good news all around! I understand why you have a difficult choice between being faithful to heroes 2 or 3, when it comes to upgrades...I'm guessing you will have a few upgrades but most units will only have 1 type.
Still, It is good you will add it later in the minimod concept,playing the game as you wish has always been an important part of Heroes,with the success of WOG and custom scripts reinforces that.
anyway,I can understand it(when it comes to art at least) I tried making a H2 creature,spent around 3 hours and it looked like an abomination...

I liked the H2 upgrade system just fine personally,
I enjoyed all creatures having upgrades in H3 but I don't think it is absolutely necessary when making this mod. And I miss the Green Dragon having two upgrades.

Actually green dragon had it own script for two upgrades in earlier versions, so don't worry it's going to stay in this way 
Personally I am also not that good in creating new monsters from scratch, thus I am going to animate a few existing models after all basic sprites will be done. There are so many ideas waiting for their realisation, that I shouldn't complain about lack of work

Dragons where always my favorite, In heroes 1 and 2. I remember playing 3 as a child and being dissapointed because they weren't the strongest (Damn you, Angels!!)

Not only their strengh was lovered, but also were slowed down. Bird is fastest but weak, Angels and Devils outspeed near all factions except Conflux.

The project team wishes all of you happy 2016 and keeps up the work. As many of you could notice, the amount of work required for a _really_playable_ beta release is enormously large, but we ask you to be patient and not forget that the major hope for Heroes 2 legacy is still alive and kicking. The work is continued on a free basis, and we still need time, despite we get a lot of help from the teams of Heroes Of Might & Magic III: Horn Of The Abyss and Heroes Might and Magic III In the Wake of Gods.
Don't forget about our new official forum, which is located at FORUMS OF ENROTH and is working in a stable mode. Public interest and community spirit is one of the most important things which turn the wheels in the right direction.
The release date is to be announced, but we plan to use the following several months to our advantage. Yes, we all want to play the game as well as you. Praise Enroth!

Thanks man. Well, the reason for absence was much more prosaic - I was cut off from the Internet for several weeks due to major repairs at home. I am still recovering from a major modding hiatus, but I hope I will be able to catch the breath.

The compatibility with the HD Mod by baratorch has always been one of the hot topics on our info sources. Here is the result of the work towards this direction: the additional interface elements complement to the overall graphic style, which saves the atmosphere and allows the player to get full pleasure from the gaming process. Yet, the HD+ functionality will most probably be inaccessible because of technical reasons.

It looks o-u-t-s-t-a-n-d-i-n-g ! Years ago I was trying to think how would have HoMM 2 look like if HoMM 3 kept its atmosphere and graphic style. It would look like your project, Orzie. Each picture looks even better than previous one, even if the previous one looked good already.
