Quote: Oh God No!
You guys don't see anything wrong with this!? These "Japanese Naga" look Awful! AWFUL!! Besides China and Japan were never really that big into Naga. South East Asia is where Naga were really worshiped. Plus if they were South east Asian inspired you could have really cool south east Asian inspired cities.
Check these out.

As for the Naga being Aztec inspired, well honestly I just don't see that at all.
I agree with what you say, but it don't matter much as they can make their own stuff anyway. Nagas might not have been a Japanese creature but it can still have Japanese style, it's all in the hand of the developers
The same thing about a Aztec style, Nagas in Ashan can have Aztec-style even if that was not the case in our world
And the reason why I want Aztec-style is because if the Nagas is going to be a jungle/swamp faction in a similar fashion as the H3 fortress was, Then I know it can fit awesomely with Aztec-style
Edit: Hmm however Cambodian/Indonesian-style can be equally cool as a Aztec-style, even more so maybe. OMG you have a point This should be their Theme/style!
(if there even is a naga faction.....)

Of course the Naga should be Naga style, but we are discussing what that Naga style is or should be. But I Hope you already understand that. I guess your point is that they shouldn't just rip the style for the Nagas from an already existing style/culture. Plz them me if I'm wrong

My point is that the Naga are much more hinduistic than anything else. Additionally, they can be found in various forms, including very similar to the western perception of what is commonly called dragon (usually a wingless one though) and even the Lernaean hydra.
India:
Cambodia:
Like many mythological creatures, the Naga aren't described in just one or two ways, so the artists can use many sources for inspiration. The geisha and the daimyo above however are bloody generic and better not be used for anything.

because in greek mythology centaurs lived among mongolian-influenced orcs in the taiga and titans were gigantic constructs animated with magic
just because they originate from indian mythology, it does not mean that they need to stay true to that

But it sure as heck makes sence that they do, because that South East Asian mythology rocks and so don't those old South East Asian buildings.

Well yeah, the Orcs from HoMM V are a perfect example for well-made faction which everybody likes. And Titan is the name of the construct, just like you can name, for example, a level 7 Forge creature Juggernaut and few people will protest.
Yes, normally it makes sense one creature to stay true to its native mythology. Some innovation is possible of course, but there is also one quite visible border of absurdity which should not be crossed.

ok 4th faction confirmed? - Stronghold
who then can be the 5th one???
doesn't make much sence to me in terms of balance...
Haven - Good
Necropolis - Evil
Inferno - Evil
Stronghold - Orcs - Evil (they don't look neutral enough)
5th faction - ????
Logically should be Good faction...hmmmm...?
Naga-like faction - Neutral
Faceless dungeon - Evil
Dark elves - more Evil, then Neutral
???????? - Good

If Stronghold is on the jungle tileset, it seems only logical the new town will be Faceless underground, as they're the last real option.
This leaves us with a rather bizarre spread of 1 good town and 4 that are either evil or opposed to it, though. Haven's gonna be pretty lonely...

That's actually good imo, minimizing the chance of the plot being reduced to "good guys ganging on bad guy" like in H5.

Haven = Light Magic
Necropolis = Dark Magic
Inferno = Fire Magic
Stronghold = Earth Magic
???? = Water or Wind Magic
Necropolis is evil
Inferno is evil
Stronghold is neutral
Haven is good
???? should be good for balance
So maybe the 5th faction is a Water or Wind based faction which tends to be good. I think it will be a kind of Akademy.
