Greatest event of the entire Elven history, dark and light, is only two years away from the beginning of H6's campaign. I'm certain this will be our expansion, or there is not any.

They wouldn't miss on it, would they? Weren't you ever certain you win and then, well, you won?

Unfortunately, I'm forced to agree; Aca, Sylvan and Dungeon are the likeliest candidates.

I'm with Kodial on this one, actually. (Not that I usually disagree with him, but it just happens that in this case I agree quite strongly.) If there is only one expansion, and Ubisoft seems to like having more than one, but if there's only one, then it has to somehow tie in with the elven split. There's too much temporal congruence there for them to ignore it, and they're going to want to redeem themselves after everyone criticized the Dungeon and Sylvan factions for being too similar; so they're probably already trying to figure out ways to make the factions a bit more dissimilar, to appeal to everyone who might be interested.
But there's no way they'll leave elves out of this game. They're too iconic as fantasy creatures to be left out of a series that prides itself on fantasy archetypes.
If there is more than one expansion, then we'll likely see Academy, and something like Fortress (but less dumb ), and probably in that order; but unless they announce all the expansions at once and decide to hold off on the elves until last to "build up hype", I wouldn't hope for anything but elves in the first expansion.
I'd bet my car on it.

Dungeon and Sylvan for sure, they'll show the war between the two elven factions. But honestly, i believe all four factions will make an appearance. Maybe with an additional one thrown in. Who knows?

if memory serves me ryt, wasn't there a mention of dark elves somewhere in the official revelations during the last week? in any case regular sylvan faction would do as well....just hope they keep a twin bladed creature like bladedancers, maybe improved in h6 as a twin bladed pegasus rider!!

I agree, I think expansions (if two) will have to give 2 factions each as H6 has only 5 factions and there are 9 factions in Ashan.
I reckon:
1st Expansion : Elves and Dark Elves (540 YSD - War of the bitter ashes)
2nd Expansion : Wizards and Dwarves (771 YSD - Foundation of the Silver League)
The 2nd expansion is alot further in timeline so probably too far ahead that 564 YSD....so I will stick with Wizards and Dwarves, but timeline could be different. I mean Dwarves are always around hiding in their Grimheim mountains, and Wizards, well, depends on when Gargoyles, Golems and Titans were created.....hmmmmm

We do not know, they may be planning something entirely different. Perhaps the campaign will lead to a great involvement of the Dwarves and the mysterious 10th faction.
Quote: Weren't you ever certain you win and then, well, you won?
Yes. But there also were plenty times when I was certain that I would win something with the odds stacked heavily in my favor, and still lost.
Things are only certain when they are officially confirmed.

@Nightterror - Nice faction, reminds me of NightElves in WC, and Adrius's Coven a bit, great.
Though I still hope for a return of H3 Fortress
Quote: Since Naga didn't deliver a spiritual successor to Fortress like I had hoped, I want a swamp town, dammit! An actual swamp town, on swamp, with big nasty beasties and lizardmen. I could care less about Sylvan, Aca and (poser) Fortress; Dungeon could be nice but I don't really care if they're missing either, so long as there's still no swamp town.
I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take this anymore!
I second this wholeheartedly! My suggestion:
CORE
Gnoll (I liked them and want them back )
Serpent Fly
Lizardman
ELITE
Basilisk
Gorgon
Wyvern (since they were kicked out of Stronghold for some stupid Orc Shaman)
CHAMPION
Waspwort! (a monstrous intelligent carnivorous plant, ranged, since it fits in so nicely with the swamp, boosts the ranged attack of Fortress, and since Hydra is probably gonna stay in Dungeon)

That's pretty much my ideal lineup, too; if the Hydra has to go back to Dungeon I'd like something else big, reptilian and nasty in its place.
If they screw Fortress fans over for another game, I'm coming for them.

What about a swamp-based faction (a la H3 Fortress) that is populated, run, and controlled by Dark Elves (a la H5 Dungeon)?
There's nothing that says Dark Elves have to live in a dungeon; there's 400 years of history available for them to move underground, and they may have started out living in a kind of corrupted forest. That would allow opportunities for units like the basilisk, gorgon, and serpent flies, without forcing them to introduce a whole new race of lizardmen and gnolls into the world.
Of course, that leaves Dungeon sort of SOL...

How about the Waspwort then? Or maybe even a Behemoth/Gargantuan...

We shall form an army of H3 Fortress enthusiasts! No seriously, one of the most climatic and original factions, and they simply bashed it...not happy...
@Aosaw - not a bad idea, however it would mean many great units would be lost from the game...there are 7 creatures in a faction, and if those 2 were merged together (their creatures: Gnoll, Lizardman, Serpent Fly, Basilisk, Gorgon, Wyvern, Hydra, some Blood Elf units, Black Dragon, Minotaur, Beholder, Medusa, Manticore, Troglodyte) about 7 great creatures wouldn't make it to the game automatically, so I'd rather have Dungeon and Fortress separate, just so we can enjoy each of them fully
What if it turned into another Infernopolis ? Not like I didn't like it that much, just thought it's a funny comparison since so many people apparently hated it.

I think the behemoth would make a nice addition to the fortress' lineup as the champion unit. I was not a fan of the lava dragon. a smaller salamander or lavamander, a creature that looks like a cross between the lava dragon and a raptor, would be cool as a elite shooter unit though.

The thing is the Dark Elves worship Malassa, the Dragon God of Darkness, so makes sense that they moved underground....

Eventually, yes. But when they first defected I doubt they said, "Hey, being around trees and forests is great, but I really think we should be underground. Like, you know, under the ground."
Starting off in a jungle would provide a lot of shade, as the forest does, and the mists and fog would also provide obscurity, which is in line with the figurative darkness associated with Malassa.
And of course they could then move underground, as we know they did. The very end of the Dark Elves' campaign could be them finding a tunnel leading underground, and deciding to leave the surface.

But Black Dragons come from underground and they need to have them in the Dark Elves as champion! Have to! Black Dragons and Titans (Wizards) need to come back in expansion!
