Ok, thats just my opinion (although i know all of the good players i know share it, and it developed over full 4+ years).

If you bring the complete H3-Strategy to a "makro-view" it all leads to a single point:

Hit points win the game.

...which should be expanded into..

Hard hit points win the game

That means, if youve more higher level creatures than your opponent, you will win the game 8 out of 10.

So when uve soo much money to spend 15000 bugs ore more, just to increase your main hero on average 4 level, you really have done something wrong in your game.

Lets see..u built all your buildings and bought all your creatures from that town ..well u did something wrong...you had enough money to built the second town ..if u had enough money, why not letting your opponent face two times level7 in the endight, while he has only one with him? Do you think those few secondary skills were really worth it?..No way.

An example:

I had once a very important clan fight against Defreni. We play Hourglass 2, which is a very rich map. He was lucky and got 2 castles, and i was lucky and had 2 towers. So we got this equal fight in the end, which i could win with 3 nagaqueens or something. He fleed and i offered a draw, cause this fight could turn into an endless game. But he said "noway i already build my 3 rampart town". Well what can i say, my ass was toast.

So you can never have enough money.

And if u really think about it. Everytime your main hero opens a treasure he lose 2 tile. Means if he needs 15000 experience for the next level up, he needs about 2 complete turns to do it! Well.. that would i call a waste of time and resources.

Peoples that stick with their weird experience theory, will never have a chance against a really skilled player.

Xarfax1

PS: Btw. Consis...who do you expect to answer to your question, who are your "top dogs"...and why do u think they would answer to such a stupid question??

Stivenīs and Xarfaxīs postings are perfectly well to the point, except for one thing where theyīre totally wrong :

The player who takes experience from chests wonīt even have the higher level hero. Quite the opposite is the case. More gold -> more/better creatures -> higher level combats -> more experience. Throw in the fact that the XP-from-chests player wastes an obscene amount of movement tiles, as it was already mentioned, and itīs obvious that the XP-player can be expected to become seriously outleveled rather quickly.

Unless it is not done for a very specific purpose (like the scholar, or the guy who desperately needs expert Slow), experience from chest is a beginnerīs move. Consis, during my 5 active seasons in ToH I played against most number 1 players, and I can assure you that none of them followed an "XP-from-chests-strategy" .

Where did I spank you ... in this thread?
Anyway ...

Shall it be experience or gold.....this debate has never been proven to fully support either side. I also notice that hardly any of the ToH'ers have given their opinions in this thread. I would tend to listen to them on this matter more so than a regular HC member for the simple fact that ToH has some brilliant and creative competitors. hmm, I wonder what the top dogs think.

You earn enough gold god damn it! .. i Really don't get it, why do you need all that gold? .. With my Capitol and 2+ 2000 gold earnings, i have more than enough to fist up them and get the dwellings that are needed.

And yes, i do start of by buying dwellings, i do not go straight for the capitol.

Like i said, at the START you pick gold, which you all seem to agree on, but later on you pick experience, because you have enough freaking gold anyway, and later on again you switch back to gold, because 1500 experience is nothing to you, since you just bashed 30 titans.

The worst part is the people who picks cash, just gives the reasons:

"The GoSu's are doing it" - Try thinking out of the box!

"You could always use the money" - If you have any idea about cash, you'll have plenty.

"We need it to build up 2nd Castle" - Great, if you know a bit about heroes, you know that money is easy to get.

"You're a noob deal" - Well, you say i'm a noob because i pick experience in mid game, and you're reason for only picking cash is - "The pro's are doing it" - Well great, maybe the "pros" are just good at strategy and lineup, and they just have an idea about money.

So Stiven, i don't care if you disagree, lets just assume that you're a fair player, and you win most of you're games(i'm being nice here) Then lets just let you win you're games, and me win my games, the isn't a debate which is about which is person is the noob, it's about which to pick, Experience, or cash, so please have some mannors and diskuss the subject, instead of talking badly about a guy which you don't know anything about, and a player you've never seen play.

Money is easy to get on certain maps.... on others its hard...

On certain maps its very easy to get xp, on others its harder...

If you feel you have A LOT to learn still, then you better pick cash UNLESS you have enough to build all ur creatures(from 1 to 7) and they are all upgraded.

But as many persons stated, there is a point where you can afford to take xp, when i say take xp, I mean 1500 or sometimes 1000xp...  Sometimes on maps, xp is harder to get... or xp is easy to get if you are neutral or good town(altar of sacrifice) and if you are an evil town and your opponent is a good town, watch out, cuz he might be trading arts for xp... and that xp could be anywhere between 5k and 20k, or even more....

One thing is sure, there is no way to draw a clear line from the moment u can can start taking xp from time to time. The reason is simple, each game is different... You will get different arts, different town... Play a different opponent with different arts and a different town... You will have different heroes... So if you judge that getting this 1 level will give u more than getting the same xp +500 in gold, then u probably should take the xp.

As for the people here... No one is more n00b or less n00b cuz he does things a certain way... heroes 3 is a game... And if you enjoy it by doing certain things, then great because you will remain an happy player who enjoys the game and who will play it longer.

Dear TheRealDeal :-)

Im sorry to inform you that you are a n00b, and 90% of the ToH veterans reading this thread is lol-ing at you when they read your posts..  Just thought it would be fair to inform you of this, since you are unable to discover it on your own.

The thing is, Elite H3 is all about speed:
1st week is startup,
2nd week is early midgame
3rd week is late midgame or early endgame
4th/5th week is endgame

If you play midnight he will attack you at week 3 with an incredible force. If you play a more normal paced h3 vet he might wait until week 4. By week 5 everything is over.

Thats why you need all the gold you can as fast as you can - no exceptions. 2 maxed gold chests mean 1 extra Angel, which totally changes your killing power to the better. Waiting 1 day with buying that troop will cost you the game.

Gold is king. Until you understand this, you cannot advance to the higher tier of h3 players. GL tho

Well I've always taken the experience, as I wanted my hero to get more attack, defense, etc points right away.  After reading through all these posts here, I'm thinking about trying a new strategy and seeing how it works to take the money instead of the experience.  It never hurts to try something new

Normaly i shouldnīt post anything here as the nOOb i am, but even for me itīs easy to understand.
When i hear someone saying "I take the exp. points, coz i want my hero to get more prim. skills and good secon. skills", itīs very easy to explain why this is wrong, and i think it was mentioned sometimes before...

When i get the experience from chests, i will probably get fast to a level 8 or 9 hero....fine...but it wont be much easier to kill letīs say a number 40 level 4 units on day 2 week 2

But if u get all the money from the chests, u will be able to buy all 3 level 7 units and, if needed, some level 6 units aswell, u can kill those guards easily, and u will get more level-ups on the first 2 days of the second week, than u got from the exp. points of the chests in the whole first 8 days..

....just the 2 cents of an average player..

Absolutely. I just never thought of it this way until reading through all the responses here.  Since my little one is now napping, I plan on booting up the game and seeing how it goes.  I love to learn new ways of playing and expanding upon what I thought knew about the game  Which is why I joined here.

If the above posts are correct, I'm a total n00b because I mostly choose XP instead of gold on week 1. I blame my incredible lazy internet connection (56kbps@36kbps).
It's okay to choose XP instead of gold when playing agains AI, but not vs. human opponents. Tomorrow I get my computer back, and then I'll try out different moves vs. AI and my little sister. I'll kick her ass, regardless how I play. It's just a question of how much I win.
