I remember that oblivion had worthless magic, what with the enemy levelling with you and all. Morrowind was sort of worthless in magic, because magicka only recharged after resting (unless you were born under the atronach, then you had to drink potions to recharge magicka.)

So I'm glad to hear skyrim actually does give magic a feeling of power.

When I eventually play this game I'm probably going to end up looking up the cheat to get rid of my vampirism (yea, I'm lame). In Oblivion it was almost impossible to not become a vampire. I know they want to appeal to all the kids that have a vampire fetish, but fuuuuuu, I'm not on that boat. Just give me a medieval shotgun so I can blow their pasty fanged heads off without risking becoming a vampire.

Motherland - This is a cool background song. I love the part just past 3:00.

What do you think of the Elder Scrolls' our-vampires-are-different approach?

Many find it weird how TES vampires become stronger by NOT feeding... kinda contradicts the vampire lore as a whole.

I'm ok with it myself since it's actually quite logical in one way, especially considering that it's not a disease born by evolution but rather ehh... daedric rape... magic.

As you go without blood, the vampirism curse bestows more power upon you so that you can find something to feed on easier. Makes sense; the curse becomes more desperate.

It's way less apparent in Skyrim though, where you just gain a few powers as you go without feeding, whereas in Oblivion you gained massive stat boosts.

And you also spontaneously combusted in broad daylight if your vampirism went to 100%.

And the knights of the nine gave an easy way to get rid of vampirism (though, that was one of the most terrible expansion packs ever, saved only by the fact that shivering isles was wonderful).

EDIT: I think there's plenty of examples of vampire lore where vampires become a lot more savage the longer they go without blood.

The Vile Lair DLC also gave you an easy way to get rid of Vampirism.

Not to mention that Chapels gave free disease cleansings so whenever you had Porphyric Hemophilia you could just go there. Interesting btw... they changed the name of the disease to Sanguinis Vampiris in Skyrim.

True about more savage, but more powerful by not drinking blood?

That's what I meant.
Knights of the nine expansion included a lot pointless stuff, like the evil lair (even though, I liked the lair and the pirate cove it wasn't nearly enough to ask full price for it)

Well, I dunno about more powerful, but I haven't really heard a lot from weakening vampires either (Anne Rice's vampires weaken, though). I never questioned it, since in oblivion, the end state of vampirism is pretty monstrous. Vicente Valtieri even alludes that after a few hundred years you can't look normal again.

I didn't say that, I said that in comparison to Oblivion the benefits from not feeding aren't as severe.

EDIT:

Goddamn ****ed up horse controls. This is the only feature so far that I can definitely say feels consolified.

The interface is fine imo, I have nothing against it. Feels a bit slow at times but no biggie.

Oh man the Dark Brotherhood has so many awesome references to the old games... I'm loving this so much.

The only guild I joined, are the companions and they kept me quite busy, I roam from tavern to tavern out in the wilderness. That's it, barely any progression in the main quest.

If I get waifu... can I use her as a blood dispenser? Oh god I must be able to... would make things so damn practical.

I now have a reason to seek romance.

EDIT:

Btw, without being too spoilerish... somewhere during the Dark Brotherhood questline you gain the ability to summon a certain friend... most probably just regard this as just another conjuration spell, but he has WAY more personality than you might think; especially if you summon him during your Dark Brotherhood missions. Believe me it's badass, Bethesda cares about the details in this game.

Wasn't too heavy I hope? I did not say who or what it was, nor when or where you gain the ability.

I take not spoiling things very seriously... just don't want people to dismiss this ability when they get it cuz it really improves the immersion in the quests. Not trying to ruin your playthrough, just enhance it.

I can remove it if you think it'll harm others as well.
