Geez, after 10 years I am still not aware of this "bug". Thanks.
But it is cheating, so I will forget for now Xarfax advice. I was stressed that he has a trick I was not aware of.

If you click on "auto" during the tactics placement phase, your units will be placed two additional hexes forward the enemy side. Useful when fighting ranged units, but cheat.

Quote: The most annoying creature is that one against your plan and development will not work. Starting with castle, grand elves are a pain.
Actually, Castle is the ONE town type(other than Rampart, that goes without saying) that has a good counter for Grand Elves. All you need is to build up to capitol during week one, then go straight for Royal Griffins and MARKSMEN!!!! Duh, all you need is slow or haste(you don't even need the corresponding skill, unless you wind up facing multiple stacks and are stuck with Slow) and you slow the elves(need expert earth for this if more than one stack)/haste the marksmen(no air magic required). Then you can easily weaken a stack(two with morale) of grand elves, and take them out next turn with your griffins.

Xarfax, before going wild let me quote you:
Quote:
..so what? Send in some scouts with tactics and some (about 4-6) of them will die before you attack them with real army. Try that with wandering Archangels or Archdevils.
Can you understand something from that? Well, I can't, call me noob if you want. Then Sag came with an explanation which implied a bug, and this is cheating for me. Not calling you a cheater, but calling "cheat" the use of a game flaw. Maybe in single player I would use it, but in MP never.
Now, from your HCM you say now that you meant using scouts to make the dragons kill each other. Man, I played this game for 8 years and I never could do that vs horde dragons with a simple scout. (You notice that in my post I specify 100 dragons, not some flies). And the required "tactics" confused me even more, as I could not see the purpose, a scout is a scout, low stats, so he gets obliterated on first turn, tactics or not.
We are not talking here about bugged Utopia or crypts. But about an open battlefield. Also the thread is about annoying creatures, not about fighting dragons. All I said was that a horde of dragons can be very annoying because you can't control their moves really.
If you felt insulted, I apologize, I did not mean that.

Okay so it was about decimating numbers of dragons as mentioned above, no offense
@Supergub
If you havent noticed im afraid that you will have to read a bit in here. It is better to take shooters with small or no losses. You can do that by using many different 6 level units. I persume you dont play online and therefore you should perhaps go for cavaliers 1 week with castle and use them for neutral shooters. Use wait, then move after shooters turn and attack on next turn. this can be done with several units in game.

No need to waste your time here Salamandre. It was and is always the same with Xarfax. Talking about awesome tactics and how great knowledge there is...but in the end, there is nothing. It was the same with all games and tournaments he wanted to participate the last 2 years. He even once started a thread where he wanted to play against all current good online players. Guess who never showed up?
And about that decimating...
Of course this mostly works vs green dragons due to their low speed. If you have a scout with 7 single cents for example, you can arrange them in a way so a few of them survive first turn (and the greens have positioned themselves in a specific arrangement) and then attack the greens so they hurt each other with 2-hex fire breath.

For me the most annoying creatures are wights...i mean i dont want to discredit harpys but these wights annoy me in a different way: never the proper choice...i mean never...they´re pretty useless & its even worst when i attack neutrals & they rob my magic points... how dare them???

Like I said, I truly hate Power Liches during sieges
Harpy Hags, hate those guys, obvious reasons
Wraiths... also mentionned why
Gorgons and Vamp - logical
Most Annoying would be the Magic Elemental though. Hate to face it. Hate.
*shudders*
there are many of them annoying creeps tho. Too many to mention.

Arclich, Death Cloud
Harpy Hags, That dreaded Strike and Return ability along with (grasp) no retaliation
I heard in WoG there is the "Darkness Dragon" who is super strong and has the same ability but without the no retaliation. Along with covering your hero with a shroud of fog? wow!
