Rank your best creatures
Heroes3 got many good creatures but here is my ranking
Level 1: Centaur captain - Strong and fast
Level 2: Marksmen - Shootes twice
Level 3: Royal Griffin - Fly and got unlimited retalations
Level 4: Archmage - Shoots and make the spells cheaper
Level 5: Minotaur Kings - High health and great attack
Level 6: Naga Queenes - very strong and high health
Level 7: Archangels - No need for explanation

Level 1 Centaur
Level 2 Magog/Gargoyle/Harpy
Level 3 Beholder/Cerberus/Gryphon
Level 4 Medusa/Basilisk
Level 5 Minotaur/Lich/Dendroid/Thunderbird
Level 6 Manticore/Naga/Black Knight/Unicorn
Level 7 Hydra/Phoenix
Those are simply the best creatures homm has

I think i give this a shot too
Level 1: Skel´s (Could there be anything else after playing necro on random? )
Level 2: Marksmen (orrin, bow and MM... )
Level 3: Royal Griffs (Perfect to defend those MM)
Level 4: Crusaders (Awesome killers)
Level 5: Mighty MOOOOOO´s (MOOOO power rocks)
Level 6: Dreads (High hp and double dmg&curse is nice too)
Level 7: Arch Angel (hmmmm..ya)

skels or cents, wolf raider, cerberi and drag fly, vamp lord, mooouuus, sultans and dreads, and L7 totally depends, i would go for ancients on open field and blacks in town, archangels/devils vs the comp

1st Sprites-great in beggining for mines
2nd Storm E`s-shooters with high hp
3rd Grand Elves-hmm...they shoot!...twice!!!
4th Silver Pegasi-for speed
5th Mighty Gorgons-its great to see that extra two peasants dead
6th Dread Knights-two specialities combined with good hp,a,d
7th Phoenixes-even Azures run in fear from them

1 - hobgoblins (centaurs are too expensive)
2 - obsidian gargoyles (they rule w/ piquedram)
3 - orc chieftains (cast precision on them)
4 - demons (inexpensive)
5 - dendroids (tough and cheap ... give them to Ryland)
6 - wyverns (poisoning is cool)
7 - ghost dragons (aging kicks @$$)

Here we go lol
lv1-skeletons equal lv1 stats & a ton in #'s
lv2-harpy hags they are pest, but you can irritate other players with thier no counter fly back
lv3-I say grand elves for their double attack power
lv4-I like Basilisk good streghnth & can turn you to stone lol
lv5-Mighty Gorgons their death stare is undeniable
lv6-cyclop kings, not just because they are my fav in the game but I love their attack power & how you can use their rocks in siege attacks
lv7-I love Hydras,their attack to hit everyone next to them & I love when I have teleport With expert water magic lol.

i'd think that army get killed all u would need is tactics and either exp. slow or haste and non of your archers go. then its up 4 arch angels, orge magi and goblins.

1.Centaurs Captains(Don't you just love them)-good speed & dmg2-3 <-> the weakest Lv creature- Imp
2.Marksmen -They shoot twice <-> dwarfs
3.Grand elves<->Stone golem
4.Crusader/Vampires<->horned demon
5.Minotaur King/Zealot <->Pit Lords
6.Champion/Dread Knights <-> naga
7.Angels/Dragons <-> hydra

I don't mind seeing this old thread revived; when I started playing a few months ago, I went back to it and enjoyed it. However, there are already threads for "best level 1 creature", "best level 2", and so on.
Perhaps what we really need is "pick an army" -- one creature of each level -- because maybe the best creature from each level makes a bad army. Here's an example: suppose I chose master gremlins, storm elementals, GEs, ArchMagi, Zealots, Cyclopes Kings, and Titans. You could cast expert forgetfulness and I'd be unhappy. Also, I have troops of 5 alignments, so I get bad morale.
So, what would I really pick as best creature?
1 Sprite -- speed 9, no retaliation, the AI never attacks any other units until the Sprites are all gone.
2 Harpy Hags -- speed 9, no retaliation, how can you resist?
3 Dragon Fly -- speed is everything, shooting is overrated!
4 Pegasus -- most people underrate them.
5 Mighty Gorgon -- well, okay, speed isn't everything :-) otherwise I'd take the Thunderbird
6 Efreet Sultan -- Level 6 units are all good, but I've been burned by that fire shield enough that I'll pick them even though I've never had a good big stack of them in my own army.
7 Archangel, the majority choice; but two Phoenixes may be better than 1 AA.

I'll rank my creatures on Mythology rather than usefulness in the game
Level 1 - Skeletons 
Level 2 - Stone Gargoyles
Level 3 - Cerberi, legendary gaurdian of the underworld
Level 4 - Vampire, i wish i could bite people without them fighting back
Level 5 - Monks, HADOKEN
Level 6 - Manticore, it's got a cool name, and it looks mad
Level 7 - Hydra, immortal beast with 9 heads

Level 1 - I have to stick with Centaur Captian
Level 2 - Marksmen
Level 3 - Dragonflies (You will go first in battle most of the time, and weakness is useful)
Level 4 - Crusaders
Level 5 - Without a doubt, Gorgons.
Level 6 - Dread Knights
Level 7 - Chaos Hydra

efreet, speed and fire sheild

level 1 Centaur (over average speed)
level 2 Storm Elemental (too strong to be placed in level 2)
level 3 Royal Griffin (unlimited retaliaton)
level 4 Vampire Lord (life drain)
