Again, nice wrok, Ash!
And Ecoris. In chess puzzles, we consider the setup to be the original one, so the first move you make is indeed the first. In this case:
1 e1-e2
Not 45 e1-e2
So castling is still legal.

Hello guys.
This time I will not come up with a new puzzle, but I would like to introduce you to a new chess trick, but before i explain it, take a look at this board setup:
In this case, the player who moves, loses, as his king must abandon the defense of his pawn. This is called double- or mutual zugzwang, we've seen it before.
But take some moves back.
Here, it's white to move.
It would be a fatal mistake for white to play g5-f5, because black sets up the zugzwang position with white to move by moving c4-d4. White must prevent this.
He plays g5-f6!!, which attacks black's pawn. Black has to defend, so he is forced to play c4-d4 (note that d5 is controlled by your pawn). And now white sets up the zugzwang position with black to move after f6-f5. Black must move, white devours the pawn and wins.
This maneuver i've just snown you is called Triangulation. The main point of it is to reach the same position in which you are, but with the other player to move. The name is self-explanatory, though. The white king draws a triangle as he moves, thus forcing the black king to defend his pawn, but only for 1 move. Now, after the manuever, black can't prevent white from promoting his pawn and loses soon.
I hope you enjoyed it Unfortunately I have no puzzles for triangulation, but I'll soon post a serial-helpmate.

OK this is going to be the toughest problem to solve I think, so i give you a small hint. Of course, it is a serial-helpmate, so your first task is to spot the mating position. Not hard to see that white will mate with his knight. So, it will be a smothered mate (when your own pieces block your king's flight squares). To set up such a position, you don't need pawns, but you need major pieces. The key to the problem is to spot how to promote them, into which piece and in what sequence.
Black to move, S-HM in 30.

No, no this is a series-helpmate.
Black makes 30 moves in a row, and only the 31st move is white's, which is also the mating move.

Hello chess enthusiasts
Now that I decided to return to Heroes, I also decided to revive my thread on HC. Phew, what a break! More than a year without Heroes
Anyway, I'd like to know whether you are still interested in chess. I think last time we were dealing with helpmate puzzles. Well, these are extremely tough to figure out, so we return to the basics, and build our knowledge up all over again.
Feel free to go through the previous posts of this thread, I explained a lot of cool rules and tactics about chess. If I see interest, we can carry on very soon.
Thanks a lot, and have a good time learning.

Well, this can happen in many games, so it's not just a trick, it's a combination. In complicated positions many masters sacrifice their Queen if they see a winning mating attack in the next few moves. I've been searching some games including Queen sacs but I haven't found one that is ended by a 2-pawns-mate. But I'll continue searching for it.

OK guys before I go to sleep I'd like to give you a puzzle as a warm-up for the days that lie ahead.
The following game was played between me and one of my friends online. I had the black pieces.
White's last move was a mistake: Qe2-e3? (Question mark indicates mistake) Can you find the winning move? HINT: There's no checkmate on the board, what you need to play for is material advantage. The solution is 3 moves long (3 pairs: 3-3 for both sides)
And one more thing: PLEASE DON'T post your solutions here: let others think as well. However, you can send me a meggage via HCM and tomorrow I'll tell you wether it's good or not.
Good (k)night and have fun.

Antipaladin: No, that's not quite right, but I won't tell you why. We'll analyze the position later today, so you will see why your move is incorrect. Good try, though.
Death and Ohforfsake got it right. Nice job
Still waiting for corrections and other's solutions before revealing the answer.
