thread 2.

bug is: when you attack non-upgraded guard and if there is upgraded stack inside, then after battle this upgraded stack disappear. Even if you will attack with 1 pikeman.
And I agree that dragons are not as easy as other level7 creatures - due to high speed, firebreath and low-magic immunity.
