Dead Space is on my list of candidates. However, I'm not a huge fan of horror shooters where crazy things jump out at you from the dark. Just not my style.  It seems like this is that kind of game, but maybe I'm wrong?
Yeah I've also read good things about Mass Effect 2. Fallout 3 and even to some extent Dragon Age really turned me off of RPGs for a while though. Haven't played an RPG I've enjoyed in quite some time. Maybe my tastes are changing - I'm more and more liking fast paced action games. Probably comes from the fact that these days, with a 3 year old, my video game time comes in chunks of 30 minutes rather than 30 hours.

Mass Effect 1 contains more RPG elements than the sequel, but either way I think you MUST play the first one since the Mass Effect games are connected.
The choices you make in Mass Effect 1 has a great impact on what happens in Mass Effect 2 and 3.
That is what makes those games so amazing imo, and it adds A LOT of replayability.

aren't those googles a little annoying in the long run, Adrius? I mean, sure it looks nice, but I wouldn't be too happy with 30% of my screen constantly covered...

No actually not, it adds a lot to the feeling of wearing Power Armor. I thought they were gonna be annoying but I got used to it real quick.

I played dead space like 5 min, and it doesn't seem to have much in common with killzone (only played the 1st one) maniability seemed quite annoying (well, like in most survival horror I guess, where they make you play a handicapped guy to give you the impression that you fight strong enemies, when in fact they are as handicapped as you lol)
seeing how I still mainly play on PS2, I can't help you much, but I'm waiting for deus ex 3, hope it will be good.

@Seraphim: Nope... they come alone, mostly.
What's worse is Stalkers... pitch black ghouls that crawl along the ground... very hard to see coming without nightvision or thermal.
Me love monster mod.

Playing Dawn of War II: Retribution.
Damn Chaos was hard to play in the Campaign... yeah you can win by spamming free Honor Guards but that ain't fun... there was this IG mission that I couldn't get past... Auto/Lascannons just raped everything in sight.
Eldar on the other hand... MWAHAHAHA, so gloriously powerful! Rohnan with zero-cooldown Kinetic Pulse can rape everything that isn't vehicles haha... 10 Energy cost and he's got about 200 with upgrades... BLAM BLAM BLAM, Tyranids reduced to sauce.
Autarch air-plasma-nades are awesome as well. Kinda dislike the Autarch being female though, would've preferred a male. The voice actor is pretty cool though, love how she puts the Warlock in his place for daring to discuss strategy with her... ^^
Still haven't gathered the courage to go online... strategy games are so unforgiving

Well, when we played we mostly played with each other, but when we did play against each other, we were more or less on par, depending on what champs we played. Of course, we owned each other a bit as well.
