3x server speed + half-day server downtime = lots and lots of resources lost to silo capacity overflow! Fun.

For those who want to join, right now you'll need to wait as HOMMK server is down anyway.
... and I was just about to click 'Settle' for my third town. Last time I think they froze time to avoid that resources overflow the silos; hopefully they will do the same. Last time they also gave a free week of subscription for everyone who had an account, hopefully we'll get a week also this time.

I'd hate it if I was to be intalling a tear into a grail when this happens... it could set an alliance back big time.

Oh my god, it can load a picture now? Wow! I am (not) impressed.
Jez, how many time did they predict when the server would be back up and yet it wasn't back up at the time said?
Still down btw...
They could at least post something explaining what they screwed up and what repairs they are doing. Give us some food for our minds.

Actually I find it quite amusing that the have announcements on the news section about server maintenance downtimes -- but nothing happens -- but then there is an unexpected (unannounced) like this, and it dies for a day. Only thing I can think of is some major hack attack on their servers, otherwise it makes no sense, or they have no budget whatsoever for employees there.

This was announced two days ago. I did my best to give my heroes orders accounting for the next ~8 hours before the planned part of the downtime started at 1am Pacific.
Of course, now the downtime seems to have experienced an unplanned extension of 24 hours... at least it looks like the game state will be made to be frozen during that additional time.

Anyone with 3 or less cities would be interested by elven city heavenbless at map coordinates 136,19?
it has gold mine lvl 6 full improvements, or and saw mines lvl5 with 1 improvement
gem lvl 5 with 1 improvement, 3 research buildings lvl 1, a fort lvl one. bunch of npc troops to clear for xp
next to a dwarven treasury
mage guild lvl 2
sprites, war blades, hunter and drid troops buildings.
I am necro and have no use for the troops. I further need to open a slot so i may siege another city from the same neighboor and crush his resistance. You should expect some action if you take the city, so expect PvP and XP.
What do you say?

Hi daviburg,
Great Victory! I would like to take your city; but I am not part of your alliance yet. Could you share some experience on how to play PvP in general? I am only limited experience while you are crushing your neighbor.

See with Vesuvius for joining the in-game alliance. For PvP the best advice I could give is to go as much as possible big mono stack, meaning buying one unit type and stack it.
Also, if you are attacked, and you cannot win the battle OR would loose more troops than your ennemy (that's possible when wining), widthdraw to another city and wait for a better time.
Before putting a siege in place, weaken your ennemy through attacks and pillage (especially the gold mines). Do a siege with a hero who has high defense - a pure attack hero would be easily countered as he has no defense.
Careful that poor scouting information will lead the game to believe that your enemy is lvl 1 - fix that in jactari and raise the level to 25 currently, higher later in the game.
Those are generic advices, then for specific thing you'll need to ask.
Note that to get the city you will need to both be in the alliance AND have enough domination, wealth or honor for an extra city. (I.e. you cannot start with a city donation.)

Hi daviburg,
Thanks for your detailed reply. I think being a part of a big alliance is also important. I will work hard to earn a place in TOH test. It looks like TOH test dominates the test server.

Have you received this letter? Does it mean season 2 will start soon?
Prepare yourselves, heirs to the great warmongers! It is time for the sons of Lords to show their courage. Combat has started once again!
Neither master, nor slave: warriors. An arduous fight lies ahead, with many candidates. The Legacy of the Dragon will rise from the ashes. Once again, nature will give way to sculpted stone and forged iron. Men will trample the plains. Some may never return.
This is a call to arms! Prepare your troops and hone your weapons! Battle will be harsh, and the losses painful.
Join us for season 2 of Heroes Kingdoms!

Now that everyone who's interested has had a chance to try out Sylvan, I think it's time for us to coordinate starting town types.
Every serious player should plan to focus on *one* rare resource type, and build a single superstack. Yes, you won't be able to avoid picking up a few mines of your other rare, and those should be channeled to a secondary stack, but you don't need to care much about the size of that secondary stack.
As you've probably noticed, some troops are a lot more cost-effective than others. Here's a list of rares and the superstacks they can reasonably be channeled into:
Crystal: Archangels, Inquisitors, Wraiths
Gem: Paladins, Silver Unicorns
Mercury: Pit Lords, Ancient Treants
Sulfur: Nightmares, Rakshasa Rajas (not recommended)
So,
- Haven players should decide early on whether they're going to be crystal- or gem-focused, and choose their keeper city sites accordingly. They should also be willing to gift *many* cities to Academy players (the Academy player should pay most or all of the settle cost, of course).
- All Academy players who can find a Haven to cooperate with should go for mass Paladins. (They should also be prepared to do some city gifting, since anyone planning to steal a Tear wants an Academy Protector. Haven also benefits from early access to Gremlins and Gargoyles as Righteous Might targets.)
- Sylvan players should decide between gem and mercury early on. (I recommend mercury since they have Phoenix to counter archers, but occasionally the map doesn't cooperate.)
- Inferno players should go for Nightmares this season unless they have a high level Barrage Fire legacy bonus. Nobody else can use sulfur very effectively.
- Necro players are best off going for Pit Lords if they have an Inferno to cooperate with and the Mercury mines are present; otherwise Wraiths are best.
Vesuvius - So we must decide what town type we will be taking -- I'm considering Haven or Academy for example.
I'm planning on Haven, with the intention of settling my 6th city many, many times. (Settle 6th, gift it, settle 6th again, gift that, etc.)

Legacy information
(This is a repost from here.)
At the end of each Game, you earn Legacy Points to spend on skills.
There are 4 groups of skills - Hero, Troops, Kingdom, Equipment.
The first 3 groups affect only the FIRST hero you have. The equipment is transferable to other heroes.
***(Dec 04, 11:54pm) Unverified. You can only choose 1 skill from each Skill set, for a total of 4.
Each skill has 10 levels.
The costs are 10(lvl 1), 21, 43, 76, 120, 175, 241, 318, 406, 505(lvl 10)
In each group there are skills which are more effective for people with highest wealth rank, highest dom rank, and highest honor rank (so here's where your honor>wealth>dom is used). it's 10% boost for these skills (or a 10% malus)
***These #'s may be +/-10% off, since they had honor>dom>wealth adjustments***
Hero:
Mysticism : hero spell cooldown reduction (5%/skill lvl) - 10% more effective with dom>
Skill Revelation: hero gets (1/lvl) extra skill point when reaching lvls 15 and 30 - dom>
Talented hero - hero starts with 3+(1/lvl) skill points more - wealth
Tougher hero - hero starts with better characteristics (from 2/0/0 on lvl 1 to 5/0/0 on lvl 7, 5/5/0 on lvl 8, 5/5/5 on lvl 9, 16/0/0 on lvl 10) - wealth
Characteristics illumination - hero gets some bonus points to char at levels 15 and 30 (from 2/0/0 on lvl 1 to 13/0/0 on lvl 7, 7/7/0 on lvl 8, 7/7/7 on lvl 9, 20/0/0 on lvl 10) - honor
Spell mastery - hero is better with castings spells of 1 specific level (from 5.5 or 11% on levels 1-5) - honor
Troops
Magic resistance - 4%/lvl resistance against spells - dom
Raise the Dead - 2.5%/lvl of dead troops are raised from death after the fight - dom
Moral high - troops get 0.9%/lvl power bonus if they are the same faction as the hero is- wealth
Resurrection - 0.36%/lvl of total army power is brought back to life after fight - wealth
Barrage fire - enemies army receives damage equal to 3.3%/lvl of your total shooters power (if it kills the first stack then it goes to kill the 2nd, 3rd etc) - honor
Daily recruitment - 1.1%/lvl of army power is recruited every day - honor
Kingdom:
Population Contribution - hero's army generates 1%/lvl of army power in gold every day - dom
Personal wealth - hero gives 90/lvl gold *his level every day. - wealth
Battle spoils - hero collects a sum of gold equal to 2.2%/lvl of the defeated army power (only PvP) - honor
Equipment:
Powerful amulet of stone (giving at lvl 10 +3t4, +12% gold income and +12% defense) - dom
Generous ring of malice (giving +16.2% commons sale, +10.8% wood and ore income at lvl 10) - wealth
Radiant shield of the sun (giving combat XP +9.9%, +3.3t6(/day), +13.2%attack at lvl 10) - honor
Vesuvius -So guys, what legacies do you prefer from this list? Personally, if I take Haven, I may take magic resistance, and something like the radiant shield and tougher hero
Well, you can go for uber attacker or uber sieger/tear stealer.
Uber attacker (plan on Inferno/Necro/Academy 60/0/60):
Characteristics illumination
Barrage fire/resurrection/magic resistance
Personal wealth
Radiant shield of the sun
Uber sieger/tear stealer (plan on Academy Protector, Haven in a pinch but then you lose Earthquake and you'll have a lot more trouble getting an early 60/0/60):
Mysticism (greatest danger is when opponent runs you out of spells) or characteristics illumination
Magic resistance
Population contribution
Powerful amulet of stone/Radiant shield of the sun
The attacker plan definitely gives you a better start and is more flexible. Heck, I'm pretty sure it's straight out better. You probably want at most two members of an alliance going the sieger/tear stealer route, and they had better be awesome at the early game to compensate for the lack of legacy help there.
That said, the allure of lvl 10 "Population contribution" (gain gold equal to 10% of that hero's army power each day; with 10 Sphinxes, maintenance will be only 7.5%...) cannot be denied. I still haven't made my decision yet, and I'm currently leaning toward just getting a lvl 10 Radiant shield to avoid having to make a decision at all this season.
