Quote: A little spoiler from HOTA closed forums so you know forge is developing.
There are 3 reasons behind this change:
a) Original forge appeared to be on the place of the new grail. New model doesn't interfier with grail's sprite
b) it's closer for updated forge design
c) it's made based on original pencil concept of NWC
Very nice work. Keep us updated.

The new Blacksmith looks great, it's good that they decided to use base it on the original art - less lengthy spikes and all
Considering that Cove took some 4 years to complete, it wouldn't be realistic to expect the Forge to be finished before 2015/6. But with the HotA team working on it, I'm absolutely certain it'll be worth the wait. Cove is just fabulous, from what I can tell from the pictures and screenshots.
Off topic, does anybody know when the English version of HotA 1 will be released by any chance? It's been "soon" for quite some time now.

I don't like this Town. If it was more steam punk... but jet pack, flame thrower isn't the heroes 3 spirit I have.
Here you have some def's and templates for Froge Town.

Those are the models designed by BigJoker and Zielevitz several years ago, I think. The HotA team will probably design their own, considering their work so far.
Tower has elements of steampunk (Skyship), along with classical Greco-Roman ones. The Forge is pure dieselpunk, even the architecture is that of Art Deco.
It certainly is a big leap from the traditional HoM&M that Heroes-only fans are used to, but for most of us who played Might & Magic as well, it is a welcome (and eagerly awaited) connection between the two halves of the same Universe.

This spirit was last seen in Heroes of Might and Magic II, with its heraldic graphics and whimsical flavor text, no games after that had this spirit in my opinion.
The 3D graphics, the creatures and heroes design, the writing that delves into the ramifications of Roland's captivity or farming creatures for skeletons, the game which tries so hard to be badass and serious business... all these elements gave Heroes of Might and Magic III a totally different spirit from its predecessor and without the Heavenly Forge, this spirit simply falls flat.

I believe that dedicated players will play whatever comes with beautiful graphics and well done balance. Be it lasers, Jedi swords or nuclear weapons.
For the few "analysts" which keep explaining every pixel through some "game universe" vision, modders couldn't care less about them. They usually play very little the game, talk a lot and most of time are criticizing without providing any material help.

On the AcidCave Forum BanBreaker has posted two links from the old Forge Team from Poland. He said that the group has splitted up some time ago, yet one of the group member (who wants to be anonymous) gave him Forge files which has been finished.
These files can be downloaded HERE.
While the project's overall look isn't amazing, there are two Alex-ander and KomandoRR's defs of Forge goblins, so it seems like Alex-ander HAS gave this group his work.
Yet another thing has been revealed by BanBreaker - statement about Paul Romero's work seems to be true. This is an e-mail image by anonymous member:
And the music and sound effects can be downloaded HERE. Yes, there is a soundtrack that looks like something made by Romero.
Now, when I have a dwarf, I want some questions.

If I'm getting this right, the Polish team got Alex-ander's and Don KomandoRR's work AND Paul Romero's themes and *then* fell apart? It's like someone cast Expert Curse and Misfortune on them, can't imagine how it could have gone worse
Well, at least they didn't lie about the themes... their pacing seems a bit strange at times and might take some getting used to, but that's Paul's work all right. Hobbit, huge thanks for the links and the news
Now, if only we could find someone to use these things and finish the project...

Well, except they probably won't use these files. Even the music, while it doesn't even sound like something from HoMM games.

Well, we know they wouldn't use it, but then I guess whatever they make will be worth the wait. So, onward to 2015, the year that'll bring us the Forge and Star Wars Episode VII

Don_ko refused to give his town screen - and I think that it was a right decision.

Yeah. So much work going for waste, makes no sense.

Duuuh, why should I give my yet unfinished screen to somebody if I was working on it???
Now the Forge town in Hota so I keep developing screen further (but super slow because of other tasks).
Nothing is abandoned.

It's strange that here still hasn't been a single mention of this work.

What is it? I mean, it's obviously a Naga Tank, but is it part of a new project or what? The level of detail and the smoothness of animation makes it seem like it could never be implemented into Heroes 3. The DF2 thread is named "author works for Heroes", but that's as much as I can decipher with my knowledge of Russian
