My impressions from watching youtube videos like this:

- Combat animations are slooooow, anemic actually.
- Music is forgettable. It's not technically bad, it's just that it fails to evoke any feelings. Like something played by Yngwie Malmsteen.
- Damage dealt by units in combat seems incredibly low. 35 shield guys (haven core) attack 5 praetorians (the same unit, upgraded). 3 praetorians die !!! Combats invariably ends in a melee, because both shooters and infantry protecting them fail to deal enough damage fast enough. 20 crossbowmen shoot - 1 or 2 praetorians die. 16 praetorians attack - 1 crossbowman dies.
It seems warcrafty - low damage, everyone moves wherever he wishes, no dire consequences from a bad move. Don't expect shooters to stop someone from reaching you. I assume No Melee Penalty is the most valuable shooter special now.
- Adventure map locations are few, and very big.
- Voice acting is pathetic in some places (orcs).
- Town interface is confusing, lots of strange icons, tabs. 3 rows of creature faces - bleh.
- I don't like single neutral stacks in combat. For example you attack some swordsmen and there are 16 in one stack, no more stacks. This is inherently less strategic. No need to use divide and conquer methods, fancy tactics like slowing the ones in front, etc.

What about more impressions coming after you have actually played the demo? No offense, but judging from videos is just pointless and poor, however you might be right at some points...

How about not playing the demo because they've managed to make combat boring to watch ? That's the whole point - youtube videos before I start downloading 4GB. But I think I'll pass. I'm currently playing Heroes 1 and Heroes 2 and it looks more fun.

Animations speed can be adjusted, only few are actually annoying no matter what.
You compare the damage between two units that happen to be the most powerful core tank? If you play some more and try other factions you will see that damage is alright and that archers can be invaluable.
There's more locations than can be seen in broken alliance. Mostly combat ones.
What makes you think that neutral stacks do not split?

Overall very enjoyable, though of course the bugs do hold it back. I do believe they'll be fixed for release, or for patch 1.01. Have played Haven, Sanctuary and Necropolis, of which I found Sanctuary to be the most interesting, due to synergy between their units. To whoever was talking about the basic skeletons having the movement de-buff, it's also in my game so there's probably nothing individually wrong with yours. I also found that the Kappa's Leap ability, which in game states that it will increase the damage by 5% per square, seems to decrease instead. The Kappa Shoya's Leap splash damage isn't working either. I was able to play the first two missions of the campaign, so those are definitely working. About the crashes, if it's just the game freezing simply alt-tab out and open the game up again. If alt-tabbing doesn't work just open task manager, for me once the task manager was opened it miraculously started working again.

Hello,
I would like to ask about something:
In Demo, tavern's heroes don't have reputation bar in their hero UI.
Is it a bug or they are not intended to earn reputation points?

Only the avatar, your main hero can gain reputation unless the map specifically allows it.

Is there a way to cancel activating an ability? For example if it's the Kappa's turn and I press the Leap ability, can I then cancel that decision. It works if the hero hasn't moved yet, as you can just access the hero's options and the game will forget about Leap. It would be great if it were possible to cancel the ability anyway.

I'm pretty sure if you right-click it normally cancels the ability.

Some creatures, such as the ghosts, have too many (unecessary IMO) passive abilities.
I don't remember which exactly, due to me being unable to boot my computer because of some 'technical solution' I tried in order to get that blasted demo to work, *phew*
(which it did, but at what cost )
I think they could've grouped some of the abilities together and removed others (Living?! If it's neither a construct, elemental nor undead then it's most likely living, don't you think?)

I just downloaded the demo last night, and for some reason, I haven't been able to load it, and it says that I need to make an account on somewhere, what do I have to do to get it to work?

They need to have stuff like Living creature etc for game mechanics (so that Healing works etc).

General problem with the DEMO
Reputation classes are extremly unbalanced
How come a level 14 tears shaman gets a 20% unite bonus through his ultimate ability that he can use more then once in a batle and a level 13 Tear warlock gets almost no boost thourgh his gate that he can use once?
Also
Gatting MUST BE ALLOWED more then once pre stack and batle. This Limit makes this racial utterly useless in later parts of a long batle (what use is for ma a full gatting gauge, when I have only 4 stacks left, two have already gated, one can not be gatted an the last one has only a couple of last troops) In compared to other racials Gatting is utterly week

You can gate multiple times from the same unit, just make sure that the previous gate leftovers die. I tend to kill them off so I can gate anew.

I really enjoyed the demo. I'm in love with the gameplay - it is waay better than I had expected it to be. Though, I gotta admit I miss those epic town screens. Also, I'd like some more variety of factions cause I gotta admit 5 isn't enough. And I got to add that I dislike the fact that the water elemental is just a recolor of the mizu kami and that the light elemental is just a recolor of the radiant glory, I'd enjoy them more if they had new models + skins. And finally I'd hope to hear a remixed version of HoMM III's Combat 2 track in the official release - it was the best track IMO.
