Funny. I tend to associate the archetypical Dragonborn as a hardcore mage. It's probably from being a Forgotten Realms/Dragonlance fanboy. I associate dragons heavily with wisdom and arcane knowledge and all that stuff.
But yeah, the main plot in Skyrim is definitely more omnipresent than the one in Oblivion, as long as you avoid the main quest in Oblivion until you're ready for it. Otherwise the entire province turns into Oblivion gates. There's reminders all over the place that you're Dragonborn.
Having very distinct questlines is important for me because I don't complete the major questlines of the game with a single character. I feel like it would be awkward to do the Companions, the Thieves Guild, and the College quests all with one freakish mutant character. I did the College/Bard/Imperial questlines with my first character, and now I'm running through a 2nd time as an Argonian warrior to do the Companions/Brotherhood/Stormcloak questlines. I'm finishing up the main plot with my Argonian now. Then I'll make a 3rd character just to do the Thieves Guild quests in Riften and do some other exploring. I tend to focus on a particular part of Skyrim with each character. With my Imperial wizard I focused on the north, and with my Argonian I've combed a lot of The Reach and Falkreath. I haven't done much exploring in The Rift and I'll end up doing that with my 3rd character.
As far as the nature mods, adding more features like rainbows, centipedes, etc., to increase the detail is always a good thing, but I feel like they did an adequate enough job with nature that the game isn't desperately screaming for more of it. But with the towns & NPCs, I feel like Skyrim and every similar game that I can think of has these towns that feel as though somebody recently unleashed artificially weaponized small pox on them. I feel like it should be a no-brainer to include filler NPCs just to make the town/city feel like a town/city. I guess a counterpoint to that is that since only a minority of the NPCs will be interactive, it will decrease the immersion, but I dunno, I feel like having a realistic-looking atmosphere is a lot more important than that. I don't like how RPGs consistently neglect this.

...hold on. You're doing the Dark Brotherhood and the Companions together? Isn't it kind of, well, awkward to be an honorable warrior-type on one hand and a sneaking poison-using assassin on the other?

Would've been so easy for Beth to like, create "infiltration" side-missions for all the guilds.
Like, if you're a member of the Dark Brotherhood and get invited to join the Companions, you get approached by a brotherhood member who asks you to use that position to carry out some huge assassination, like Kodlak White-Mane or something.
Then you do all the quests up to one point, to gain the trust of the guild, and then you assassinate their leader.
Same thing with the Thieves Guild but with stealing stuff instead.
This way you would've been able to have a motivation for doing LOTS of missions for 1 character, without losing any roleplaying value.

That suggestion reminds me of new vegas, when you 'infiltrate' the NCRCF. (that is if you were an NCR hoe)
Omygawd, I don't know how I could bear skyrim without this.

Mhm, his shooting stars mod is amazing as well.
Had all of that stuff in Oblivion and Skyrim is slowly catching up to the experience ^^

I think it suits well enough being the Harbinger, a stormcloak war hero, as well as the brotherhood Keeper, because my life in the Brotherhood is obviously removed from my legitimate life (although my Argonian predator usually wasn't very sneaky when I did the Brotherhood quests. I literally ran into town and power attacked the person's head off, ate their corpse with the Ring of Namira, killed the guards, and left. I was pretty high level before I got started with the Brotherhood)
Plus I actually had a pattern as I played the game. I did all of the Brotherhood quests and later on ended up marrying Shahvee (that really nice Argonian lady at the docks in Windhelm). Then I completed the Temple of Mara quests, and now I'm doing the main questline to save the world

The caves with light filtering through the top that have temperate forests in them are pretty gorgeous looking imo. Like that quest in Whiterun with the Tree that leads you to that one cave at the end? I spent a few minutes gawking at the artwork.
Pretty much the only forests in the game are around Riften and Falkreath. The rest is plateau or mountains. They didn't need to do a repeat of Cyrodiil's forests, but I guess now that you mention it, the forests are pretty ghey. They could have made them feel more like an actual evergreen-rich forest. Like with really tall and slender trees with high branches on them, and brown pine needles almost completely covering the ground. I think the designers were placing so much marketing emphasis on the "snow and mountains" gig that when they did the two southern holds they were like "aaaaaaaand we can throw some trees n' **** down here" *2 hours later* "All done. High five."

Been looking for tirelessly over the nexus for a winged helmet.
Something like this:
With all my characters (in almost all games) I find it unbearable to wear helmets, only this model is the one that I actually greatly enjoyed (DA), and I was devastated to not find it in Skyrim. (or in mods)
I tried searching valkyrie helms to no avail.
Edit: Wow, just realized that Talos has the perfect helmet.

Helmets piss me off to no end. Bethesda needs to suck a dick and add a 'hide helmet' option.
btw, there are winged steel helmets in the game you nub, and I play vanilla Skyrim on the PS3 like a caveman. I don't think they're very common though.

You do realize what all my pictures have in common right? YOU CAN SEE THE DAMN FACE.
The only reason anyone would want to cover their face is:
a) A filthy milk-drinker
b) Damn ugly.
Though I've seen a few mods that uncover the steel helmet's mask, they're not that well done.

Oh, maybe the winged helmet are covered from the front. Idunnolol.
It's so freaking annoying how you go through all the trouble to customize your appearance exactly how you want it, and then 2 minutes in the game you're wearing one of those RETARDED looking Imperial helmets, and the rest of the game you're wearing one kind of helmet or another. You can't even wear a circlet otherwise you won't get your special armor bonus perk, unless you're a mage, but whatever. So they can cast a few spells. Am I suppose to be impressed?
I mean... you can always just not wear a helmet like a boss, but that's annoying also.

I have no idea what right they have to boycott the project when it was for non-profit. Then again, I have yet to delve into that part of law.
