to be fair that was not a **** film because it triggered snowflake MRAs but because it was actually a **** film, that was a poorly paced and stubbornly illogical script cheers lol

I started getting critical at the major got stuff before I read any criticism online. Speaking of star wars, I read earlier today that Rian Johnson is out after all. Rejoice?

I've criticized GoT before it got hip

Nah, I know about the shows shortcomings, but I simply find some points of the critic silly.

It all makes sense now.  All the awkwardness and stupidness in ep 3 & 4 were to set up Dany's heel turn.

Dumbass Dothraki charge:  This was to minimize the importance of Dany's troops in the battle of winterfell, which was to minimize her role, and thus further her character arc of not feeling love from the Westerosis and thus arriving at the conclusion that she needs to rule by terror.

Dumbass positioning of unsullied outside the fortifications followed by their haphazard retreat and destruction: see Dumbass Dothraki charge.

Danaryeaus's dumbass travel to Dragonrock for no strategic or narrative purpose whatsoever: They had to have Missandae captured and executed in order for Dany to be in a perfect spitting fury at the battle of King's Landing.

The dumbass lack of scouting which resulted in Rhaegor[?] getting shot from the sky: Again, they needed to have a reason for Dany to be angry enough to demolish King's Landing after everybody had surrendered.

The wierd discrepancy in the scorpions's ability to aim between ep 4 & 5:  There had to be a clear moral choice for Dany (to fail!) in King's Landing, which required her dragon to be restored to a potent weapon of mass destruction and not just a fat turkey like in episode 4.

Overall it was kind of a cool episode as long as you don't think too hard about how people got from place to place.

And if you don't wonder how Arya is apparently dragonfire-proof. Still, i enjoyed the hell out this episode.

I'm disappointed. I'm rooting for Daenerys but oh well... she's a mad queen after all. It prolly runs in the family. Seems like they don't like girls sitting on the iron throne (ooppss...)

I don't blame her. The GoT world is apparently a man's world*. She felt isolated. Plus, a woman scorned and all that.

I wonder what all the critics have to say now, after criticizing the series for not being true to its "dark nature" and following fantasy tropes.

Being one of said criticizers, I can honestly say I liked it. Like FoG said, if you look too hard you see some discrepancies, but I enjoyed the episode on the whole and so didn't feel the need to dig too deep.

Well at this point people are complaining about her descent to madness being a rushed and out of a hat even, but when you look at it she had her reasons. She literally felt betrayed on all sides: lost supporters (Jorah and Missandei dead, Varys traitor, Jon not wanting to kiss her). She lost two of her Dragons which she treated like sons lets not forget. And she literally said that most of Westeros hates her anyway so...

You just know hell is going to break loose when things being too convenient. Fleet with ballistae presented as a threat? All burninated. Walls looking intimidating with lots of ballistae? Those too. Previous warnings of innocents getting caught in the crossfire? Zero casualties. Enemies lay down their weapons, bells ring.

Cue for Dany to lose her snow She totally lost it, she started mass murdering civilians. All she had to do was order that they go grab Cersei and bring her out but that would be too easy ^^ And what a waste of a perfectly good castle!

But if the second dragon had not gone down, this episode would not be as satisfying. You'd think of it as another Tuesday, how would you expect it to go differently? Last episode tried to make it sound like a difficult endeavour but nope, super easy, barely an invonvenience. That dragon carnage though, simply glorious. A force of nature as it should be.

Nice touch with the hound sending away Arya. The series was beginning to treat her like a superhero but she's still a young girl. Also Clegane bowl! And the obligatory Jaime vs Euron. What about the Cersei prophecy then? Is she still alive to meet a better end? Also what the hell grey worm!

Yes we all forgot that Dragons were force of nature. Even in the books there is this motive (I don't remember the names) where a Targaryen won a war by simply burning up all his enemies armies. Westeros is completly unprepared to fight Dragons (that's why they said Cersei has no chance), it only was leveled because in past years there usually were Dragon vs Dragon fights. They only should handled the Greyjoy ambush a bit differently, but guess you can explain it with the element of suprise (and focused fire). Keep in mind that ultimately this is what led to Cerseis downfall: she fought that killing one Dragon was proof those can be easiliy defeated.

I like the fact that many fans were expecting a long and exhausting battle, yet it was a clean massacre (for instance how the Golden Company was quickly dealt with).

PS: Oh and Elvin, Arya is 18

But whether mad or just emotionally unstable, Dany seriously screwed up. She's always been stupid but I think she outdid herself this time.

EDIT: I know, still young.

Heh, people are trashing the episode because it turned Dany into a mass murderer. I don't mind that, I just find it stupid. Don't go away Arya, someone's in dire need of stabbing!

All the hype for nothing. "Oh the final battles are going to rival the battle of Minas Tirith from LotR" What a crock of snow. It was over in an instant. It was such a disappointment. I was expecting a full blown siege. I was expecting Drogon in armor. Instead we got a damn nuke on wings that is suddenly invincible. I guess Drogon in armor did happen, plot armor that is.

This season has been such a disappointment to me. The writers are terrible and there is no continuity. They could have done it right, finished the series off right. Season 8 should have been all about the Night King, with the following season being all the final battles. But no, lets just rush it. 10 years of hard work and devotion, flushed down the toilet for the sake of brevity.

Also Daenerys going mad was just absolute bs. The past 7 seasons had done everything to set her apart from her father, to prove that she would not be the Mad Queen. Now all of the sudden she just does a 180 and turns like that? I turned it off for a few minutes when she started razing King's Landing. It left such a bad taste in my mouth. Just goes to show that the current writers don't know how to write. 7 seasons of development thrown in the trash.

Smh.

Yes, this is closer to the last jedi treatment of 'subverting expectations.' That is why I like Martin, he wouldn't change his story if some guessed it because that would undo years of building and foreshadowing. And just to surprise the audience? Not worth it.
