I am glad I started over.
What is everyone's favorite race? It seems like Argonian would be most rational as far as the perk 10x health regeneration, but for a mage oriented player not planning to have extreme gear I would think some other races could be more suitable.
I am new, still learning.
Question: Is it a bad idea to skip pretty much all books? (Other than skill) I pass all but 20gp+ valued books. Although the series of the Lusty Argonian inspired a look lol

In vanilla Breton is the best as always for his screw-magic-in-general approach. I mean you can have 100% spell absorption right out of the box by just rushing to get the Atronach power and combine it with your racial, and you can reach 85% magic resistance fast as well making you the absolute bane of mages.
Orc is also pretty awesome with his double damage output, especially if you sneak with him heh.
The racial bonuses in vanilla don't mean **** in the long run so you can just pick whatever suits your roleplay or something.
Most of the time I play Nord for immersion, fits better with the story I think, like playing a Dark Elf in Morrowind.
As far as the books go... I think there's one or two small quests here and there that are started by reading certain books. I also find the books in general to be pretty immersive and have enjoyable stories, I aso enjoy collecting them like a mini game for myself.

It's not like this is Morrowind where your breton doesn't have mana regen at all so just pick what you like.
The beauty of ES is that you don''t have to read books if you don't want to, just like any other thing you can choose to do it or not, it's' all up to you.
I for one prefer to snow the main quest and just wander around doing random evil with my dunmer spellsword.

Races don't really exist for me with the new character creation mod. You can combine all the race features if you want, and can make some pretty sexy lookin' peeps.
I always hated Bretons for their bloated cheeks (in vanilla, since it's irrelevant now) I mostly switch between High-elf and Imperial, I throw a nord character in here n' there.

I've only played a Dunmer and a Khajiit so far. Claws were nice, the filter on Nighteye was distracting if there was more than zero light. I hardly ever remember to use the activatable abilities anyway so that wasn't too bad.
I've been avoiding Argonians because the waterbreathing doesn't seem terribly useful in any of the ES games I've played. (Seriously Bethesda there's nothing IN the water...and look at those maps. Look at that land to water ratio! Even if there was more in it than Slaughterfish and the occasional clam, how much adventuring do you expect me to do in the water?)
But for the most part I'm inclined to agree that it really doesn't matter. I kind of wish it mattered more: when my Khajiit walks up to Ysolda and asks her what she knows about the Khajiit, I'd expect some remark along the lines of, 'I'm talking to one!', not the same canned dialog every other race gets. :\ And if there are quests that are race- and/or gender-specific I haven't found them yet.

All part of Beth making sure that your choices never have any impact. They argue that it gives you more freedom, since you aren't restricted in any way.
Things like removing all Attributes, making Birthsigns available to change at any time, removing major and minor skills... all is affected by that philosophy of freedom of theirs.

The problem with that philosophy is that it gives me no reason to replay the game. I can do almost everything on my first playthrough. :\

Agreed, I think there's like 2 big choices to make in Skyrim and that's between Blades/Greybeards and Imperial/Stormcloak, and even that doesn't really have any impact on the world itself.
Hell 90% of my characters don't give a **** about neither dwagons or civil bull****
Fortunately Beth are smart enough to make it relatively easy for fans to fix their stupid game and make it awesome.

It's called casual gaming Ad.
Go play morrowind and BOOM. You're snowed with half of the choices you make. Seriously, go play breton mage there.

I'm going to add to that list, Destroy/Join the Dark Brotherhood. Still doesn't make much difference to the world at large.
Speaking of mods, is there a way to unwrap the Skyrim meshes in Nifscope? I'm trying my hand at retexturing, but I'm having trouble getting the new skins to line up.

Oh Brets get 50% M.Resist... Wish I could switch now lol.
I went in dwemer excavation and threw almost 'everything' from scraps and plates into the main areas water level chest. This felt fast and I returned to chest 3 times with a follower. 330 dwarven ingots resulted. The scraps were partly so I could just mindlessly grab everything.
330 + 110 iron ingots is 110 flawless/legendary dwarven bows and several black smithing levels. $$$

Something good and positive from 4chan's VG corner of the interwebs.
They list pretty much only the best stuff for your Skyrim modding pleasure. I found the ENB section really helpful.
They apparently ****ing hate Skyre though which kinda surprised me, but after reading their comments about it I get it. Probably won't use it for my next playthrough, the incompatibilities are indeed endless.

Next playthrough imma use Seasons of Skyrim to turn the entire map into a frozen nightmare and add Frostfall and Realistic Needs for ultimate Bear Grylls experience.
That feeling when you're almost freezing to death in some forest, and manage to use the last bit of your strength to gather up some firewood before collapsing from hypothermia, sit down and whisper "Yol", words causing the wood to ignite.
Pan the camera around and see the frost in my character's beard slowly melt away as heat spreads.
That **** is the absolute best.

I used Windhelm to test the extremes of frostfall, jumping off the bridge into the icy river, screen instantly going icy and controller shaking like crazeh, and the shivering sound. <3

That's my current skyrim with Climates of Tamriel instead of seasons. There's just something about being in the middle of a dwemer ruin with your spellsword and you find this huge treasure but realise you will run out of water if you are going to take it all at once. Such contradictory feelings between getting rich staying alive.
Locational damage because getting headshotted by a lucky bandit makes anyone's day.
I feel that my next skyrim will be total lorebreaking fantasy-fest with tera armour, ridiculous magic go kill everything like you're bayonetta with a sword kind of awesome.
