In direct response to the thread title (since I just remembered a comment my Zoology professor said about James D. Watson last year)...
Just go read what Watson has to say about the residents of the continent of Africa...
From the way he rambles on, you'd think they were different species.
Seriously, if I ever meet him, I'm going to shake his hand and subsequently kick him in the groin.

If they have much different DNA then they are another breed/speices.

The term breed does not apply to humans.

Humans are not special from other animals.
So if their DNA is different then we are different breeds/speices.

Well, xerox, I like to think we're different species, but that's not true...
Everything biological has different DNA, even plants, so according to your logic, we are different species and I believe that, but by your logic a dog is a different species when you compare it to a dog...
So a dolfin is a different species from a dolfin...
Hooray!

How many times do I need to tell you people can't be "breeds" ?
I'm happy I'm not your teacher. ^_^
breed requires a selective picking of specimen with desired features and crossbreed them
Does ANYBODY picks through humans to create a breed of "tall people" or "big nosed people"?
No. Thus, there are no human breeds.
And species, I already covered that, I guess: Homo sapiens IS a specie. And we all belong to it. Another specie would be the extint homo neanderthalensis, for example.

That means MAJOR DNA change or major and major, like a Human to a Chimpanese (lol).

Quote: Well they don't mean that everyone is exactly the same. It's not attack of the clones, but they generally mean that the differences are trivial in that they shouldn't create prejudice and inequality in the way different races interact..
Of course I agree with you, but this thread seems to be more about biology than social qualities or whatever other human qualities, so it's only fair in this thread, we'll focus on those differences.

Same species = same chromosome arrangement
chromosome is a single piece of coiled DNA containing many genes
Male human = 46xy
Female human = 46xx
that's apply for all human race

@Darmo: Assuming that they are perfectly normal and have no alterations to their chromosome count, then yes, you are correct.
But someone with Down's Syndrome has three chromosomes in pair #21 (instead of the normal 2). They are still human.

The Melanocortin gene is the major difference (in skin colour) between black and white people. It simply makes black peoples skin darker (by creating more dark pigments) than whites, just to protect them from the sun. People from Africa and Australia (which are the major "black" continents) have been more exposed to the sun than white people and therefore adapted and created the MC1R-genes. There are of course other genes that affect this, but I think this is the one that most sientist says are the one that makes the biggest differences.
Ouch! I just realized (again) what a nerd I am!

Already done, Winterfate! Already done...
EDIT: Oh, I'm not sure about red or yellow though. But I guess they have a gene creating yellow and red pigments. Duh!

There goes your theory. Those two aren't even in the same order, yet alone species.
