Could be worse, they could have saved it for the last unit where anticipation would have built up to the max.

Not really. If they reserved Maniac as the last unit then all the good stuff have passed anyway like the 4th and 5th faction.

my guess according to what I read on facebook :
praetorian : large shield, shields others
crossbowman : shooter, no range penalty
griffin : flyer...
sun knight : Jousting, possibly a special kind of flying ability
celestial : flyer, aura of bravery, they have both the blade of judgement and mercy, maybe they can cast both resurection and divine vengeance 
bone guard : undead, shooter, no melee penalty
ghoul : undead, scavenger, weakening strike
ghost : undead, flyer
vampire : life drain, NOT flyer
lich : undead, shooter, caster
lamasu : undead, flyer, poisonous attack
cerberus : 2 headed attack, no retaliation
tormentor : shooter, short range, no melee penalty, wound, harpoon strike
maniac : fear attack, fright aura
juggernaught : crushing blow, berserker rage
succubus : seducing
pit lord : ? caster?

Info/Details about necro creatures are already available in the Igromir thread. Of course they may be subjected to change but it is more accurate than speculating based on crude unit description.

Now that sucks! Not only does the new unit look stupid, but it also has the most stupid name in the history of the entire Heroes series!!! MANIAC?!?! Are you kidding me? What was wrong with the classical Imps? Inferno has the worst lineup so far, with the worst creature names. Besides, the lvl.4 and lvl.5 units look very identical to me! That's unispiring and uninteresting. This is adding new units just to have something new in the game... I pray the 6th level is Nightmare or Efreet so it can save this faction and add some classical feeling to it!

New unit looks kind of dumb, and a bit too similar to the Necropolis ghoul, in my opinion. Not really impressed, but then I've never liked Inferno that much anyways. Hopefully Dungeon's in and cool, or I may be at a loss at what town to play in this one; OG Fortress is still gone, Dwarf Fortress isn't in, and no Dungeon means that none of the towns I have always mained would be playable. Could be bad.

Nightmare can't be because the maniac/demented is the demon of fear and panic, which is exactly what nightmare was, a demon of fear. And about efreet, hmmm, in heroes 3 efreeti were more powerful than the pit fiends, which would make a weird imbalance through time. H6 is 500 years before the history of H5 but idk where was H3 placed in time when efreeti outclassed pit fiends. As they said about demons of heroes, they have 1000 faces and break through their prison in different times, each time being other demons which escaped and thus were units in heroes games.

IMO succubi are the flyer unit for the inferno. Two flyers for a meelee heavy faction seem unlikely. If something is missing from the line-up, I would say it's a fast elite charger in the likes of nightmares. There are already too many bipedal creatures here.
