I never said workers can't be automated, you have a reading problem of you didn't drink your morning coffee, or not enough sex, dunno why you are so hedgehog mode.
I said you can't activate them on a given pattern: in civ4 you could tell them make money improvements or roads. Then they would do one or another. Here you can't.
The zoom: in civ4 you could zoom until see their nuts from below, therefore they had to polish graphics. Here they are comfortable, they fix you maximum zoom at 11 distance, but if you check either in Granny editor or change values in game, you will be surprised how raw are the graphics. I think is not a good thing, given that most games focus on graphics first.
The combat system, there is no question about brain or not. This is a change similar to the one from H3 to H4, radical mechanics change.
If I want to micromanage my armies one by one, there is Starcraft game. Or Command and Conquer. Civilization 1-4 were universal strategical where you didn't have to focus on combat like you do know. You could simply stack armies then send them on the other side of the world in one click, then, in the meaning time, take care of your economy, diplomacy and such. Now you have to send each one, if path is blocked it will stop as dumb, of course you can't see what is blocking, so you will have to move each unit hex by hex, click after click. It starts to look too much RTS to my taste.

Yea, there is no default feature like that, it doesn't stop you however to make use of shift + action to customly automatize.
I don't care about graphics at the zoom level. No one's playing that way, so if they left it a little bit rough that probably saved them money to invest elsewhere where it matters more. At normal level the graphics look good. That's my take on it, of course you have all the right to say it's visually displeasing at close-up level but the question is, does it really matter? To me graphics are like the icing on the cake, they don't ever bother me.

That's because you choose to associate it with RTS. In reality, it doesn't follow. Micromanagement can, and usually is used in every type of game. Total War has it, Heroes has it, even Dota 2 has it for some heroes. You're at liberty to think that micromanagement made Civ 5 more RTS, I think it didn't made it more RTS than any previous iterations.

Been playing Sid Meier's Pirates! and Don't Starve: Reign of Giants.
Pirates is awesome. nearly handed mot of the power in the Caribbean to the frenchies, because raiding spaniard galleons is so bloody profitable.
My current playthrough:
Get a Brig of War/Frigate/Large Frigate
Get all the upgrades for the shio
Amass a large crew (500-600)
Raid Spaniard ships and sack their cities non stop.
as well as charm the beautiful daughter of a governor, dig up treasures and all that good crap.
The story is pretty bland, and there is some aspects I could pick on, like lack of any character customisation and the ability to make your own jolly roger and such. but it doesn't get in the way that much.
Pretty good game overall. Wish there was a sequel/remake for it.
Don't Starve...
the new features are pretty amazing.
Would be amazing if I could survive more than 25 days, but that's just my own incompetence and foolishness.
oh hey, let's tear down the pigmen houses for materials and camp out here for the night! *fool moon comes* *all the pigmen turn into werepigs* * unable to outrun the horde* *horrific death*
epic.

Hunted down spies for Jauffre in Oblivion. I don't think my associates up at Cloud Ruler Temple realize that they aren't going to see me any time soon now that Martin just point-blank ordered my evil Altmer mage to go make pacts with Daedric Princes. Eeheehee, POWER!

It's nice when you can actually feel allowed to be distracted in Beth games
Like, you're tasked with this mission of absolute highest divine importance and you're supposed to justify taking time off to help the villagefolk with their daily **** haha.

How about a Civilization thread, by the way? The game is fairly popular with HoMM fans and we could use some heated (albeit civil) discussions on the matter

Playing Napoleonic Total War as Hungary, cannot wait to get into it. <3
Also going to play a few sessions of Age of Empires 3, and Age of Mythology with a couple of buddies. Hopefully once all of us get better at civ 5 we might play that too.

It's almost twelve.
It's a perfectly valid idea to fire up Dragon Age at this point.
Right?

Does Inquisition have any good mod support? I recall the original having quite the active nexus page.
Watched the angry review and got kinda interested... playing as a ruler more than an adventurer... neat.

I have absolutely no idea.
It does have some need for mods though. Picking up all those herbs, GAH. Please autopick for me.
Oh yeah, you've never played Zeldas have you Ad?
You really should play Twilight Princess for the Wii. The combat is glorious
Also makes me so sad Wii doesn't have mount and blade or chivalry, even dark souls with those control would be epic.

Twilight Princess? My favorite Zelda game (though I must say, I didn't play most of them). Incredibly climatic and very satisfying.
The Shadow Realm and especially wolf transformation where great mechanics (the wolf one is one of my favorite mechanics of all time). Don't know if it's sth to boast about, by I've completed the entire game without looking into any walktroughs. I've only used youtube once for a sliding riddle cause I hate them, and I always have a problem with solving them...
Apart from that, I'm playing Pokemon Omega Ruby now. After that (probably a months worth of playing) I'll be playing Tears to Tiara II which I'm getting for Xmas. I'm a bit anxious about the complaints about it being more of a visual novel then a playable game, but I was lured by it's raw turn-based gameplay and highly complimented story. We'll see...
Oh, and I've bought my brother Watch Dogs Dedsec Edition as a present (it had a highly attractive price drop), so I'll probably be playing that one too

Screw the wolf, it's lame and annoying.
But the swordfight mechanics when you've unlocked all the cool stuff? OH YES.
How do you shield bash? By actually using your off-hand to hit forward! It's a glorious feeling
My only gripe is that I can't perform horizontal and vertical sword strikes independent of each other without moving around. It was possible in earlier establishments and with the wiimote it would have been just that much better.

I found it great and unique in terms of gampelay.
Besides that's exactly why devs are so afraid to introduce various transformation mechanics or anthropomorphic characters: "Furries yuck!". I'm not a furry (but who knows? Not officially... ), but I actually do like to play with something other then plain ol'boring humans or humanoid races. Things like werewolf transformation in Skyrim are seldom and not full-blown imo...
At least we have MMO's, though I'm more of a singleplayer so that's that...

I think it's funny to consider you've to be at an elevation of ~2 kilometers before you can see 120 km away (assuming your target is at sea level).. unless your target is elevated too.
