I would point links to forums (the forums are not interesting themselves, but what links they post there ) and few articles, but I doubt you would have the time to read and would probably ignore it anyway.

You know, any serious fighter, be it boxing, MMA or anything would laugh at it. I'm not that much of an @sshole, so I just patiently try to explain that Aikido is one of the worst possible choices for a streetfight - and against multiple opponents, no less. It's an art, my friend.

If you are a blacksmith that makes beautiful ceremonial swords, you are an artist. But your swords are pretty much impractical in combat compared to ordinary blade. You can kill with both, but, you know, the simple blade is just better for that.

Come on. The "techniques" presented there are completely RIDICULOUS. And their poses.. their expressions.. rotfl.
oh, well if I am honest about it, I'll say that I don't know that much how it integrates with the whole thing. I mean, we can all just laugh in the eye of what we find funny, but some guys seemed serious enough. Maybe it's my SIRIOUSness that makes me take and analyze all things and not have many prejudices. I don't know. (even in the vid's comments you have some contradictory opinions ).

I think now matter how SIRIOUS you are, you should laugh at Karate Tsunami.

The founder of this "style" has been kicked out of Shotokan Karate for aggresive behavior towards his mate on camps and for not washing his gi (he used to say real samurai did not wash his clothes LOL). He was 7 Kyu back then, which is pretty much a beginner. Yet he suddenly becomes a founder of a new style, that - as he claims - is BETTER than all other, and can teach you how to defend against multiple (lol) ARMED (sic!) enemies!

Moreover, he publishes a book which - along ridiculous photos or horribly INCORRECT techniques - contains misleading "info" and tries to ridicule the other styles, even as successful as BJJ.

He promotes himself to 10th DAN (the highest grade).

He gets his butt handed to him by a random teenager on a karate camp, and he explains that it was too dark for him to see and he could of course kill him with his ultra special techniques (kame hame ha?), but he didn't want to.

And, he's incredibly puffed up, he considers himself a GOD, and his writing style is full of childish impertinence, arrogance and venom. Try to google translate the main page to see for yourself.

Would you call such a person (and his style) normal? Worth respect? rotfl. He's a clown and so is his "style".

Here's one of the "cooler" fragments about Karate Tsunami fighters. I know it sounds stupid, but I wasn't the one who wrote it. Direct translation.

XXX, a 21-year-old student of philosophy, Buddhist  (Tibetan Buddhism), has already become famous in the circle of the masters of tsunami, because he had the opportunity to participate in trainings, especially in theoretical classes. They associate him particularly with its original philosophy of expression and the use of deodorant after each training - to refresh the sweaty body.

OMG HE USES DEODORANT, IT'S WORTH A NEWS ON THEIR MAIN SITE!!!!!!!!111111oneoneoneshift+1shift+1

... so, does it mean nobody else does it after the training? God, their changing rooms really must stink..

Nothing to do with that "clown" you talked about, but you seem to not grasp the idea of beating multiple opponents. I mean, sure, if they are experts in martial arts then of course you don't stand a chance, but against common thugs or any other who don't know how to fight well I think you have a chance, if you're an expert in some good martial arts techniques.

I know it's an art doh, I didn't say it's used for street fighting. You can use it though, and it's effective (in the sense that you get out consciously). Well I don't know why I should continue, since MMA will "laugh at it" anyway, why should I bother continuing?

as for the karate tsunami style, well maybe it is indeed a clown like you said. I never had any experience with it, nor with people who know about it, so I'll take your word for it.

I guess you never will, if this "style" expands beyond Poland, it's the sign that the Apocalypse is coming.

Ash: A guy that claims that any UNARMED style can beat few people with knives and crowbars is a CLOWN.

On the biggest polish sports&MAs forum, there are two Karate tsunami threads, both around 3000 posts, and I've read through them after I got home from hospital. I was pretty depressed after the operation, but those threads made me cry out of laughter TSUNAMI rocks. Well, not in the way the creator wanted it to, tho..

Is there any point to trying to learn this stuff as an adult?  I'm 26 years old, flexible but not very strong...athletic but never had any martial training except fencing.

I watched my friend do BJJ, it looked mostly like ground grappling to me, at least the night I went.  I could build up enough strength for it but it would take me some serious work...

Yes! There is always a point. You think that you're too old to do it? Well, most guys that start at the early age get bored somewhere around the age of 20 or so, or start families, get jobs.. Do you think it's better to train at 12-20, and not at, say, 26-40? Why

I think it's even more fun to train as an adult. Because you have that feeling of accomplishment. Most of contemporaries are already immobilized in their chairs, watching TV all day and getting more and more overweighted. It feels good to know you're doing something else, you know

Well BJJ indeed is ground grappling. It doesn't take much strength, because it's very technical - weight and brute strength matter a bit less than in, say, boxing. Of course if you're 60 kg and your opponent is 120 kg, you're pretty much screwed (unless he's just fat), but if he's 20 kg heavier and a worse technician.. you can win quite easily. BJJ requires good shape, though, because ground fighting takes a lot of energy, you may be horribly exhausted after the warm-up already.

TA: nice to hear that, great choice And good luck!

POW! Right in the Kisser!

EDIT: Boxer guy... I take it you've actually trained martial arts that involve meditation? Or at least tried it out yourself? Don't judge things that you don't have insight in.

I usually take a quiet moment for myself before a match, thinking through my moves etc, and I would consider that meditation since it calms my mind. And being calm owns being stressed out and hyper-active... right?

Maybe you're just not really trying to meditate? If you don't believe in it, it probably won't work. Or maybe you're actually doing it but you have a different name for it?
