You see that's what pen & paper & figurine Dungeons and Dragons is for. The immersion of it is what makes it incomparably superior to any video game that has ever existed... if you can gather the right group of people for it. Very few people will ever know what I mean until they've done it, which they probably never will.
I think what makes survival mode a niche for a small crowd of people is because the Elderscroll games spam you with a huge amount of different quests and dungeons. The game overwhelms people with mass quantity. You get like 30 different quests just from running around talking to people in the game for half an hour, and most of those quests aren't going to be winning any major awards for having a compelling story. The thought of grinding through all of them while worrying about & managing everything that you have to worry about in real life will make most people tired just from the thought of it. I think in a more narrow game, with a more driven plot, you'd get more people that are receptive to all of the survival stuff. Like, if you were to play Skyrim and strictly do the main questline. Most people end up being partially tangled up in the other stuff too though, which means you'll be putting in a lot of hours into the game just with a single character.

I disagree, my guy is a badass ranger who finds life and survival in the most brutal of climates and most hostile regions, not some nursemaid who has to fetch some random item because the NPC is lazy or they've bitten more than they can chew. If this was Fallout style (ima find this mod) then my honour might be so hurt that I'd have to place a slave collar on the NPC.
Quote: Eh you severely underestimate these survival mods.
You don't just randomly fall over dead, there are several visual and audio indicators that tell you what's wrong. You hear your stomach grumbling, your character coughs due to lacking water, he yawns when tired, your fatigue takes a hit from it all, your vision grows more and more blurred.
Combined with realistic wounds mods where if I took to much slashing I had to bandage my wounds to prevent slowly bleding to death (and bandaging couldn't be done in battle) and an enhanced diseases mod, Oblivion became a true game of survival where every move needed to be planned 'lest you end up dead due to a simple arrow in the knee.
Going out adventuring? How long will I be gone? Pack food and water for the trip, pack a bedroll and campfire gear for sleeping, pack bandages and healing potions, go to the Alchemist and get a cure disease potion just in case.
I understand it's not for everyone, but remember it's ALL about immersion, randomly falling over dead just doesn't happen in real life. They're designed to make you crawl in your own blood and misery before you eventually perish.
Is there a mod, or a collection of mods that actually does all these things (you imply it heavily, but I have to 'double-check')?

No I don't think they've managed to get that far yet. I was talking about my Oblivion experience.
There are some survival mods but I am yet to check them out, I bet in time they'll grow really awesome now that we have an already established cooking system and stuff though.

Also this guy's weapons seem pretty solid:

Yeah you posted pics of that weapon set earlier. I've used it myself though I used the creation kit to make it more lorefriendly... like renaming the Aragorn swords to "Ranger Sword" and so on. I really like the twohanders cuz they have sweet scabbards... many mod creators simply skip scabbards for some reason.
Oh and do yourself a favor and use the Nexus Mod Manager and download from the Nexus instead of using Steam Workshop once you start modding.

The way enchanting is set up kind of pisses me off. It's like a semi-decent skill until you hit 100, and then with the Extra Effect perk it's usefulness is instantaneously doubled. But with the way things are now, even with the Extra Effect perk I don't think I'll be able to enchant clothes that are as good as the mage robes you can buy or acquire. For some reason the enchantment you can put on clothes just sucks.
I went to Blackreach for the first time. That place is eye candy; I just love the scenery of everything. I also love a lot of the "underground forests" they stick in the game, where some light comes down from a hole and there's a cave filled with moss and trees, and there's rabbits running around & ****. I'd totally build a house there. I'm overall very pleased with the scenery in this game.

You probably have but I'm going to ask anyway: have you tried using Enchantment-boosting potions before the actual enchanting? And also use Grand soul gems when you're enchanting stuff you want to actually use. There may also be an Enchanting-boosting enchantment, but if there is I haven't found it yet. Or did you mean the variety of enchantments rather than the power? (I suppose I should have asked that first. )

Whenever I select to do the enchantment for Fortifying Destruction (or Restoration) + Magicka Regeneration, the bonuses are heavily inferior compared to the Master Destruction Robes I can buy (or the Winterhold Archmage robes that I'm currently wearing). The skill is (or will be) powerful for every other item (my ring, necklace, boots, gloves, circlet, and shield) but for robes/clothes, it sucks. I'm at 80 enchantment right now, and even with the extra passive bonuses I'll acquire at 100 and the Extra Effect perk, I still don't think the robes will be as good as what I can buy.
These archmage robes are pretty snazzy looking and I might end up completing the game with them, but I think it's a little lame that the Enchantment skill favors a warrior character over an actual wizard. Not like it really matters, but the idea of it is bothersome.

I didn't even realize that bonus would stack.
Anyway, I accidentally completed the main questline tonight. I had no idea I was even that far along. I guess now's the time to wrap up Skyrim by blowing my gold on a bunch of expensive soul gems, getting to 100 enchanting, crafting an ultimate set, and then becoming a mass murderer and killing everybody in every hold.
I'll probably want to save before I do that though since I'll want to continue playing with my benevolent wizard as a Dawnguard once the time comes. Gotta fry me some vampires. Bow chicka bow wow.
Having looked back, I'll give the game an 8 out of 10.

'till Adrius makes an appearance, ima just install the stuff that I've so far gather on my own initiative, as-well as the stuff you suggest on may 16th.
Wow, took like 10 minutes for it to download, beats the 6 hours it took for Shogun win 2mb per sec.
Edit: now downloading, June the 9th stuff (I really should check that they work before I download 'em all )
Edit2: found some more mods on page 55 downloading now (aswell as the gutts one on 56) Looking at JaySuS' swords, and they look so ****ing well done, hopefully they look the same ingame.
Edit3: Before I can begin, can anyone provide me with new hair styles, face mods in general?

The Gungnir sword that my Redguard lass uses is from Jaysus ^^
They do indeed look as awesome in-game as on the pics. The mod's only fault is some balance issues with how easy some of the high-end swords are to make, but it's what ya make of it I suppose.
Have fun.
Edit: apaachii sky hair for more hairstyles. If you use a female character you got TONS of support, check out RAN's headmesh, no more blocky faces, and better females by bella.

Also my dovahkin relaxes too, it says that it activated successfully, but it refuses to tick (i'll see in-game anyhow)
Re-downloading JaySuS' swords, got stuck at 92%
Armed to the teeth seems like a mod that will annoy the crap out of me, so removing it till I've got the hand of what I've already got
Also Ad that demon guy you posted a while back, with the badass axe, it says that this mod is no longer on the nexus
Edit: Does the hairpack replace existing NPC hair-styles? (it implies that it does so)

No it doesn't replace them, though you can download an optional mod that does that.
Armed to the teeth requires you to use the creation kit and modify the weapons yourself if ya want it to work well stability-wise.
I hope you're not downloading everything at once and then starting the game with it all enabled. Take it slow, check that the game is working well in-between installations. Also use BOSS to get a load order recommendation, and then adjust your load order accordingly with NMM.
Edit: deathdealer armor has gone into V2 and has a new file now, search for it and you'll find it.

I see the wisdom in that, and I agree completely, though for some strange reason I feel that I can't play 'till the game is 'complete'.
Never mind going to get "Jaysus' swords" to download properly and then I'm done, for now. The deathdealer too, thanks ad, took me 3 hours with the all the links or names provided (by you), god knows how long it would've taken for me. (and I don't even know what I want )

Oh it will never be complete... never... from now on you'll spend more time customizing the game than actually playing it.
NMM can be a bit iffy with direct downloads sometimes, you can download the mods manually instead and then use the "add mod from file" option in NMM and select the rar, works the same way.
I'd be able to help ya better but I'm miles from my computer, writing on the phone.
Edit: oh and for awesome eyes for your char: the eyes of beauty.
