"it depends on the swamp. Some say that swamps are just areas where water stops flowing and it turns into this fetid mess but i do not believe it. swamps are full of evil creatures and dark magics... but then again... i was not an elf in my home world."

"Sounds like some kind of collecting contest." Dr Doom thought to himself as Brent introduced his companions. He didn't dare ask more as Brent seemed to talk about the contest as something widely known and Doom didn't want to raise any suspicion by implying otherwise. Pity, because a widely known contest might have an interesting prize to it. But in any case they couldn't do anything about it as the two of them, being in completely new bodies and with no Doom Bots in sight could not handle for foes at once to take their treasure anyway. And besides, they had more important things to do now, like figuring out where they were.
However, with their new acquaintance being so talkative, Doom couldn't help but give it one last try to get some more info about the contest:
"Well met... I don't wish to be annoying, but... is there any chance you would let us take but a glimpse of the items you've gathered so far? To my great shame, I must admit that curiosity gets the better of me, I just want to see for myself what's all the fuss is about if you understand."

“Unfortunately we don’t have the rest with us; they’re sitting in storage since the Judge marked them off our list. It’s not much to look at anyway; just a bit of pirate flag, an old shark’s tooth—I suppose the offering plate may have been rather nice before the tarnish got to it,” he allowed.
“’S not the best idea to be lugging that kind of stuff around here,” Raith interjects seriously, though he’s still looking at the pair of you upside down. “Nasty sorts wandering around with the contest; Sal and his gang were hanging around the Temple to the Moon last I heard, but they aren’t the only ones.”

The contestants follow the trail of footprints deeper into the swamp. They hear another group of adventurers plodding through the underbrush at one point, but the latter pass by out of sight. Eventually they come to a still pool in a small clearing—or perhaps it would be more accurate to say, the pool was the small clearing, as the only thing approaching solid ground in it is a small island at the center. The footprints vanish into the water but reappear on and around the island; the only other feature of note is a patch of mushrooms circling the island of raised earth. The buzzing of more snake creatures is also louder and more prevalent here, but for some reason the beasts seem to be avoiding this portion of the swamp.

Rikku didn't recall seeing any form of a town, city, etc nearby, as they entered this structure. It may be best to ask how to get to this Judge, at the very least. Though, it may sound odd, if just straight-out asked.
"Ah, how do we get back to the Judge? We got lost, and it turns out we lost our map too."

“Ah. The simplest way would be to just follow the coastline back to town and keep going until you reach the town hall. You could also cut through that way” Brent points roughly southeast “it would be a little more direct, but of course you’d have to contend with the swamp itself.”

Glenn looks across the water. He is unsure of its depth. Unsure more so, of whether he would be able to cross it or not. Perhaps with his old body, but he didn't know about this one's lung capacity, or any other problems that may be present. Given his height, he didn't even think it a good idea to try and walk across.
"Anyone have an idea on how we might cross?"

Dr. Doom was pleased. It seemed they managed to extract all the information they could from that group without raising any suspicion. However, fun as it was, he still had no idea where and why they were and these people clearly weren't the ones to ask that. They needed to get back to civilization and find some kind of newspaper or whatever they have in this world to see the date and the name of the country they're in.
"You have our gratitude for taking the time to converse with us. But I believe it is time for us to leave, so we will let you continue with your search. Good day and good luck in the contest."

Checking the surroundings for vital clues was Doom's initial idea, but the team they just met probably took anything interesting on their search already. Still they were more focused on certain items and could've missed something so a quick glance wouldn't hurt.
"Fine. You attend to the cellar, while I go check the shed nearby. Meet with me outside when you're finished."

Glenn prepares himself for a swim only to find that the water, opaque and ominous-looking as it seems, only comes up to his waist even in his short halfling body.
Jack looks up from his absent-minded examination of a tree to grin at him. “Looks like we aren’t going for a swim after all, mates.”
Glenn and those that follow him make it across to the island without difficulty, save a few instances of getting stuck in the mud at the bottom. Jack squirrels up the tree he was examining and untangles a bit of vegetation, attempting to swing across the water—but the vine comes up short, or perhaps he misjudged the distances involved, because he lands a couple feet shy of the island and has to take a few hasty, staggered steps to save him/herself from a face full of swamp muck. Nevertheless he recovers quickly carries himself as though that were his intention all along.

Rikku examines the cellar while Doom makes his way to the shed.
From the looks of things, someone has been in the cellar already; there is dust everywhere, but it has been disturbed in places and there are clean patches on the weapon racks around the room where equipment has been removed. The lock also appears to have been tampered with, as the door around it has been scraped away by something sharp. Nevertheless, Rikku finds an old dagger behind one of the weapon racks and a single gold coin buried in the dust.
Doom’s search is a little more fruitful; perhaps due to its proximity to the much more visually impressive tower, it seems no one has searched inside it yet. He finds vegetation covering the floor inside and some old equipment hanging from the weathered walls—most notably a tattered old net and an old fishing spear. Rough tables are set against the walls, their surfaces specked with dry fish scales; a hammer sits atop one table and a stained old bucket sits in one corner. On second inspection, the vegetation covering the floor appears to be berry plants of some kind; the fruits are bright red and bunched, rather like grapes.

"Well, that was fairly amusing." Mark said as the woman failed to get to the island by line. "Anyway, we're here now, so what do we do? I for one vote for exploration of this small island. 'Leave no rock unturned' as they say in Laus, thought that is a rather stupid idea. Never the less...let's go!"
Mark started walking towards the middle of the island and inspecting it as he strolled.

Doom was a bit disappointed that he couldn't find anything useful for his situation, although he didn't expect much from this shed in the first place. He glanced outside to check if his companion finished his search yet. When he didn't see anyone, he decided to walk around the shed for a bit, this time looking inside the bucket, under the tables and other similar places to pass time.
