Quote: Like someone before remarked, the wizards could possible come up with guns. You do need to include the development of guns into the whole HoMM storyline anyway. The wizards' gremlin gun was fuelled by magical explosions, relatively easy magic I believe - how else could the wizards mass-produce gremlins? Magic could easily be far more powerful than technology. IF no-one actually MIXES magic and technology, the latter could, I believe, easily fit into the HoMM world.
You do realize that by saying that you actually give a point against using guns and for using some magical equivalent of guns, right?

Actually, I was saying that magic could be better than guns, so guns could fit in - not that you should include magical guns only.
P.S.: sorry for the long post, i didn't realize how long it was brfore i posted it lol. did anyone read all of it?

@Cepheus I think the "guns" fits the gremlins. The gremlins are "crazy"(wearing a coat in the desert) they fix golems. I thinks it is far better than in H3 that they throwed this big black item(don't remember name)

I want a baneblade tank from W40k,predator tank and a mammoth tank from C&C 3 to be in the next installment so they would be killing off all those damned arcane archers.
Edit:Nuclear bomb is stronger than armageddon spell at any case.

I think Nival sorta missed the point of the Academy faction... they turned to a mechanical style when beforehand it was mostly animates and mages. Those Gremlins are out of place IMO.

implimentation is a major prospect.
in fact very few people are accustomed to change.
not many would be happy if we introduced magic into command and conquer red alert 3 now would they.

Hey didn't I reply to this topic just now?
Whatever. You're right seraphim, the most magical factions were mostly Tower (-> Academy) and Dungeon. Academy has turned into a mechanical faction powered by magic, and Dungeon is mostly BIG CREATURES like Minos and hydras now.

They did sort of change it, yes, but I'm not sure Gremlins are really out of place. The mechanical aspect is pretty apparant also with Golems, they might have taken the full step and made it even more dominant also with Gargoyles.

To me it seems like the HV Academy is full of too many themes at once. Combining mechanical, magical, alchemical and middle-eastern aspects all at once just makes for a bit of a mess IMO, especially for what is meant to act as an "Order" faction.

No.
I don't have much faith in H6 as after 5 I believe it to be a lost cause with Ubi but guns would just ruin it even more.

Dwarlfs should get metallic mechanical stuffs instead.
and so firearms. Dwarfs and Castellans should get Harquebuses. Muskets and (flintlock or percussion weapons)
give gremlins beam gun (magical... OF COURSE!) instead
PS. Guns made it's first appearance at the later stage of middle age... shortly before Renaissance

Maybe the problem with the acceptance of guns is a bit of forge scare, (forge is an idea I would like to see away from the actual storyline - though it wouldn't hurt to have it as a faction) I wish Nival had made the Arquebusier the alternate upgrade of the Archer, not only it would introduce guns (as optional), but it would also bring a more meaningful alternate upgrade, some (most?) of them are too much like the other upgrade.
But guns must be used with much caution, so as to not either unbalance the game or make it too unrealistic.

It really has got NOTHING to do with it!
Heroes of Might and Magic series is a MEDIEVAL FANTASY based series, not a more modern or sci-fi series.
And the moment it depatches from that main theme - such as by adding more modern weaponry like guns-, I'll stop playing it, and I believe many other players.

What I meant by forge scare is that now, when someone says "guns" people automatically think of bazookas and machine guns, not of early ones.
And an alternate upgrade arquebusier is really that bad?
