Well, not to worry. Ubisoft's "days" could as well be weeks.

Ubi_Irina just made a statement on the official forum saying that there is no estimate for the release of the patch but that they "will make an official announcement very shortly".

Probably Irina only said that to calm down all the rage towards the game...

Which only made people rage more.

They were kinda right about it too. Just a vague message after all this time, does make it look like a bad joke. But to me, it's better than nothing.

Takes guts for a UbiHole employee to talk in the forums and even reply to some posts with all the bashing they're getting around. And well, it might not be much but it still is something.

I believe that if this was done in a more regular basis, people would eventually calm down. I know I would calm down.

Here's another piece of interesting of information. Later Irina said this:

"No, town screens are on our list of improvements to be done, but it will not be included in the coming patch for sure.

There is no officially stated date yet. I'd like to tell you more, but as far as it has not been decided yet, it is not possible :-(.

An every week patch will not be possible: it is rather time-consuming for developers to test it, so once a month looks more realistic to me. This suggestion will be communicated to the developers. After that, let's see together if there is enough content to be patched or hopefully it will not be necessary any more Smile."

So the patch that takes so long to be released was not because they were creating the new town screens too... Hmm, I always thought this was what kept them. Wonder why then?

And they're willing to release small patches more frequently, which is the good news if you ask me.

Not really. And from her position I can understand her silence, truth is that in times of silence there actually is little substantial to say. But fans just don't think like that, they just want to know what ground they are standing on.

What I learned from Ubi's silence is, that it's when they got nothing good to say.

There are too many things about the game that we took for granted and during development, Ubisoft did not ever mention them. We didn't ask for them cause we took for granted, standards for the game. And surprise, surprise the game is released and they were not in it. If we knew they were going to omit them, we would have pressed them about it.

So if you ask me, it's better to make them start talking about everything and anything, so there won't be anymore bad surprises in store for us.

Well Kodial, it would be disingenuous of me to say that you don't have a point. If I've learned anything at all from being watching H6, it's that A) Ubisoft is a self-contradictory organisation in many ways and B) don't ever be too immediately quick to trust in the developers just because they're the developers. That's not a statement of disillusionment, but I feel this detachment between fans who want the next best Heroes game since H3 (like myself) and Ubisoft's production team will never go away as long as the low-communication policy continues.

Endless whiny one-liners after one-liners are of no help, but I am very slow to condemn anybody who complains about the game and identifies its flaws in a rational manner, because raising hell with people power does generally tend to have an effect.

At least Irina knows something about what is happening in the development of the patch. I was afraid that Ubisoft would ask her to simply say anything to maintain the fans calmed down
About the new townscreens, I wasn't expecting them to be in this patch anyway. It would be very difficult for the developers to correct some bugs and implement the new townscreens in less than three months.

I'm kind of hoping that this upcoming patch fixes all of the bugs with the game.  If the bugs can be fixed, I think a lot of the complaints will disappear, and they can focus on actually improving the game itself (which I think is what everyone wants eventually).

Testing typically takes a week; this means that, in order to release a patch every month, you only get three weeks of actual development time.  Over the course of four months, you end up losing an entire month of development because of testing.

As much as it sucks, it would actually better for the players if the developers released a patch every two or three months instead - fix a lot more bugs, improve a lot more features, and ultimately make everyone a lot happier more quickly than releasing a series of what are essentially gameplay bandaids.

I believe all graphics and concept design for H6 were done by 3mages, a 3rd party studio. They would be creating the town screens as well I'm guessing, but the implementation testing of them would fall on BH. If there's a lot of specific animation for these screens too, then that task falls on Puppetworks (though I believe they've mostly been responsible for the creature/unit rigging and animation).

My theory is that the main part of the waiting time for this patch is the testing of the fixes and/or changes in it. This has been interpretable via some of the developers' postings.
