FTFY
Jokes aside, the thing that was done with AoE2 is great. Unfortunatley, I look upon MMH3 HD (or whatever it is called) and it only brings sadness...

Its more akin to the 3DO situation actually. They had been AoE developers since 1997 and the last AoE game came out 10 years ago (unlike Heroes whose last came out about a month and some weeks ago)
snowty try, as usual.

MMH3 HD is nothing but a shyster's cashgrab perversion of Team Erwin, I recommend looking at HotA instead, that's closer to the AoE analogy and will cure what ails ya lol

I never understood why such a successful series has not continued. Homm is now at 7, and AOE stuck at 3. I really don't get it: it is so trivial that AOE4 would make a fortune for any developer/publisher.

Thanks for the info Maurice some of the units in the forgotten HD looked a little out of place, but I loved all the new content. I'm sure I'll like the new expansion just as much.
I know Microsoft completly abandoned Aoe online. I liked that game a lot and the way you customized the units. Servers got shut down

I wonder why actually. Giving xpacks to old games is awesome but also cheap as snow (in both senses of the word) when you havent had a new game of said franchise in over 10 years. Hell, the H4-H5 gap was smaller.

I agree 100%. But I had to mention that cashgrab, because it is official thing. The expansions for AoE2 are official (Microsoft approved), while HotA isn't and that is why I didn't mention HotA (although, it is wonderful piece of work, since it's release I play Heroes 3 only with HotA).

Not cheaper than the thing Ubi did with Heroes 3. At least, new expansions bring something new to the game. On the other hand, I think that MMH3 HD is the only instance of game remastering that removes features that were present in original game

Supposedly Microsoft is working on a new title to "a beloved series" which kinda points to Aoe but who knows. I'll find the link when I'm not at work and not on my phone.

Unlike you, I dont think that H7 is bad game but i dont think that i have ever said that Ubisoft is a God-send gift lol (the closest to that i have said is that if ubi drops the franchise its probably going to rot)
Regardless, unlike H6, this time they seem to be actually trying to improve the game and taking in fan feedback (as long as budget allows it, of course)

A bad game I don't know, but a fake Heroes for sure. It's up to them if they want to fix mechanics, but the "won't redesign skill system" attitude doesn't help it.

Well thats subjetive. But i dont believe that a different skill system makes it a fake Heroes

Well, excepting the skillwheel (which is a core mechanic so i get why they arent gonna touch it) and the creature sizes (which is just plain silliness since there arent any "realtime" cutscenes using the engine unlike H6) they have been doing what has been brought up here. Besides they did apply the critics from H6 regarding color coding, resources, portalling, etc.

I consider it a fake Heroes because it claims itself as the 20th anniversary grand homage to the series and is nothing else but a gigantic farce IMO
The skill system problem (because random skills in h7 failed to meet expectations, is a fraud, something which tries to be what it's not) is of course only part of the bigger problem which lies in game conception at higher level. Believe what you will but to me there is obvious disagreement in core philosophy of HOMM and what it is about between the fans and Team Ubi, and as long as this problem isn't being dealt with I see no chance of success for H7 and beyond.

I wouldn't care about any "philosophy", if it was a good game. Unfortunately it's not. It should still be in testing (it basically is, at the expense of the paying customer), and even if it was a good and stable release it would still lack a lot, not the least of it being a lack of a coherent skill/magic hero development concept.
It's simple to see:
Name either 1 hero (class) for each faction, or all hero classes of one faction; then try and see whether you can get the starting value of the primary skill distribution of those 6 right; if you are still in the game - name the 3GM/3M/4E skills for each.
If you can't, think about what this inability does for immersion...

Ugh, well if it is I am not hyping it. It will probably end up just like a Heroes 7, after all no one was breaking down Microsoft's door asking for AOE 4. Age of Empires 2 is popular because it was good and timeless not because people were craving a new and likely disappointing game.

Might be a case of different capitalization. Iirc. forum will log you in both as "The_Green_Drag" and "The_green_drag" (and other combos), but it will not let you edit a post made as "The_Green_Drag" when you're logged in as "The_green_drag".
