I'm not watching the show (only seen a few episodes from the first season) but in the books the Red Wedding was more than expected. Rob is/was an idiot and Martin built the background for his demise quite obviously. At least he was a believable character with his his brain-evaporating teenage romantic afflictions, unlike Daenerys' nigh annoying portrayal from a shy, confused girl to some genius mistress who leads armies, rules cities, commands dragons and f*cks with every second man or woman around her... all before the age of 14 or some such. There are a lot of nonsense, plot devices and twists for the sake of twists in the books despite the great storytelling qualities of the author so I suppose the TV series have inherited some or all of them.

I kinda saw the Red Wedding coming. I didn't expect it at the scope that it was, but I knew something was gonna happen.

Before this there was something called "the rule of hospitality" (can be read as: do not kill your guests in your own home). Plus they wanted to "make up" to Freys somehow for Robs blunder (Caitlinns brother was supposed to be wed to a Frey). Some characters even mention later on that since what Freys have done people all over Westeros are more reluctant to accept such invitations, and the event itself was highly criticized

I also knew something was coming but I didn't expect it to be like that. For me, it was kinda overkill. I think I hated the Lannisters more after that.
Did anyone saw the trailer of the the final episode? I'm just wondering what you guys think is going to happen. I think it will be Daenerys vs Jon now. It's kinda obvious but it didn't came to me until I watched the trailer.
I read something from facebook that Jon will stab Daenerys and Bran will be the king. I don't know if thats a joke.

I said I'm not watching the show.  The first season didn't manage to catch my interest so decided to skip the next ones. From what I hear from fanboys, moderates and critics, that was the right decision. I only hope Martin actually finishes at least the 6th book before his age catches up with him (looks like it already has at least to a degree), the 7th will most likely be written or co-written by somebody else anyway. I'm expecting the political landscape to be quite different from the series where, from what I've been told, Aegon Targaryen is not even mentioned past his supposed death by The Mountain's hands - while in the fifth novel he appears as an actual pretender - and quite a few other characters either behave differently or survive/get killed unlike their prototypes in the books. So the show shouldn't have spoiled too much.

I keep hearing that the episode was leaked already, and that this is what happens. Jon stabs Daenerys in the throne room—of Dragonstone I am assuming—thus killing her. Drogon takes her body and flies away. Jon becomes King.
Of course I don't really trust this cause it's just rumors/speculation. But we will see I guess.

Well you've seen it either way, be it a book, a wiki summary or sth else. Or maybe one of your friends told you Nah I'm just teasing you, there were signs this could've happened, but it was one of those "they wouldn't dare, or would they?" situations. Either way I remember being very angry with Rob while reading for his little escapade with the no-name girl...
Speaking of which, let's not forget Lady Stoneheart, her character might add a unique dynamic to the story in the books. She is, a what, half-zombie?
Unfortunately the TV adaptation came too early. Not only is Martin too lazy to finish the books now, he might also be influenced by it unwillingly...

There's an interesting theory floating around that GRRM and D&D had a falling out a few years back because D&D leaked some plot info that was ahead of the books. GRRM also started getting annoyed with important scenes that D&D were cutting out. So even though GRRM had finished the last two books he basically said "no plot for you!" and decided to hold onto the books until after the HBO series concluded.
If this is true then fairly soon he'll be announcing the publication of the next one in the series.

He denounced having completed the books, but you know, he can always say it was "a figure of speech"...
The theory of having a falling out might be true though, no creator likes his work to be tampered and he scarcely ever comments on the TV series, he rather talks about his books. And for me he looks like a person that can hold a grudge.
The question is, will his eventual conclusion be so much better then what we got in TV. People are clinging to this thought, but might be disappointed.

Heh, that would be amusing. It might even explain some things but it's equally plausible that D&D tried to cram too much content within a couple of short seasons at the cost of gradual character development. Last I checked, the petition to rewrite the 8th season(yes really) with different writers had reached 500k signatures. That's hilarious.
