I wonder how much longer I'll have a nervous system to affect... Melony silently wondered. She knew what was happening to her, and that it was a long time coming. This transformation should have happened decades ago... the stasis must have stopped it, while contact with Miasma had kick started her transformation again, though it had taken a while to do so. Out loud, Melony said, "Trust me to know my own limits, which you obviously do not-" A familiar presence appeared in the base, "Jack is back. So is your boss. Can I have a phone please? I had hoped to talk to someone before they had returned."

- Super No 2158 insists of being allowed to walk, but her treatment is not yet...
- Mhm. looks fine by the look of it.
The medic found it useless to argue with Lena.
- I'll take my leave then. the miss also insists on getting a possesion of something you call a phone. We do not have human technology in here.
- Don't worry, I'll get something for her.
- Very well.
- Dad and Kane are a bit busy right now. We can go see them in a few moments.- Lena said- Oh, and here's a sort of a phone they use.- Lena threw a silver disc shaped device with an indigo button at the center.

Melony looks closely at the peculiar device, but still finds no number pad. "So I'm guessing that you press the middle button to turn it on, but then after that how do you enter a number?"

"I never felt particularly 'bad,' just a bit tired." Melony gives him a hug in return, "So how did the interrogation that you think I'm too sweet and innocent to know about or understand go? Did you two get what you needed?" There would be no other reason Kane would have thought she should be left behind. Or, that's what Melony assumed. Hopefully Kane didn't think that she needed protecting...

"We got what we needed, which wasn't too much really." Kane shrugged. "He didn't know much."
He looked at her and gave her a crooked smile. "You know I feel protective toward you, it has nothing to do with you being weak or anything. It has to do with me not wanting you to see things you should not have to see. I hope you do not feel bad toward me for not letting you come with us."

Rob passed out during the surgery and woke up later in a windowless room with one arm chained to the bed he was lying on. He was slightly groggy and had no idea how much time had passed. He could see an IV drip in the corner of his eye.
Before he could call someone, the door he was facing swung open. A robot stalked in, yet it had an intrinsic human quality about that Rob could not put his finger on.
"Do not speak, I have things to tell you. It is easier if you do not question or interupt." The robot had the same raspy metallic voice as he had heard. He recalled the doctor called that voice Rex.
"I have taken you from the battle because I have chosen you to do something higher. Humanity is flawed. It is horribly flawed and will perpetually descend into infighting. Eventually that infighting will cause humanity's own destruction. And that destruction is very near with the greater emergence of super powers. I doubt it will be after you are able to die of old age." Rob looked at the robot quizzically and it seemed to respond.
"In other words, humanity will destroy itself soon and you will likely die with the rest of it. If humankind it to survive it has to transcend it's own humanity. There are ways to do that, but I only know of one way that is unacceptable. There will be very few people who are willing to become a digitized collective."
The robot created a holographic image through it's claws. It showed a 3-D map of New Constantinople.
"Six days after you are released, the city will suffer a series of subterranean cave ins. Which will ammount to destruction of these areas." The hologram showed several parts of the city collapse and at the same time the information was burned into Rob's mind. He knew where those places were, even though he had not been to a quarter of them.
"After those cave ins, the Machine Mob will be no more. Any and all who claim otherwise are liars and frauds. Untill that time, any attempt to break into their holdings will be met with the usual show of superior force. The Machine Mob will erase it's own existance. Any attempt to reverse-engineer any piece of Machine Mob tech will result in catastrophic failure, as it is infected and it is best to lay it to rest. Earth is no longer our interest, no longer our business, no longer our problem. We leave humanity to the end of it's own choosing."
The female doctor who had operated on Rob came in the room. The robot turned to her.
"How long before he is ready to be moved?"
"I'd say 2 hours, 3 tops." She replied.
The robot turned to Rob again.
"Have you understood all I have told you?"
"......Yes." It was all Rob could manage, his throat was dry and hoarse.
"Put him under, I have a final proposition for you when you are done, Doctor." The robot commanded and left. But then turned and said something else.
"Almost forgot. Give Comrade Vlad my thanks. His Xenos friends were mighty helpfull. Their designs were flawed, but a usefull starting point."
The robot now truely left.
The Doctor took a syringe out of her pocket and injected it into Rob's IV drip. Rob fell unconsious only a few seconds later.
2.5 days after the battle where Rob disappeared he woke up in an alley somewhere in New Constantinople. Next to him lay 2 bodies. One was that of the Doctor he had seen. She was in a coma, perfectly healthy but a coma she would never wake up from. She was later identified as Desiree Violet, a woman who disappeared several years earlier. The other body, or better said corpse was horribly mangled. It was missing several limbs or parts thereof, most of it's internal organs and 2/3 of it's brain was removed. It was crudely stiched up, though the mangling had been done with immaculate precision. The corpse was later identified as former Supervillain Rex Mallard.
The cave ins happened as predicted. And though very few noticed, at the same time a spacecraft launched itself from earth.

Vlad was sitting at his desk, typing something into the computer. He refilled his glass with ice cold vodka.
- So, how's she feeling?- Vlad asked Kane, who had just entered the room. He poured another glass for Kane.
- The Evolon made quick work of finding this Volkov fellow, But that's for tommorow. If you're still hyped from our little interrogation you might want to go to the training room to smash some dummies. And by dummies comrade, I mean Combat Simulation Droids or CSDs as Evolon call them. It's kinda fun to smash those mass produced things. Lena enjoys beating them a lot. I prefer Mallard's cans.

"Reassuring." Melony says when Lenna finishes the second part of her sentence, "Thank you for explaining this for me, I haven't seen anything this advanced in a long time. Now let's see here..." Melony pulled out Li's card, "Enter in the number and..." walking out into the hallway, Melony enters in the number and puts what one would assume to be the speaker to her ear and hears the phone ring one... twice...

Lara stared open mouthed in shock at John, aware that the strange red ball he held was making her stomach knot and churn .... that or the Chinese was repeating on her.
She was speechless ... did he honestly think she was capable of this? She barely had control over herself. Looking into his eyes, she realized he was totally sincere. And her stomach churned again.

Li was in a restaurant with Jacqueline, James, and Al-Bashir. All of them specialists. They were off duty for the time being and had decided to get some food at the more protected upscale New Constantinople. Despite how safe the area was, these days it looked more like a city in a police state, with government agents guarding every street and choppers on rooftops ready to go in the event of a crisis.
Li was in the middle of his salad when his phone started ringing. He took it out of his pocket and noticed that the caller was unknown. Li answered, "Hello, this is Detective Li Guo. Who is this?"
