It is definitely easier than Brood War, but I don't think that it is mentally easier. I've played and watched pro BW a lot and never was actually pissed about the game. Even though it is harder and you have a ton more stuff to do, it isn't nearly as unforgiving as SC2 is, and in that aspect I think that SC2 is harder than BW and that is the reason why is... more mentally exhausting than BW.
Maybe it sounds strange, but most of the time in BW you both play your hearts out and player that played better that match-up always wins in the end. In SC2 there are ton of situation where you have played great game so far, and it all fells apart in 5 seconds... 1 missed Force Field, 1 second not watching your army and let it all die to bunch of Banelings, 1 bad misclick with Drones and let them all line up and die to 3 Hellions, moment when Thors hit your bunched up Mutas that you are not watching etc...
Don't get me wrong, those situations happen in BW too, but they are not happening as often as they are in SC2 and certainly are not as gamebreaking as they are in SC2, because in BW comebacks are quite common.
After SC2 games, you are just... frustrated. No matter the outcome, you win some or lose some, but you are a lot more pissed about those that you've lost than satisfied with those that you've won.
At least that is my case and why I've stopped playing SC2. I am watching only pro matches right now, and sometimes I am getting pissed just by watching them.

Heck not only logging off from the game feels like the end of a working day. Logging in the game feels like the start of your work shift. You rub your temples and focus, because this is serious, because you're about to give it your 110 % percent...
Yes, I fully agree that SC2 is frustating, way more frustating. No doubt about that.
But in terms of skill, BW is much harder: no smart casting, no multiple building selection, 12 limit unit selection, pathing (dragoons)...

Yup. But for me, frustrating things are a lot more mentally exhausting than need for good mechanics.

Well, we are all starting from somewhere. Since I had good RTS experience, I've started from platinum/diamond level, I was playing SC:BW and WC3 a lot.
Try watching competitive pro matches, they are really amazing when you know how hard is something to execute and you realize that Pros are executing that well, together with doing 10 other things at the same time.

Great play by Heart, I just wish we could say the same for Xigua. He did a bunch of amateur mistakes, like trying to fight head on huge MMMM + Thors army with Ling, Bane and Mutas off creep and just losing majority of his units while doing little to no damage...
If he was just constantly harassing with his Mutas, while waiting for Heart to make a mistake and attacks on creep, there would be no splits that could save Heart from that amount of Banelings.
Oh well, still great comeback from Heart. I just think that if it was against some other top Zerg, it would be pretty much impossible to comeback.

I didn't watch this game, but I imagine just like Mvp vs Tefel, the power of mules alone isn't enough for that kind of comeback. Z player must had played terrible.
What a terrible finals... You guys that didn't watch it, DON'T!
Jesus, Zest vs. SoO finals were beautiful in comparison to this, even with all of the chokes that both SoO and Zest had. This was just sad.

I completely forgot the finals :S
Good thing that you've forgot them, they were horrible. I woke up at Saturday, 8am for this frustrating, disturbing snow... what a waste.

Being so early, I knew I wouldn't watch them...not even if I was woke up by some random thing at 8:40 like it happened today, lulz.
Awwww, poOr soO, now everyone will call him Kong, despite the incredible difficulty of reaching GSL finals three times in a row, in a time where GSL are few and far between this days. I feel so bad for him
____________
Woohooo, there are two 3-player maps in the map pool now. Merry Go Round is vetoed so heavily that you always just saw the same maps, haha, forced to pick one of the 3 player maps now.

Frost is gone, I'm almost to say finally. It deserves an honour among the best SC2 maps ever, together with Whirdwind, Clauf Cloud Kingdom and Metalopolis maybe?
A shame Habitation Station is gone, it produced many memorable games and a very special metagame.
And as you already mention, two 3-player maps, yay!
Overall I really like this mappool, though, as always we have to see them in action

You forgot Daybreak. It was overused, yes, but it still was one of the best SC2 maps we had.
I am sad that Frost is gone, as you said, it was one of the best maps in the Starcraft 2. I am ok with other removals.
About new maps, Foxtrot Labs and Nimbus are really really good. A lot of strategic positions on these maps, hiding places, spots that can be abused and they feel like maps with great strategic value.
Foxtrot Labs has gold bases that creates a path when they are mined out and overall looks like a more Complex Cloud Kingdom with a twist, I can't wait to see matches on this map, I think that it will be the best by far in this map pool!
Deadwing is okaish, nothing special, seems quite simple but we have yet to see how matches will be looking on this map.
I don't like Catallena at all, I don't know it just isn't appealing.

PS: All the four maps from the TLMC4, this may be the first time they don't take maps from the korean mapmakers (or those who made GSL maps in the past). Some TLMC maps had huge success in the past (Cloud Kingdom, Frost, Ohana, Habitation Station) while a few were dissapointing (like Korhal Compound...and Yeonsu maybe?). I have high expectations from this maps anyway
PPS: Again all 5 (long time) KeSPA teams at the top of Proleague round. Also SKT repeating final, they've been in the finals 3 out of 4 rounds!
