I wouldn't know about that one. I wasn't allowed to play the second map of the Orc campaign.

Quote: I miss the Larry Elmore-esque artstyle of Heroes 2...
So do I, and I asked about it recently, but it's not coming back to the series unless we make a mod or something.
I have been hoping to make a total conversion for H6 set in the old universe (with the classic Larry Elmore graphics), but that depends on when the proper modding tools emerge and how much interest there is.

That'd be awesome but nigh impossible, I think.
The H2 units were heavy on 'face language' (you know, they would look surprised or scared when they're hit and such).

I Just noticed one sad thing while reading through the D.W. descriptions.
Medusas are just Pearl Maidens. No beastman or creatures from the mythic times just common Pearl Maidens that live solitary and worship the destructive aspect of Shalassa.. So sad:-(

Why does it annoy you? All Heroes have to be born some day ... couple of years before they become a Hero . Well, Inferno Heroes perhaps excluded.

It bothers me because "Blah blah blah here's my life story. This is why I chose/was chosen to join this particular faction blah blah"
Read Zhayou's biography. It isn't even about the guy, but his father.
I thought the guy was into incest when I first read it.
And the constant name-dropping.
The other games did that too, but they were few and thus made the characters having them seem more important.
The H4 ones were much better (by comparison).
They're short and to the point, and doesn't read like someone had to fill out a 2 pages long essay for their homework assignment.
I mean, I'm no writer, and even I can tell that they've used an abundance of words that doesn't add anything.
It's not a huge problem, just one of many.

It's formula-writing. You see it with a lot of stories that are told over the course of a series of books, because it's easier to come up with multiple stories that all follow the same framework.
You don't usually see the same formula used for every character within a single story.
It's like a bunch of D&D players decided to write up their character bios, without consulting each other to see who would do what with their backstory - and then it turns out all of them are exiled drow rangers who just want to be accepted on the surface.

Ah, yes. The legendary Smith Duchy, who were known for being extremely grateful at the end of the work week. Their Dynasty Weapon is the little blinky light that erases your memory; and in the campaign where everyone in the Duchy becomes undead, only Duke Will had the courage and fortitude to survive, scavenging the ruins of the great city with his trusty canine companion and a Noisy Cricket.
And then his successor, Jaden, went on to become an adept of water magic, studying under the tutelage of the naga master, Jackie Chan.
...I don't know how it happened, but that post kinda got away from me there...

This got me thinking about the creature faces in all of the games. While Homm2 had definite facial expressions, Homm1 by far had the most dramatic!!
It seems there is a trend away from facial expressions.

Speaking of incest, did anyone else notice that particularly creepy & incest-like comment in the Haven campaign? I felt awkward reading it, and especially awkward hearing it in the audio lol.

Just realise that H6 actually rocks regarding speed/navigation through the various windows....I mean I played a H3 and an H5 map recently and it was slow opening various windows, recruiting troops, splitting troops, trading resources, etc. they all happen at lightning clicks of your mouse which is great....

Examples of what I mean by quick:
1. Follow these steps:
- Go into your town
- Upgrade a creature
- buy all creatures
H3 - long process
H5 - medium/long process
H6 - very quick (few seconds)
2. In battle, when defending a unit:
H3 - 3 seconds between current creature turn and next creature turn
H5 - same as H3 but slightly shorter
H6 - Instant (I mean if you have 3 creatures going in a row, you can defend 3 times in a matter of 1-2 seconds)
