"Miasma?" Melony closed her eyes and sat back, "Well, my little shadow came to me one day while I was just wandering through the mall. By its own grudging admission, Miasma only meant to hop from me to the next person and get on with its life while keeping out of the public eye. Unfortunately for it, the person if planned to jump to left the store, so it was stuck with me and apparently got trapped, attaching itself and being unable to leave without causing both of us harm."
"Of course, it didn't talk to me until three weeks later, what with being anti-social and all. Miasma first talked to me when I was in a design meeting, its exact word were, 'Doesn't this long winded meat bag ever shut up?' while my boss was giving a performance review." Melony gave a faint smile, "At the time, I thought that I was just going crazy, or that Jim was whispering under his breath. I know better now... Miasma fully reviled itself when a scumbag tried to mug me and probably worse, I do pity that boy, wonder if he's out of the hospital yet, and we have been friends... More like soul mates, ever since."
Melony sat back up again, "So, running the risk of sounding like a bad psychiatrist, tell me about your childhood."

It was worse the first... He almost killed me... and then we have Miasma." Melony's voice had become hollow, but she shook off her depression again, "I had a parrot for five years, and then I bought a cat... Oh lord! My cat! the neighbors might still be taking care of her, but do you think that we could pick up my kitty after dinner?"

Ouroboros looked down at his scarred hands and then slowly said, "Well...I suppose it couldn't hurt could it? I was twelve at the time. My...step father...he was a little...loopy I guess? Well, it was around the time my half sister was born to my foster mother after she left my foster father. Well my step father was drunk that night. More than usual. So he went up to my little sister, who was laying in her crib, with a broken beer bottle. Now I knew something bad was going to happen... So I tried to stop him. He was a cop, so he was pretty strong. He easily beat me down, scarring my face with his beer bottle as he went. He then grabbed me and threw me outside. He turned on the grill and forced my hands into the flames and onto the red hot metal... Let's just say it hurt...a lot."

Thing is I want your help to take him out, I wanna be honest with you about that. The guy is... we can sit here." Kane seated himself without waiting for a waiter to show them to a table. "Where was I? Yeah. The guy is unstable, he has kidnapped and is manipulating a young woman. He will use any means to reach his goals. If he is not stopped he will in the end possibly conquer the world, it will be an easy job once he has the Catalyst."

"I doubt it is quite so simple, Kane." replied Inferno. "It usually isn't. With the Catalyst, he gains complete power over time. True, it could be used for world domination and other comic book villain goals, but I doubt it is so. Do you know the young woman he is holding hostage?"

Kane flushed red with anger. "Well of course I have a personal issue with him, the guy stole my girl and left me in the desert to die. I have no idea what he has lied about, but a girl like Melony could never stay with a man like that. She is the purest person I've ever met, there is not a bit evil in her whatsoever."
He shook his head. "Besides, I have no idea what will happen once he gets the Catalyst. He might take our powers away. Could you live without yours? Could you accept being powerless, having a thug with a gun being more powerful than you?"

A nearby waiter rushed past them with Melony's order...including the fries.
"Ah excuse me! Excuse me! We'd like to order!" said Inferno to the waiter.
The waiter turned and exhaustively said, "I'm sorry, sir. Be right with you!"

Kane glared at the waiter as he went on. "Well I for one will not look forward to the day my powers disappear. It is who I am, without it I am just another guy. I cannot be just another guy. And I honestly don't think you can either. How will you then fight crime, how will you then stay alive. You have powerful enemies, without your powers you would be killed. You will really just sit back and let Ouroboros take the powers of all other superheroes?"
