While I am not surprised by the new DLC, i must admit that news of "GOLD" edition is slightly disturbing.
Is this a way to tell us H6 is done for now and we won't see an expansion? Usually gold editions are saved for the end.

Actually, for some this is the best news I've heard in a while. As was stated by several people, including Ubisoft people, H6 has major design flaws. This game cannot ever reach the state fans are expecting from it. Sure, with respect to the bugged and unbalanced version things could be changed and were changed to a certain extent. But the major design flows will remain since changing those will be equivalent in terms of resources to developing a new Heroes. No matter what they would do to H6, people would not be able to connect with the game as they did in previous versions. Having 1 or 2 extra factions in H6 will make the game feel a bit better but overall it will not be drastically changed. Fans will have the same bad taste in their mouths. Instead of waiting for 6 months to 1 year for a game that it will still feel flawed, I prefer to wait between 1-1.5 years for a new game that will add the content of the expansions and of course continue it.

Well some games have come up with gold editions then diamond then platinum editions. An example of something like this was Neverwinter Nights.

Yes, but if the follow the current trend, Heroes VII will have 4 factions at the beginning and a truckload of missing features. They did it twice already, what reason do we have to believe that they won't do it again? Or, imagine the worst possible outcome which isn't really impossible - they game being turned into a MMO.

Good point, but I think they might mean it's the gold edition for Heroes VI vanilla. After this, we should see expansion packs...

Ubisoft has disappointed me not once, but twice already. With Heroes 5 I was quite positive, when I heard that Nival, a good studio, will be making it. Sadly, they didn't meat my expectations. Although the game had it's good sides, overall I was not happy with it. A big studio didn't make it, so Ubisoft gave the game to a much smaller one, once again showing us that they don't give a crab about the franchise (well in a game sense, not milking sense). With Heroes VI, the game had potential, but Ubisoft crashed it with it's "make money with small costs" policy.
They are putting less and less resources in the franchise, and by the look of things, they are making all those franchise-based games to find new ways of milking gamers. I have absolutely no interest in Heroes Online, and aside from many players, which gave a positive response, I'm not interested in a game that is a cheap mix of H5 and H6 with archaic graphics (although that's not a bad thing, I'm just pointing out the games art and concept direction). As such, I don't have any hopes for Heroes VII. I suspect that the game will be a simple, online F2P game...

the dlc itself seems alright. but the more disturbing thing is they don't seem to have the confidence or courage to release info on expansion, new faction, more improvement...etc. they just sell you a dlc which some of the guys from this forum has already found out in the first dlc....
hope ubi knows what itself is doing

Actually Gold Edition means that you get game with all previous released expansions/DLCs in one package, not that it's end of the line and there won't be more DLCs/add-ons.
Besides Gold Edition you have also: Platinium Edition, Complete Edition and of course Game of the Year - while two last are usually game with all its add-ons and end of development cycle but not always.
We had HoMM3 Complete but we also had Heroes Chronicles "DLCs" after that.
Well, that was because of 3DO greed but it seems, that Ubisoft wants to fallow 3DO steps.

Yeah, gold edition doesn't mean zip, there's no fixed definition saying that gold edition is the end of the line.
For all we know it could mean there are more gold chests on the Heroes VI adventure maps

Quote: In addition to the release of this new content, a Gold Edition of the game will be in stores on September, 27 2012. This Gold Edition includes the original game Might & Magic Heroes VI, the two Adventure Packs and an exclusive new map. You will be able to take part in the infamous succession wars on this exclusive map based on the original Might & Magic world of Enroth.
Are they seriously doing THIS now ?! forcing people into buying their crappy game in order to play a MAP ?!
Quote: Developed by Limbic Entertainment GmbH in Germany, Might & Magic Heroes VI Danse Macabre Adventure Pack offers over 10-hours of epic adventure.
I finished the first in less than 8 hours, false publicity spotted ...
... so, yeah ... that's how low they fell ... pathetic ...

Well, since they did the same kind of thing with the first "special edition" (where you could get Yume, Akasha, some other heroes I forgot about and a "campaign" with Sveltana) I'm not event sure they will make it available --', Ubi.Sucks.Hard .
Edit: I've asked my cousin to ask if the map was going to be available anywhere out of the Gold Edition, and they said no.

The only reason I can think off is that most likely they would reuse the graphics engine (which was over half the budget, and one of the few decent things in the game) and probably many, if not all creature animations. So in reality if they released H7 within a couple of years it would be to H6 what TotE was to H5, rather than a completely new game (even if they would charge full price for it). Talking about the amount of game changes and new content, and not the quality and improvement of the game.

Gold Edition? Serious? How do they dare? In my book this is a late-beta - there are bugs but the game is playable, also as anyone knows it needs more balancing.
About the DLC, once again like the previous, the new one is overpriced and cheap trick to attract more customers by ripping-off a character from the old universe.
Ubisoft sold mid-beta to the people last October for average price of ˆ60. Now they’re selling 2 DLC’s sum for ˆ20, price that can be compared to the price of a whole expansion. So all in all, people will get something that doesn’t meet its price.
I’m curious what level can reach Ubisoft's greed and insolence. And I'm more, more curious how many fans/customers will fall again in the deception.

Well that settles it then. I'm not gonna get H6 or any other MM game from Ubi, ever. I'm still extremely surprised they even added the townscreens. Whatever, I'm staying in the past. M&M is dead to me.
