Dagoth you're as dramatic as always. I think love is much more like charging yourself to a charging rhino....in space.

Don't know what kind of boring slightly unhygenic love you're talking about with that leper stuff...

Funny thing is i know where Mvass is coming from.
I know how he feels & his likes in life & needs.

Funny thing also is that, there is nothing wrong with that. There is nothing wrong or right about it.
We cant really judge or say he is wrong for who he is.
We can gove advice, but we cant tell him where he is at fault.
Maybe we dont like the person he is but, that is his persona.

Sure i joke around with blowup dolls & partyless blah blah but i know where he is coming from.
To me i respect that.

Yes i knew he only had 1 or maybe 3 parties the most

Some people just don't like parties.
I personally hate them & never go to them.

Why there's so much social pressure on everyone to attend to parties? I never got that myself. No paries = nerd/loser/wanker mentality really annoys me at times.

Considering that a party is a wide term that can refer to any group of people having fun together in any way they like, usually but not even necessarily with music and drinks, yes, whoever doesn't like any kind of party is socially awkward.

Whoever's been to one party their entire life and decided he doesn't like them might as well hear a song by lady Gaga and decide he doesn't like music.

Then again, we probably have different understanding of the term.

Don't forget that some people are loners, however. They don't need to socialize and talk about trivialities with a group of people to feel good and accomplished.

Call me awkward if you like

I see nothing fun in pointless chatter with drunken people, really.

Not all parties have drunk people? I've been to a few and had a great time talking to people. If you go in there with a negative attitude then yes, you'll find it crap. If you make effort then you'll have a fun time.

As opposed to pointless chatter here? Drunkeness optional. I tend to pay more attention to the people I go with, not so much on starting a conversation with others I find in a bar but it all depends. That talk we had with 2 slightly inebriated Brits was absolutely hilarious

Aw, man, not cool. You trivialize and present all kinds of parties as your most hated type, ignoring the fact that there are parties which are nothing like that. And that's not enough, but you also demean and make conspiracy theories about the psychology of people who actually do like going to some kinds of parties and socializing. It's not about feeling accomplished or whatever, it's about having a good time.

Intensively avoiding to hang out with a lot of folks is a tad weird by itself, but not too much. Humans are social animals, but personal preferences are not to be discussed. People often prefer to be alone or in the company of just a few people. No, the real reason why you've just climbed a few steps up the scale of social awkwardness is this sortof elitist attitude that's supposed to present people who like going to some kind of a party every once in a while as shallow, drunken idiots as opposed to the lonesome Übermensch.

Maybe we should get one things straight, women aren't pieces of meat we have feelings too.
Perhaps we should all go back to the days when people actually courted and took time to find things out about each other rather than just jumping into bed. I think in a lot of relationships couples don't talk enough, as great as the physical side is we should learn to communicate in other ways too and get to know each other deeper. This would save a lot of broken marriages, single parents, unwanted pregnancies and STI's.

My attitude is a conclusion from attending to parties, not a prejudice.

What you (and Bak) don't seem to understand here is that I wasn't prejudiced in my earlier years, and no, the "parties" weren't fun anyways. They were just boring. So I stopped and don't attend to them anymore. And it's annoying when people freak out when I say I don't.

No, I actually feel all kind of "social activity" based on gathering in a big group that talks about nothing is boring.

To me you can even ran around naked, recite mongolian literature backwards and drink gasoline - have good time! I don't mind, and certainly wouldn't comment. Be happy with your life, party attenders. However, don't actually create stupid social pressure at people who don't like your kind of fun, calling them nerds, weirdos or else.

Quote:

Hope you're not studying psychology, Bak. I've never seen an analysis that's more inaccurate

No, I don't consider you an idiot, or anyone who attends to parties. As much as I don't consider people liking tennis, tabasco or skateboard riding inferior. I just don't do those things.

And I don't see tennis players calling me weird for not playing tennis.
Tabasco eaters calling me weird for not liking tabasco.

But I sure do see party-attenders calling me weird because their preferred way of spending time is boring to me.

Even now you're doing it, you see

So, since we have that out of picture: yup, parties bore me to friggin death. I prefer an interesting discussion, or even more pointless time spending at some sort of activity, cinema, theathre, sports. Sitting at table sprouting gossip and chattering with 20 people? No thanks. I'd rather do something else.

Mvass do you believe in sex before marriage?

I don't think so. IF people CAN hop into bed with each other freely, they have the hormones out of the way, so-to-speak. It allows being pickier. It's like, ok, the sex is really great, but...
Whereas, without sex, you may understand each other great, but two friends do that as well; if that doesn't work it saves a lot of time.

In my opinion, the sex part is fairly easy to assess; if you are younger, you may be a bit unsure or self-conscious at first, but it will soon be obvious, how compatible you are, sexually, and how big the wow factor is.
The rest is way more difficult and takes time to assess.

Now compare the two ways:
1) You get to know each other well for, say, half a year, doing things with each other. With some things will break apart after a month or two; with those you could imagine to share more time you THEN have sex; since you know each other rather good, and you invested a lot of time and emotion, you will be inclined to invest a little more patience if the wow-effect is lacking, which is mostly a waste of time, because if it's not there, you can forget it in the long run.
2) You have sex fast. If there is no or not enough wow effect, you'll have no problems saying good-bye. If there IS a wow-effect you can still do all the things together and learn to know each as in 1), but yyou'll have more fun on the way. If, after half a year you find that, sadly, you find partner lacking in something, you had a lot of fun, at least.

So I don't think it has to do with courting and waiting and whatnot.
It has to do something with the fact that a 35-year-olds leads a different life than 20-year-olds, and while people grow and develop, a relationship has to grow and develop with them, otherwise the relationship is staying behind in the past, and some day people wake up and notice that everything has changed.

But dude when someone says "I don't need to get drunk and talk about trivialities with a group of people to feel accomplished" in an argument about parties, he can deny it all he wants, but he's being elitist as hell, and he doesn't know a thing about parties. Except that one kind, which he went to and didn't like.

It'd be like a guy who doesn't like sports (me) saying "I don't need to lose time sweating in a gym and running around pointlessly kicking a ball to feel like I'm better than everyone". Not all sports use a ball, it's not pointless, gym doesn't have anything to do with it, it's not about feeling better than everyone, just say it loud, short and clear - you don't like sports cause you don't find them interesting.

(the difference is, of course, that parties are an even more common and varied social activity than sports, but never mind)

Most people who like sports won't quite understand that and will consider it weird; but screw them. If they can acknowledge and accept it, cool, if not, who gives a crap. Whatever the case, making excuses and explaining how your attitude is better than other peoples' just makes you look weirder. And that's what it looked like you were doing now. That's all I'm trying to say.

Internetz. Everyone knows everything about you and can tell everything about your life, experiences, feelings and attitude but YOU never know anything about any subject at all.

What's worse, anonymous people know you better than you know yourself.

Sigh.

The only problem here is that you're the only one constantly adding that "I'm better than everyone" part to my posts, not me.

And I suggest you stop, because you're putting words in my mouth I never said and I never will.

But I guess writing for the 10th time I don't feel superior to anyone is not good enough, you will still insist on me feeling better, superior, uber and all that?

Sigh again.
