I had a hard time deciding wether dark elves should use earth or air magic but in the end I have to go for earth. Turning to Malassa should not necessarily mean that they abandon using earth magic and they live in dungeons and caves so they are constantly surrounded by both Malassa and Sylanna. They also uses a lot of poison which deals earth damage while air magic underground where there is no wind, sky or thunder makes no sense. The dark elves took refuge in the narrow caves, not under the open sky.

I think introducing Sanctuary was a good move. Finally something fresh although not too original. But that's okay because Heroes series creature rooster was never original to begin with (Shark Dragons or Cosmic Horrors anyone?).

Oh c'mon. Usually elf queens in fantasy settings are hot chicks in scanty suits. Tolkiens/Jacksons visions is one of those that made elven royalty look aristocratic. On the other hand we didn't see her before they stuffed her with drugs to do bad things with her . Maybe she had a more "noble" look before.

I don't know, it's just a hypothesis If memory serves the shadow ritual had those effects to those who took it.

The Compendium does not speak of white hair where the "shadow ritual" is concerned. But the black pupilless unblinking eyes are correct.

Ah found it. Guess the white hair was off or I saw something elsewhere.
Those who rise to the highest ranks undergo a secret ritual that lets them commune directly with Malassa, making them capable of dreamwalking. When the ritual is complete, their eyes become black and pupiless, and they never blink again.

Well, her hair does look like if it was white on the ends, but it could be the light. I hope that she gets another piece of art.

Sylanna hasn't done anything to them though. Does she control rocks and that stuff, because if she does you could say that they live on her mercy

.. or go at war with the wizards and have to fight in a desert area ... the horror ... the horror ... a then again there are no wizard faction in H6 yet so there safe ..
But seriously I think that since is a fantasy full of magic world they have develop magic for hair care so white hair is just a fashion choice and statement that there bad girls you wouldn't want to mess with ...
Ok now seriously I think that the hole ritual is more a half baked reason in regard the writers need to highlight the sacrifice and devotion this witches take to show there loyalty to Malassa and it seams forced in the description, I think that just turning there pupils black would suffice as a statement that they are transformed by Malassa power and that they are somewhat special and powerful.

That depends when this is set and who is involved. Tuidhana died just after the Days of Tears of Fire in 566. If this is set after that, then perhaps only in flashbacks.
As for the Children, that wholly depends on which clans are involved in whatever is going down in the campaigns.

Can I be the first to say that seeing the Young Raelag turning to the chaos side is ahmm overly clinched (Ep 1-3 Star Wars) especially since I found Raelag in H5 to be a a silly concept of a tragically in love character, like a well known immortal hero targeted to 14 old teen girls who's in love with the tragic young "princess" (whole Twilight saga), because from what I get hes going to be focus of the H6 expansion campaign.
I personally would love to see more War of the Bitter Ashes – Birth of the Dark Elves and not just the already happed fact and there struggle of creating a future for themselves... I know slim chance considering that would mean actually showing Sylvan and I always found the story of tragic end for the main character based on choices that are at first good and also hope to see a actual strong female character and even more so well written and not the jokes that where the 2 Griffin sisters from vanilla ... hopping to much ...
EDIT 2:
A for goodness sake never mind just read the Q&A thread the only good thing is that I found Legends of Arana quite good for a fan made maps and story so will see

Raelag is stated to be a powerhungry renegade who accepted the ofer of demon cultists, Not exactly what I would call a prototype of an Darkelf...

Well yes which is why I dislike him because as easily as he accepts the demons as easily he turns on them because he falls in love with a human female (creepy itself since he watched her grow up ...) who becomes the future Queen in H5 so yes not a prototype of an Darkelf down wright inconsistent character poorly written in H5 and forcibly tide in with the H6

Quote: And that's an even better reason for the Dark Elves having air magic and not Earth magic.
All factions in H6 have two healing spells: Regeneration and Heal/Life Drain (Orcs have all of them). Dark Elves should have dark magic (and Life Drain), so if they won't have earth magic (and Regeneration), they will be in worse situation then Inferno, which units die a lot.
Quote: Raelag is stated to be a powerhungry renegade who accepted the ofer of demon cultists, Not exactly what I would call a prototype of an Darkelf...
Ekhm...
Quote: Raelag has said as many prayers to Malassa, the Dragon Goddess of Darkness, as to Sylanna, the Dragon Goddess of Earth. He still remembers with bittersweet regret his years on the surface of Ashan. Thing were so simple then...
Eldest of Queen Tuidhana's three sons, he became the leader of the Soulscar clan after the Dark Elves' exile. Fueled with anger and bitterness, and facing his kind's extermination at the hand of the Dwarves, Raelag was approached Kha-Beleth, the Demon Sovereign… Despite all his efforts to escape his dark destiny, Raelag would eventually become Kha-Beleth's servant.
