I'm having some problems with this that I hope someone can help with. I've installed WoG 3.58 and VCMI 0.92, but there are a few issues:
-For some reason, I can't enlarge the VCMI Heroes window, but apart from that, it works well until I start a scenario - then, it just crashes with no error report;
-When started, the VCMI client says "loading mod WoG" and "loading mod VCMI essentials," but also "directory forge 0 dooes not contain VCMI mod," even though I put the forge files in the Mods folder, as per instruction.
Any ideas on how to fix these things?

1) You can change resolution using "System Options" dialog after starting the game
2) You'll need to upload logs (VCMI_Client_log.txt and if exists - VCMI_Server_log.txt). They may have some information on what caused the crash.
3) You should unpack not "forge 0.3" itself into Mods but 3 subfolders (forge-town, forge-creatures, forge-heroes).

Yes, you're right about the Mod files, I now have access to the Forge, thanks. Still, I can't find the "System options" in VCMI. It opens normally when first starting WoG, but not here... and the logs are an even bigger issue: right after I start a scenario, I see several lines of text flash in the VCMI screen and than the game crashes. There's no way to read what it says, or find the logs you mentioned anywhere else, and it's not just the Forge, it crashes no matter which scenario or campaign I start, regardless of the faction

System options is dialog from in original game - the one where you can set hero speed, music volume and so on. You'll need to start scenario to access it though.
Logs (1-2 files that I mentioned) should be created in the same directory as VCMI_client.exe (assuming that you're using Windows).

No, it doesn't, it really is the tenth town, but good luck trying to get it working...
IvanSav, thanks again for the help, but there's no way I can start it and the logs are nowhere to be found; even reinstalling doesn't help.

Perhaps VCMI does not have write access to game directory? Not sure when this may happen. Maybe UAC from Vista\7?
In this case starting VCMI as admin should help. Or try installing game somewhere else like D:\Heroes 3\

Installing Forge only took me about 10 minutes - 5 minutes for installing H3, 2 minutes for ERA2, 1 minute for VCMI, 1 minute for copying 3 Forge sub-folders into mods folder and then 1 minute till i started playing. Easy, isn't it?

The version is WoG 3.58f/ERA 1.8. Now, WoG itself is working just fine, but when starting a scenario or campaign in VCMI, it crashes with no error report.
The problem with starting VCMI as admin is that, while I do get the VCMI screen, the game itself doesn't start.

I think, you must install only WOG, without ERA.

Fred still did not get how Era works... Of course 1.8 is outdated, 2.4 has no flaws and allows the faster modding, not matter how many graphics you add.

Of course it does, it always did. You can drag thousand of defs at once in the pac, maybe you are using the wrong tools or some other manipulation error.

Hey, about Paul Romero not answering his mail, or maybe being reluctant to write new music... I wouldn't know for sure...but then there is this:

Just food for thought, actually I've written to him (youtube profile) to ask if any new material would be composed by him for the new Heroes 6 expansion, and he was quick to answer (very nice guy in my opinion!)...sadly, he hasn't been asked by UBIsoft to compose new music for the series.

By the way, I just finally managed to make this Forge run among other mods.
It's a bug report.
When I buy "Shipyard", on townscreen appears not shipyard but some add-on to City Hall and borders for shipyard are displayed.
When I buy boat, now shipyard appears on screen.
I think, in "structures.json" for id=6 animation must be set "TBELboat.def" instead of "TBELdock.def".
And this strange adding "TBELdock.def" must be made some special building.
PS Do you plan to resize map dwellings? They don't fit to 64x64 and look scrapped.
