Xerox: I prefer giving money to people who work rather than passively beg.
Artu: YOU HATE BEGGARS!!??
I fully support free migration and see it as the highest priority of liberalism. Those beggars have come to Sweden because its better than the situation of hatred and persecution they face in their native countries. It'd be much better if they could find work, but that's hard when you have to compete against one of the world's most heavily regulated, taxated and unionized labour markets.

That's a great idea by the way, someone must open a thread like "how can I solve my money problems?" and post these ideas.
I can't cause I'm busy trying to decide wich of these is more apealling "my 21 years old cat has cancer and needs an operation" or "my snow pisses inside cause I don't have a garden to have her outside. If I don't raise enouch money I'm going to abandon her in the parking lot".

Quote: Xerox: I prefer giving money to people who work rather than passively beg.

OK, I'll take your word (rephrase) for it. However, I still think your way of expressing it was not the best of choice. There are people from Romania and Bulgaria here, saying things like "Since Romania and Bulgaria joined the EU, there are Romani beggars all over the streets of every Swedish town and city." may poke them the wrong way.
The part about polycentrism is still here, although quite off topic. Just in a single post, if you support polycentrism, why do you prefer EU to nation states?

Again, my political views are not anarcho-capitalist.
My political views are best described as social libertarian. I support the EU and oppose the nation state because of my libertarian views, not because of anarcho-capitalist/voluntaryist philosophy.

That said, I wouldn't give a penny to your friend either. A game is hardly something that one can't do without, except maybe if his condition is pathological. In this case though, he would be in a specialized clinic and denied all access to the Internetz.
Well he asked people who have a stack of super rare games (not even unboxed). People who buy 5-6 unboxed Suikoden II games for 200$ EACH (they don't play it, they just let them rot in the display case) but when someone kindly asks them for help while sharing the jRPG passion, saying "games are too expensive" really is the peak of hypocrisy.
Look, I don't expect anyone to help him because he's a poor gamer from this ****hole country, but the amount of WRONG about this is just... over 9000.

So, just to be clear:
xerox said: I'm in a board of education and what I do there is not trying to shut every single public school down. So no, I'm not doing party politics on a voluntariyst platform. That doesn't mean I'm hiding my philosophical views though. Just that those are not suited for party politics.
And I'm really not trying to put you in a corner here, just trying to understand:
Your philosophical views and your political views are apart from each other, although anarcho-capitalism is not metaphysics or ethics or whatever I can list on and on, although the concept itself is directly about how a society should be governed, you dream of it as some higher, distant ideal. But when it comes to how today's problems should be solved, you put it aside?

Your friend just went about it the wrong way, DF. You have to put a spin on this. People aren't interested in poor people begging for money. But if your friend makes a little video of a one-legged G.I. Joe who needed funds so he can buy an Xbox (for example) to impress the girls and get laid. Likelihood is, you will be flooded with donations. Then all your friend does is put out another vid of a G.I. with a brand new prosthetic leg and surrounded by naked Barbi's!!!!
Gotta to entertain those rich folks, DF. They are paying you, so jump monkey boy, jump!!
PS. I wouldn't have donated anything to your friend either. Owning a game isn't necessary by any stretch of the imagination. These sites are not built around charity, its built around dumb rich kids who are bored for a few minutes.

The problem with those philosophies is that they all result in oligarquies.

Not Xerox, but I hope I understand him correctly -
According to him, anarcho-capitalism is ideal, but it's so unpopular that seriously advocating for it politically is a losing proposition. Minimal government is the second-best alternative, and is more likely to be popular. But the best combination of "good" and "likely to be successful" is advocating for a government run on liberal principles in general, and moving towards that policy by policy, rather than setting a definite solid end goal that's likely to be unpopular.

Okay, I'll try to explain this as clear as possible:
1. I support individual freedom.
2. Government infringes on individual freedom.
3. It is not realistic to abolish government through political reform.
4. Instead, government needs to be circumvented. This is best achieved through technology and capitalism, such as bitcoin and the seasteeding projects.
* Anarcho-capitalism ends here *
5. Governments are here to stay.
6. It is imperative to make government aggression on individual freedom as small as possible.
7. This is best achieved through libertarian political reform.

the problem with this is, making money off of copyrighted objects. you can be sued, and lose all the money that was donated.
