I recently grabbed Spyro Reignited + Crash N. Sane trilogy in a double pack (50% off) on PS4 Spring sale.
I'm continuing my nostalgia gaming, the older I get the more childish games I buy
That said both games have a very special spot in my heart, as both are a symbols of my childhood dream to own a Playstation One (which was out of reach at that time due to its price). In case of Crash I even remember drawing some imagined levels inspired by those in the game. Spyro was another PS mascot of those times so it also picked my interest (plus the MC is cheeky freakin' dragon )
24 years later and I bought those gorgeous remasters of both trilogies, and I somewhat feel like a child again. Both games are charming, made with painstaking respect and feel nostalgic yet modern.

I gave Master of Magic a brief try. It has a lot of good ideas, but ultimately the gameplay is just too dated. Even HoMM 1 feels more modern. MoM doesn't even have edge panning, so you have to click on the minimap to look at different parts of the map.

I am playing Baldur's Gate 2 for the first time. It's rather tough, but it's also incredibly fun. This game is like nothing I have played before really, not even BG1. The atmosphere is soo good, especially the main city feels really dangerous and alive.
Apart from that I am playing as much Heroes 3 as I haven't played in a long time right now.

Inbetween writing my bach, playing Skyrim and Crossout.
Crossout is basically world of tanks, mad max and Lego combined. you have pieces, you build your automotive abomination, and you go either battle against other players or complete PVE stuff. is pretty fun. f2p as well. and doesn't weight 846851556126 terabytes.

Here's a fun little game I've been eyeing for some time, and bought:
Them's Fightin' Herds
Yep, you see it right, it's about animated, fightning ungulates
There is an interesting story behind it. Back in the day a bunch of "bronies" made an indie game called My Little Pony: Fighting is Magic, which as you probably dedudced, was a homage to the original MLP: FIM that featured the original pony cast as fighters. Down came Hasbro who wasn't very happy about using their unliscensed intelectual property and enforced a closure of the project.
It would proabbly be the end of it, but the indie devs decided to make another game based on this (they've already put a lot of work into it). The project was noticable enough that the original creator of MLP, Lauren Faust, decided to step in. She actually proposed to create original characters for the game and even make lore for it. The project went to indiegogo, where it made 500k - enough to complete it plus more. There were more contributors like Lab Zero (Skullgirls) who let them use their own game engine (after another indiegogo campaign), and ofc the brony community was heavily involved.
The game itself works fine as a meme, but is actually a well polished, and very responsive (even on keyboard) 1 vs 1 fighting game, which is probably a first game featuring quadrapedal fighters The soundtrack is also pretty catchy.
I wonder if HoMM community would be able to achieve such a feat, and pilot a project outside of Ubisoft reach, that would be based on the franchise and even enlist the original creators...

Space Engineers. It's just funny to take a world template from the workshop and then do whatever you want, like blowing the place up!
But the game mostly concentrates on space survival, including creation of bases, ships, etc., with trade routes or anything of sorts (trade routes don't really exist, tho) being completed manually or by scripting a ship path and such, nothing is done automatically there (like going from planet-to-planet, you have to travel yourself, or just let the ship automatically fly in a straight direction and only when entering the atmosphere start controlling it).

There is currently a Steam game festival: https://store.steampowered.com/sale/gamefestival
Sale and a lot of indie games/small or medium sized game developers participate with their products. A lot of fun titles to try as many have demos or early access.
My personal picks:
- Griftlands
To put it simply: Slay the Spire but in sci-fi setting, a more robust card battle system (for example you have not only "battles" but also "negotiation battles"). Early Acess but already very polished (from the makers of "Don't Starve").
- Black Book
A mix of narrative driven point and click adventure and turn based battles (with "card system") set in Tzar Russia. If you're into slavic legends and the occult the you will like it. Very atmospheric with a mix of cell-shaded and hand drawn graphics.
- Spiritfarer
I don't know how to describe it. It's a simple managment game in which you help anthropomorfic spirits to pass on to the afterlife by fulfilling their requests. Kinda plays like Animal Crossing but with actual plot, without the "quest" part ofc. And the graphics are charming. It's teh game that was shown on E3 after Keeanu Reeves was revealed to be in Cyberpunk 2077

Played Desperados III demo and boy the game feels like the first two. I thought they don't make games like this no more. The difference is that it's full 3D now, but otherwise plays and feels like its predecessors. Plus some nice additions like achievements or a minut-by-minute post mission overview of all the actions you took (even auto-saves). The music and sound also feel very Wild West.
The only downside I can see are the voice-overs. I mean, nothing bad about them in general, but they don't feel as fleshed out like in the past (and you're gonna listen to a lot of the characters inserts). For instance, because the game is a prologue, Cooper is younger (game is a prologue) and he does not have this badass worn-down voice of his older self.
I will need to consider buying the full game. That price though. When did PC games become so expensive?
