The Zubat starts emitting high-pitched sounds. At first it seems Nidorino is unaffected, but then you notice he's wobbling a little more than he should. And then you notice that he's slammed himself horn-first into the ground.

Ariados seems to grumble a little, but waits for the Ice type to move before getting his attack off.
Meanwhile on the other side of the rampaging Pokemon, the sleeping Graveler is recalled and replaced with a Machoke.
Wispaferyn A uses Silver Wind! ((Roll = 32))
Lapras is hit for 21 damage!
Lapras uses Mist!
The cold mist-filled air mixes with the smoky air...and nothing else seems to happen. You still can't see. A quick glance at your Pokedex explains things, however: apparently the move only protects you from things like smoke or sand, it doesn't erase their effects. ((You're thinking of Haze.))
Ariados uses Shadow Sneak! ((Roll = 95))
Ariados whiffs past his intended target, missing by a wide margin.
Wispaferyn B uses Ember! ((Roll = 58))
Ariados is hit for 23 damage!
It's super effective!
Ariados hisses as he's struck, snapping his mandibles at his assailant.
Corphish uses Bubble! ((Roll = 33, 82, 31)) ((Roll = 86, 65, 55))
Wispaferyn A is hit for 16 damage!
It's super effective!
Machoke is hit for 8 damage!
In spite of Corphish's fouled aim, the attack strikes home on the newly-called-out Machoke.
Wispaferyn B is hit for 19 damage!
It's super effective!
Wispaferyn B faints!
The unconscious Wispaferyn is recalled and replaced with a Magnemite.

The Zubat lets out a burst of irritating sound. The other trainer frowns, and you can faintly hear him say, "No Potion? Bah..."
((Obedience Roll = 3))
Clamping one hand over a rocky ear, Geodude digs around with the other and manages to find a stone. This is then sent sailing in Zubat's direction and the other Pokemon takes the hit hard, falling to the ground.
But the Zubat twitches, and lifts its head. It manages to raise one wing. Then the other lifts from the ground of the plaza. And in a sudden burst of speed, it flutters into the air again.

It is as you feared; while both Pokemon are obviously on their last reserves, the Zubat is faster and manages to smack Geodude with a wing before Geodude can retrieve a rock to throw. The hit cracks hollowly, and it's obvious it barely did any damage...but it is enough, as Geodude rolls over face down and doesn't get back up again.

Mark recalled both of his pokemon, sending out Ariados and Houndoom to replace them as he began to feel just a bit of terror. "H-houndoom, please use bite on the Wispferen, Ariados, use Shadow Step on the Machoke and Kirlia use confusion on the Machoke as well." Hopefully Houndoom would be willing to follow his orders, as he was one of the two high leveled pokemon Mark had at his disposal. He hoped that Mina wouldn't mind him using it.
