Lol. So you are saying that most of the players are wrong, and you are right? Just to clear things: I like H4, but it has it's flaws, a lot of them.
Question if something is better is not the decision of the majority because everyone has right to have his own opinion. So you cannot say "of course h3 is better than h4". Me, myself and many h4 players can say: of course you are wrong.
Personally I think that h4 is only one game in the series that is worthy of big attention and every part of heroes made after is worse.

Of course everyone has right to subiective opinion. BUT THERE ARE OBJECTIVE FACTS! Some people love MMIX the best. But it is worst game in MM series. There is no way to say thats it is only subiective. And maybe MMVI is worst and MMIX the best.
Heroes IV is unfinished, bad ballanced, with very stupid AI, addons are very weak. HIII is finished with big and very good AB addon, ballanced, with good AI. Its no way to tell is worst than HIV. Objective facts.

Objectively & shortly about Homm III:
-Bad graphic (in comparison to HIV very bad)
-Bad battle system - you need only to collect big army and thats all. In Homm IV things are much complicated. You are really LEARN spells and you can really CHOOSE different tactic for every game. Players that know how to PROPERLY fight with heroes on the battlefield surely will agree with me.

You leave in a dream. Conceptually heroes IV is by far the best of the series but AI opponents completly suck. You can have amazing fixed battles but is almost impossible to buff AI opponents and have them running on the map, in the harder difficulties if you play badly they suicide on their way to you.

I was never interested in playing vs AI and I am "bad mannered" here because I told few words about guys who have a problem with AI in HIV. So yes, I have to agree - AI sucks in this game. Its not a problem for me!
But if someone thinks he is master because easy wins all campaigns on champion mode with AI - I would advice to try some game with decent human player. Then such "master" will find out himself as easier to beat than AI at the easiest level.

No doubt the AI needs help, but on CH there were actually alot of discussion on ways to improve/help the AI. Ofcourse this requires scripting, but a program is being developed, which will allow for any (pre made) script to easily be added to any map. Hopefully the fans will help compile a script library, with useful ways to help improve the AI.

AI doesn't exist and there is no Random Map Generator, how can this be the best for MP? You and your friends have some tactics that work against each other in the same custom maps and that makes you the champion? You are so biased you make me question my own attachment to Heroes IV.

The current one isn't very user friendly, but I just want to add, that a map generator is being made, and the progress is good. Hopefully it'll also include a Random map generator.

This is not a question of "few online friends with some tactics" man. I played with hundreds of players from all continents over the world (except Antarctica )
I can assure you - if you dont tried this game online - you will surely lose with every experienced player on every balanced map.

But that doesn't make the version the more suitable for MP.

Of course potentialy Heroes IV wolud be better but was not finished. As you know HIV is my favorite game. I still play it. Im one of world best lover of HIV (Its hard to find people who like...). But facts are facts. If you dont use RMG, singleplayer etc. you cant tell it is not usefull. In HIII we have genial RMG and good singpl. In HIV no. Facts. Its no way tell that unfinished, bad ballanced, with stupid AI, with no RMG game is better than game finished, ballanced, with good AI, with RMG etc. etc. We rate games how was published orginally...

I thought we are talking about the game and not about praising who is the best in other things. In fact I am not the best h4 player online - maybe just average.
Simply bothers me criticizing things you do not know at all. Surfing is beautiful sport and I dont say more because actually I never surfed at all.
Maybe you should just find a forum like "things I love to do". I dont visit other forums just to write things like: "oh what a horrible game" because I dont care.
Instead of surfing I can offer you online h4 game. If you dont want to lose quickly - there are also unexperienced players active on GameRanger.

Does anyone else reads what I said like this?
I f..ing love Heroes IV, I have done dozens of scripted objects, towns that when AI heroes visit them give skills and experience, objects that provide "random" battles based on best heroes levels, complex objects that tell stories, maps, etc... But I may take weeks to finnish a Heroes IV map, I will never try to schedule something like a competition in one of my maps.

Heroes 4 was very unique in series. NWC make it more to main series Might and Magic. I like idea to kill hero on battlefield instead of sending him to Tavern like in H3 or H5. What wanna change is camera from 2.5d to 2d or full 3d.

Most of us here likes HoMM IV, it's not back in the days where people would casually bash the game anymore. It just doesn't mean we all favor HoMM IV compared to other installments, and I think it make sense to explain why that is.
