Something I remembered from the beta, the only "big" creatures in dungeon (except champions of course) are minotaur and strider, which now when i saw it seems weird because it is so thin and tall it's going to occupy 2x2 ? hmmm

Well, it could look quite imposing if its really tall and needs 2x2 squares for its "bizare" movement over the battlefield.
Comparable to that of a Gargoyle in the beta?

Indeed! Or the air elemental for that matter.

Strider - very mixed feeling about it, even though it fits dungeon as a puppet of faceless it lacks something, idk maybe with some weapon or another set of arms, it's just right now it doesn't seems like a elite creature

I believe that the point is to make it a little bit mysterious.

Also a little bit stupid. Disappointed, the unit had so much potential and they went with creepy mime.

I disagree. No matter whether you go with "mysterious" or "creepy", this is a generic creature which comes across as a filler, even if you manage to give it a look to convey one feeling or another. If you want a "creepy" atmosphere in the line-up, find an actually creature in some mythology/fairytale/fantasy universe that is actually creepy. Same if it's mysterious that you want. Making up random creatures and putting them instead of established creatures just makes people frustrated.

Another set of arms for the upgrade would fit perfectly with the design and would actually make them different from basic version.

Strider doesn't look like a random creature to me. The population of Dark Elves is not very big. So they must use some extra forces in theirs army. But there are not so many creatures underground, minotaurs are few and Medusas are just an occasion. So they were forced to create something new. And they invented.. this. I consider this as a part of evolution. Yeah, I know there are still beholders and Manticoras but Striders are more comprehensive way to fulfill the army than taming some new creatures.

cheers, thanks for the handy guide lol
btw not to be a hypocrite, I remember Enroth and Axeoth technically also used made up minerals like kergar, stalt and thjorad, but yeah for the HoMM games they should keep this over involved trash out of things lol

Well, tbh, the names of resources made by Ashan are pretty simple: a combination of 2 words. You know, Shadow + steel, Star + silver etc are easier to remember than stalt and thjorad. ^^ It doesn't even sound like authors "made" those words.

I agree. "Word plus word" does not equal "made up word" - might be a made-up term (like "Airbender") or a fictitious substance (like "Moonsilk"), but saying that's a made up word? Just saying, I can figure what Shadowsteel is much faster that Bauxisiateraxite. What is the latter? I don't know, because I made it up on the spot and it sounded like a mineral.

I think he was trying to dispute the notion of "more made-up words = worse story" by showing off the elven linguistics Tolkien invented for the Lord of the Rings.

With that said, I don't know if that's an appropriate point of comparison, since "fictitious language" oftentimes means "taking existing words and giving them a new spelling, pronunciation, and/or grammatical structure".

But Verriker explicitly stated "probability book is good", not something like "direct relation between the number of made-up words and a book's quality"...
So, my question remains open, I hope the one who posted the links will answer them. ^^ Oh, I just received it. ^^
