Well I personally don't mind the change, but I can imagine all of the people now stuck with flood protection again.
Then again, I don't post nearly enough (not usually anyways) to break my limit. 
I think this will be a good change, although I will miss the second set of stars below my avatar.

In one way I do understand those who've been here long and then these stars are suddenly gone. They were symbol of quality, and I believe some of you might have actually aimed to gain more of them, just because they are QUALITY points, in some point of your membership. I'm not talking about any certain member here, so don't get offended. But I hope you don't think you're not appreciated just because those stars are gone. You might be mad right now, but hopefully you don't leave here just because of those stars. You have earned them in some point in your membership, that means YOU HAVE DONE SOMETHING GOOD. That is much more than red stars under your avatar, and that wont vanish. It will remain in other members' memories. Let's say you have helped someone, made a guide, made a mod... and were granted a QP. Now the QP is gone but think about the happy face of kainc or any other member that you have helped. Am i sounding like a flower girl here?  well it's very late (02:49) here and I revealed my soft side, again.
I have never been too competitive, so perhaps that's why I don't care about those stars. Since that's what they've become... trophies of argument. In other hand, maybe I'm just too old to realize this fuzz anymore.
So, I agree with Pan and Val here.
Hopefully you can get over those QPs and dwell happily in HC in the future

Aculias, your comments towards my penalty prove that you didn't even get the main point why I didn't like it. As I said it was not the fact that I lost a quality count, I even said that if the mods want it they could have removed one of my QPs. So please get the situation and facts right before starting to comment, especially if you're going to insult me
And can you cut the "Asheera whined" crap? I find that offensive and my comments were not even close to whining. They were just my response to the situation, or is it that I should just shut the hell up and let the Mods decide my entire HC existence without even questioning anything?

Being as noticeable and astute a person, I just now noticed the subtraction of the quality post stars. And I just have one thing to say: so be it.
I may be the only one that feels this way, and by all means, Val take the darn things away, but if there's no differential between the meaningful posters and the commonplace trawl then its a community I am loathed to be apart of. Mark my words, my days are numbered.
Let's channel this disgruntled attitude to a purpose.
Five Damn Good Points for QPs
Motivation - Sure, QPs aren't worth anything except better posting speed and limit. However, without them, why would one have to strive to post in better context. There's no point except for bettering the community. That's the thinking of any new member, which leads into my next point.
Ambition - With nothing to return for great works, why would newbs bother to post anything worthwhile. Moreover, why would they even make good posts in the first place, there's no incentive to entice them into the communities limelight, thus the stagnation of their combined attitudes will damn the future of the community.
Contests? Bah - Now, what's the colliseum going to do now? Give you ribbons? Without QPs, the Collisuem is essentially dead, with no reward for contests. Same with RPGS, why even bother to go that extra mile if your not QP fetching or you know that nothing will say you did something great, or I have a good post somewhere.
Esteem - Quintessentially the most important quality of a good member. They want to feel like they've earned something, that they've done something that makes them feel wanted. They have motivation to post more, sometimes in less than adequate places, but all the same, their motives are there. Other members see them as paragons, someone to look up to. Without QPs, that area of the community doesn't exist.
Just Plain Nice - The most obvious, blunt point I can put down here is that its nice to be nice. It feels good to have earned that little red star. It boosts your encouragement to maybe make another cool mod or start an interesting contest. If you won the game before, nothing feels better than to host another knowing that you've got some experience in it. Maybe just as trophies, all the same, the point gets across.
That's my thoughts, take what you wish of them. This is a BIG culture shock to the community. Don't expect people to take it lightly. Me, what's a rusty ole bag of bones gonna do about it, So I'll prevail. This is my call to everyone else, that a lots going away with QPs, but the community will always be here.

This whole issue has happened because of the -QP you have gotten.
Dont you understand?
All of this hapened because of the issue.
You threatened to quit almost full time because of the reasons given that you lost the -QP.
Enough to where i had to make a thread so I was reassured that Pandora would not quit.
You should not take that offensive my comment.
You should take it as a positive remark.
Like I said, it happens.
You did not need to get carried away about it.
The people who like you did not have to make such a hugh deal out of it.

Just on a starting note, you made some excellent points in your edit and I just want to make it known that I'm not trying to quote you out of context in any way here, your other post is just too big.
I'm going to use a Warhammer Forum, Warseer, as an example here. Now, Warseer does have paid subscriptions or something (as far as I can determine) that give you a nice little star next to your username. But, there's no reward for a really good post. However, Warseer still has plenty of really, really good posts. But more importantly, what you refer to, the differential between the "commonplace trawl" and the "meaningful" posters is still there. It's just solely in the eyes of your peers, the community.
Just because we no longer have QPs does not mean we won't be judged on the quality/humor/validity of our posts by our peers, and gain a reputation accordingly. One differential has been removed, but the ultimate differential between someone who spams Wastelands and someone who makes five total conversion texture mods or something of that nature is still there. And that differential is your actual, real, fake Internet () reputation.
