Agreed. 4 hours a week is shamelessly lazy. Should be 8 hours indeed.

Unless you are like J.K.Rowling

In balkans you work 8 hours for 200$ or so especially at less developed contries.

You got it all wrong, at least in my (and some others') case.

It has nothing to do with being lazy or not. When I don't work or sleep I don't just lay in bed or over the couch, I still work but either for my hobbies or for other stuff needed to be done (house-cleaning, buying food, etc). Obviously I also have some entertaining moments either at the PC or TV (the latter being a rare case though)

The entire 8-hours-too-much point was that it takes too much from your 'free' time (half a day because sleep isn't considered 'free' time, at least not by me ). Also, as some others pointed out most of the time you don't even need 8 hours to finish what you have to do, so you just stay there in the 'prison' bored waiting for the horrible work-day to end. So if anything, staying there because of having too many work hours per day, while your task is pretty easy, makes you lazier

For those who claim otherwise, I suppose Linux and all other open-source AND free software and other types of 'hobbies' were made by lazy bastards eh? [/sarcasm]

Some people have to work those hours to survive.
Some people are too spoiled to even attempt it.
I also learned never to argue with someone from a different country

With love of course

By the way I worked only 2 hours

Just reduce your sleeping time then..

6 hours of sleep is enough for an adult. If you work 8-10 hours a day, use 1,5 hours for all eatings a day, 1-2 hours of driving to work and back, you still have 4,5-7,5 hours EACH working day for doing things you like.

Where is the problem?

Organization is all you need..

If I reduce my sleep time, I won't be of any use to anybody. Too tired and concentration = fail.

I've tried working 8hours a day already, and even though theory works like you say, angelito, practice differs.. I had like ~2 hours each day left and I was extremely tired, so I just sit in front of my PC thinking how miserable that kind of life is

Well, I guess so. First month was a nightmare though. I gave up on gym and bjj club, because I felt too tired for that. I no longer wonder why people get fat and in bad shape so fast when they start working, they just don't have enough energy to do everything they want, working burns out too much

Of course there are people who work, study, train and do XXX other things, but.. they just are that way, I guess. Very vigorous.

No, the average sleep time is around 8 hours (or 7.5)

I read it countless times that the humans (on average, of course there are exceptions) have a sleep time of about 8 hours.

I did a quick search with Google as well:
Quote:
There is, in fact, a wide range of sleep time that is considered "normal." While the average normal amount of sleep is around 7.5 hours per night, there are some people who do just fine on 5 hours per night, and some who require as much as 9 hours per night.

That's what he meant (I think). Some are fine on 6, some are fine on 5 whatever. He didn't say the average, he just said that it should be enough for an adult.
